"BEL LAGO - - is an absolutely MOST wonderful restaurant . . . it's cuisine is of the most wonderful and very delicious type, the ambiance too is outstanding and this is entirely due to the ownership of this Hoover Reservoir, Sunbury Rd. and County Line Rd. location.
Dave and Michele Bianconi have made glorious additions and site improvements which are great reflections of the dedication to the clientele. Enjoying the wonderful environment adds to the factors of the consumption of it's wonderful cuisine.
With my wife and many friends we have enjoyed the wonderful diversion of the BEL LAGO wine list, it embraces the greatest wines of the United States (primarily West Coast) inclusive also of an abundance of the wines of European wineries."

"As always, Brunch was suburb. We sat on the veranda at 11:00am. It was about 75 degrees outside and the breeze from the reservior was comfortable. The view was outstanding. We took our teenagers who really enjoyed the experience. We would highly recommend Bel Lago for a family Brunch."

"Since this was my first visit I wasn't aware of the different options that I could have possibly requested. Once I arrived I was asked questions about the seating that I wasn't aware of. Then the hostess kept asking me my name and a couple of times asked for my reservation number, which irritated me, making me believe I didn't actually have a reservation. Once I was told about the different seating at this venue I did ask for a particular section, but was told that I would have to be put on a waiting list I'm assuming since, or even if it would have matter if I made the request on-line, although I had a reservation."

"I took my mother there for a lunch for Mother's Day and it was a nice quiet lunch. Although I felt $14 for the Bel Lago's version of a meatball sub was a bit pricey, it was a delicious sub. Mother had the prime rib sandwich and also found her's delicious. I would recommend the Bel Lago for special occasions or perhaps a business meeting."

"What a great place to dine for a birthday. We sat by the open window overlooking Hoover on a perfect night in May. Our server,
Rachel was fantastic! She was prompt, and courteous and gave a space which made us feel like we were the only ones there.
The food was delicious, I having the sea bass with pureed squash. The dessert was so fresh tasting with strawberries, rhubarb
and herbs. When we asked Rachel to take a picture of us with the water as a backdrop, she suggested we go up to the bar on
the rooftop overlooking the water. What a great shot! What a great evening!"

"Very disappointing visit for Mother's Day, 2013. Arrived early for our 2:00 p.m. reservation. Was not seated until closer to 2:40 p.m. Extremely long line for the $30.00 per person buffet and no ordering off the menu. Ran out of food and equipment failure. So it was 3:00 p.m. when we started to eat. On a day when Mom was to be treated to a pleasant relaxing meal turned into standing around waiting for a table and then STANDING AGAIN in a line for our food. Waiting in line as it was not moving. Slow service as set up was terrible. Then seemed rushed as restaurant was setting up for normal dinner hours, due to that the buffet usually stop serving at 3:00 p.m. Avoid Bel Lago for special occasions. Not enjoyable, frustrating experience."

"The staff was very accomodating when I called last minute to change the number in our party. We were seated immediately and the waiter was very attentive. Service was alittle slow, even thought the restaurant was not full. The food was fantastic !

"Thanks so much for allowing us to make reservations on line. While the food was tasty, it came 40 minutes after we ordered. I asked that my scallops be warmed again because the food was slightly below room temperature. I tasted my husband's mashed potatoes and they were room temperature. We wondered if our food (four of us) had been setting out possibly waiting to be picked up. While we noticed a lot of personnel, we wondered if our waiter was overwhelmed or what. There are a number of causes we tried to figure out relative to cool food and wait for dinner. My meal was reheated with fresh scallops, and someone with a suit came by to say hello. I do not remember him identifying himself. But, he was friendly and we spoke of the wait."

"The test of one's character is how they handle adversity. A big afternoon rush on Mother's day was taking its toll when we arrived, and everyone was busy scurrying around. The brunch buffet was running out of everything, prime rib, eggs benedict, the signature salad and so on. Then all of a sudden, bam! Everything was restocked. All was new again. The instant we sat back down with our food, the waiter apologized saying they'd run out of the carved prime rib (yeah, we knew) but the kitchen would deliver and would we like some? Less than two minutes later, he delivered the prime rib to our table. The staff did a phenomenal job and handled everyone with such grace. And the food? It was delicious."

"So we came here the Saturday night before Mother's Day for an early celebration. We were sat immediately which always helps with an RSVP! However service was slow, slow, slow. Granted we were not in a hurry, but from getting our drinks, to getting our bread, to the main meal - slow. Our server did say that the kitchen was behind due to the holiday but by 7pm, the restaurant pretty much cleared out. It was 8pm by the time we got out of there. Again, we weren't in a hurry but it was the case where too much bread is consumed that you're not hungry for your main meal b/c it took so long. What also didn't help was the 'tween behind us blaring her smartphone with whatever video clips she was watching. Not the restaurants fault, but still."

"We were concerned with the adoption of a new menu in that many restaurants have a drop in food quality preparation as the chef's learn the new menu. Not an issue at all here - everything was perfect! This is a real gem of a place - great food, great wine and food selection, good prices and a great scenic view."

"We loved everything about Bel Lago. We loved the view, the open windows, the fabulous food, and the great service. Our waiter did a tremendous job. We are not quite sure of his name, but we think it was Conner. The receptionist went out of her way to take our picture with our relatives. We even got a nice outside shot. We loved the Sunday buffet selection, and quality of food. We especially enjoyed the prime rib, lamb, calamari, spinach salad, shrimp, fish cake, lox with fancy cream cheese, and the candied bacon which may have been the best thing of all. Our waiter told us they ran out last week, and the people went berserk, but this week there was plenty - thank you. We have already recommended to friends. We'll be back!"

"The chicken piccatta was wonderful for the second time that I have ordered it here. The calamari and risotto balls make great appetizers. You must try the brussels sprouts - seriously, they were awesome and I do not love veggies. Our table was too close to the kitchen and a wait station, so there was a lot of bumping and clanging behind us. The service was a bit slow as we seemed to wait a long time for our main courses. The scenic view is beautiful and a table on the veranda makes for a lovely evening here."

"Dined here previously for Thanksgiving, and had a great experience so returned for a pre-graduation dinner.
Pleased to be seated on the veranda, but in daylight the dining area appears a bit dingy. When the hostess led us to our table, I saw some rice/sauce on my seat cushion. I mentioned it, got no response, so asked if I could flip the cushion and she said to go right ahead. hmm. The chairs are comfortable and it's nice to watch the geese on the reservoir. The wedding soup and calamari appetizers were very good, the Caesar salads were bland and not worth the price. The entrees were very good, but for the price I would expect a bit cleaner dining area and less casually dressed diners. Service is excellent."

"This was our third time at Bel Lago and we we took a couple that had never been before. Our server was not attentive, there was a very small selection of Italian food, and my Chicken Saltimbooca was cold and unappealing.
The wine I selected was unavailable in the year I asked for. It will be a long time before I would go back."

"I'm not sure reservations matter here, 45 minute wait past reservation time. Pieces of toothpick found in house made flat bread. Meal was barely warm and kind of bland. Hostess, bartender, server, chef and owner all good at apologies. Probably not going back unless someone really wants to enjoy the scenic view."

"First time dining at Bel Lago for the Sunday brunch buffet at 11AM--celebrating an anniversary--four adults and one child.
The Food: delicious. Great variety of breakfast and lunch items that included an omelet station, prime rib, lots seafood options (awesome lobster mac and cheese), and desserts.
The Service: outstanding, courteous, and friendly. New silverware, freshening of coffee/water, and clearing of plates at each trip to the buffet.
The Ambiance: casual-upscale and very clean. Jeans/dress shirts are 100% acceptable. Spectacular window views.
Price: mid to higher end for brunch buffet, but worth the price.
Tips: Arrive at 11am--started to get busier around noon. Ask for window table."

"One of my favorite spots in Columbus as the view is terrific from the veranda. Food is always consistently good. Presentation is beautiful. My husband ordered the tuna steak for the first time and said it was delicious. I had the margherita pizza which was very cheesy and tasty."

"We liked the restaurant. Our waiter was excellent. We had reservations and were seating promptly at a table with a view of the reservoir but were so disappointed that the windows had a strip of wood which prohibited you from seeing the view without bending down or stretching up ward. I got the the Lobster Mac and Cheese and enjoyed it."

"Loved our experience at Bel Lago! I went with 4 girlfriends and our waitress was very respectful of our time together! She was incredibly attentive without being obnoxious. We were able to sit out on the veranda, which in the late spring and summer would be spectacular since it's right on the water. The food was phenomenal...I can't wait to go back and try something else...alone with my husband!"

"Disappointing. Have been there before and it was much better. Asked for spaghetti al dente and it was not at all. Perhaps that was because it was so very hot that it "cooked" on the plate. Chicken Rustica had very little flavor.
Have been a few times in the past and really liked it. We wondered if they micro-waved the lunches."

"There were four people in our party. One was very pleased with the meal while the other three simply thought it was mediocre. We were served bread before our meal; it was "fabulous!" I had the beet salad with the addition of salmon and thought the salad was ok, but very small. I actually left the restaurant feeling hungry. We also had wine with our dinner, but It's one of those places where they barely put any wine in the glass....so annoying. Because of that, I only ordered one glass! One person in our group had the pizza and loved it! All in all, our experience was ok, but I wouldn't rush back because the food seemed over priced for what you get...we sat on the enclosed veranda, but window casings block much of the view!"
