"We chose this place for its reputation for "best steak in Boston", and even though we haven't tried nearly enough locations to confirm if this is a fact, the food was just great. Service was good but not great, as I had to waive my hand and wait for my waiter to notice me several times. But apart from that, all else was great.

Great for special occasions, business meals, and for that time when you just want a great steak."

"Server was less than attentive. Yes, it was brunch on Father's Day. But when we arrived it was not busy. Little things make a difference. When we go to a so-called high end steakhouse, I expect the server to address me first being the older woman in the group and then go to the younger woman and the men thereafter. He went to the younger man first. Maybe not a complaint, just a comment.

Food was decent and yes, service was not rushed only because the server didn't bother to come back to the table.

All in all it was just an acceptable experience. I would chose another steakhouse before I would go back to Abe & Louie's."

"Everything was good but the steak was overcooked. I asked for my sirloin medium and it was medium well. Not an ounce of pink throughout the steak. I didn't send it back because it becomes a nuisance when you're waiting for your food while the other person is eating theirs. It still tasted good and I was moderately satisfied. However, a $46 steak ought to be cooked perfectly to order."

"Three of the four in our party had filet mignon and it was fantastic (as was the fourth person's swordfish). We had a gift card that covered $200 of the $275 bill (before tip), but I would return, for a special occasion, and pay full freight. Service was attentive from everyone. We had an early reservation, so the noise level was quiet until toward the end of the meal, as more diners were seated around us."

"I made it clear that I would be there with my wife for our anniversary. The waiter was made aware and provided excellent service, treatment and conversation. Amazing chocolate cake was complementary. The food was a 10 as expected (for the price and reviews) and the reservation was prompt, but certainly a necessity.
Definitely recommended."

"Went here for my wife's birthday and regret it. The food wasn't very good. My fillet was very chewy and stringy, the broccoli was almost raw and inedible even the chocolate chip cookie skillet we got for dessert was burnt."

"Was my second - and probably last - time at Abe & Louie's. I was shocked by the poor quality of steaks - all three steaks at the table had deeply burned crust. The wine ordered by glasses was served way too warm. The bar area, where we were asked to wait for out table, had no space even to stand, let alone to sit. Finally, the noise at the restaurant was outrageous. Overall - very poor quality."

"I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday. He is a steak lover and the food did not disappoint. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and attentive and made great recommendations. It is the kind of restaurant you go for a true dining experience, so make sure you are not in a rush to eat or you will miss out on the atmosphere of the place."

"The food and service at Abe and Louie's was very good. Our reservation was at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. Upon our arrival (group of 4) at 7:25, we were immediately seated in what appeared to be a full restaurant. The waiter took our drink orders promptly and came back at the appropriate time to take our food orders. Although the restaurant was extremely busy, the service was very good and we were not rushed.

We will definitely go back. We sat inside, but sitting outside at the Boylston Street sidewalk tables would be very nice. You can expect around $85 - $110 / person with food and a couple of cocktails/wine."

"It was my first time in Boston and after reading a lot of reviews (Trip Advisor, UrbanSpoon), I decided to reserve for me and my wife. The location is very easy to find (near the big shopping malls) on a main street. The service is absolutely 5 stars, the ambience is pretty good and the noise is pretty low.

The food is very good too, the steak was tender, very well cooked (as ordered) and the servers were fun and courteous. They are really fast but not pushy, very good.

I would recommend that to every one that wants a good steak in Boston. Top Notch!"

"Well, the food was very good and the wine selection was too. Everything came on time and was as it should be. BUT... we were seated at a table too close to the bar, which was extremely loud due to a few obnoxious patrons. It was so distracting that I had to take off stars for ambiance, which maybe would be okay in other parts of the restaurant. I'm used to noise in a steakhouse but this sounded more like a school lunchroom than a happening bar scene. If you go, and make reservations, I suggest requesting more specifically the table location you prefer."

"This restaurant was very good. Great service and great food combined with a fabulous atmosphere resulted in a perfect pre-Pops experience. The steak was delicious and the osso bucco was bursting with flavor. They say the latter will be coming off the menu soon: it's not to be missed for pork lovers, so I hope it makes a return in the winter months. Hearty dishes and great drinks: the bar menu was the most notable and was the reason why we went. Go and enjoy!"

"I went with 3 friends and we decided to give A&L a try as it was recommended to us for a good dining experience. The service was quick, efficient and respectful with great knowledge of the menu. Our wait time was less than 10 minutes to get our dinners (A+) and the steaks were wonderful. All members of our party had blissful expressions when they tried their entrees. Very well staffed and expertly run. The prices arent for the faint of heart as these are prime cuts of beef so be prepared. Topping off the meal with a nice cup of cappuccino for dessert along with 7 layer chocolate cake made the experience one to remember."

"Our server Bobby was excellent. We arrived 30 mins early and we were seated right away. When our meat came we realized we forgot to order sauces. It was brought out right away! I was even given a complimentary piece of chocolate cake with a candle because it was my birthday. It was my first time but I will go again. "Of course the food was outstanding..........it's Abe & Louie's! The crabmeat cocktail had a beautiful presentation and tasted delicious. The lobster casserole contained a ton of lucious lobster meat and the ribeye with the bone-in was very tastey. The sweet potato with brown sugar was not only yummy, it was huge......took some of it home even though we split it for dinner! Even though they don't have a martini menu they made us our own unique "tropical" martini which left us wanting more. Our waiter, Samuel, was amazing - very attentive, funny and his suggestions for dinner were right on the money. We will request him again. Abe & Louie's has become our favorite restaurant for a special occasion or romantic dinner."

"Came to Boston on vacation and went to Abe and Louie's on our first night based on a reccomendation from a friend. We were seated immidately at the time of our reservation and server took drink order right away. Service was good throughout the meal, and the food was great. One negative would be that our appetizers and soups/ salads were brought out at the same time and not seperate."

"Hey,

The place was very good as expected. What stood out was the funny guy who waited on us. He was a riot and handled every curve with ease. Sadly I forget his name but he was upstairs in the front. That guy was great"

"A tad confusing getting table had to wait by table for about 7 minutes while they cleaned it!
Drinks,sides and 3 of the 4 meals were very good my 2 pound lobster was just ok,stuffing was a little dry and just
Not up to the high standards that I hold Abe and Louie's to.Next time will go with beef."

"Due to heavy traffic, half of our party were delayed 45 minutes after our reservation time. Those who where there were seated and had drinks at a great table by the window. Our waiter and staff did not make us feel uncomfortable and never rushed us. Once the rest of the party arrived we were treated to a great meal. Everyone was thrilled with their choices even my 11 year niece for who we were celebrating a Scholar Award. Dessert was great, too."

"You cannot go wrong at Abe & Louie's!! We dined there for our recent 15 yr anniversary! Our waiter was BEYOND OUTSTANDING!!! Our experience is always one we talk about for days! The food is exceptional, service is unbelievable and the atmosphere is fun and vibrant! We have suggested this restaurant to all our friends!"

"I don't normally write reviews, but felt this time it's necessary. The one reason I may not go back tomAbe and Louis ('there are other options close by) is the service. I dine out a lot and entertain constantly. It's more than frustrating when I'm constantly looking over my shoulder to get attention or find my waiter; especially when you are spending $150 per head. I would have ordered more product if the waiter/staff was more attentive."
