"Service was classy and impeccable. We were very impressed with the appetizer and liked the main dish. Main dish could have been a bit of a smaller portion to leave room for desert but we were very full by then. Amazing building with lots of caracter...hard to believe that it was a Mexican restaurant years ago."

"Sophisticated ambiance. Quality food, great flavors and excellent presentation... at an upscale price... but worth it. Creative octopus appetizer. Excellent medium-rare grilled duck breast with goat cheese gnoccis.
Strong wine list, although it would be great to see a few more choices on the "by the glass" list. Lively York Street location - and easy to catch a cab back to my hotel. Sufficiently attentive service - professional without smothering. Overall a good experience. ($$$ $118 for appetixer, entree, two glass of wine and 18% tip for one diner)"

"What an amazing experience. The waiter was the perfect mixture of knowledgeable, funny (without being too in your face), attentive and more. The food was exceptional (ice cream that tasted like caramel popcorn? yum!) but was also quite filling. Unfortunately, it also left a hole in my wallet. I think it was the most expensive diner I have ever purchased (also due to a 75$ bottle of wine - at the low end of the wine menu). To be expected for such a great restaurant at a great location in the market."

"This is the third time that I have been to e18hteen since December. I had only been once before several years ago and had a mediocre experience but I came in December and have returned twice for special occasions since. The food is truly outstanding, ambience is very nice and the service is excellent. It is truly a gem and probably even the top restaurant in the Ottawa area right now - at least in my opinion."

"My husband really enjoyed the venison cheeks and blue cheese crusted steak. I had ordered the beet salad which I was really looking forward to and was disappointed in the portion size. I was also disappointed in the halibut serving. The portion of halibut was satisfactory however the 1 tbsp of fiddleheads and peas was not substantial enough for a meal. I left the restaurant not satisfied."

"Very disappointing for a restaurant that up until this visit was my favourite in Ottawa. Prices have increased but quality has decreased. Service was attentive and appropriate. Octopus has changed fro the worse with large and oily tentacles that were not very tender. Lamb was great but accompaniment was a brown mushy disaster. Lobster was appetizer size, risotto was very good. For these prices I expect perfection which 18 has always given me. Was disappointed with the host who did not really take the time to rectify in any way my displeasure."

"I was very surprised by the service that we were given on the day of our dinner. The servers are fantastic at their job and were very attentive. The food was very well presented. The beef tartar absolutely phenomenal! During our dinner, the GM also greeted and served us our appetizers. Overall the experience was one of the best so far. One of the great restaurants in Ottawa by far!"

"Table next to us had a loud cackler and received seating by the water station. Took away from beautiful ambiance, amazing food and at most times attentive service. First time so in this type of restaurant you have to pay your dues and get the worst table by the water station and cold front door .Hopefully next time (there will be a next time) after a 25% tip and no demands our reservation could graduate to a better, less noisy table. Recommended the restaurant to an Ottawa colleague for the next night but she was turned away as it was closed for a private function."

"Great restaurant! When I called to reserve I asked for a quit table and gave the mention that my wife was pregnant. Dining on a Saturday, I was quite surprised to see that we had been setup in a nice corner. The ambiance was very romantic and we were very comfortable. When our server arrived he was quick to offer some non alcoholic drink choices for my wife. She really enjoyed that level of attention.
When it was time to order, our server was good to point out what was seasonaly fresh on the menu. I chose the black cod and my wife the duck breast. The food was amazing! We finished with a wonderfull chocolate desert.
We plan on visiting again in the future.

"A wonderful restaurant reserved for special occasions! I question the value given the very expensive plates but the unique and spectacular flavors all but completely makes up for the price. The portions were not quite what I had hoped for but we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and delighted to have enjoyed such a treat. The interior decor is very elegant and the attitude of the service staff matches this perfectly. I would recommend Restaurant e18hteen to try for anyone but considering the cost, I'm not sure that I will return any time soon. There are equally tasteful restaurants in the market at half the price."

"Found your service people polite and clean cut but lacked the warmth in their attention. Several times the person serving the water went directly to one table served them and did not peruse the rest of the tables for needs as he returned to home base. The time in between servings was extremely long the staff should be taught to check on their tables in a more timely manner by doing so you will find out who is not in a hurry or is willing to linger longer. Polish this up a little and your place is a gem with the original exterior walls adds such a heritage feeling to the place. The food we found to be excellent for that alone I would recommend your place."

"Never been to a high end restaurant before, always way out of my price range. Saved hard and chose 18 based on the reviews I had previously read. I was not dissapointed at all. Took my wife there for a late valentines meal. The building is old stone front, slate floor and very classy. Waiters were very smart, knew their product ( a rarity in my opinion ). From the outset, the food was off the chart good, the timing was spot on, no rushing but no long waits between courses either. I don't drink alcohol, but if you are a wine lover, their wine list is clearly built from experience and the numerous awards on display are testament to that.Highly recommended, will return again I hope."

"This was our first visit to 18 it was for our 46th wedding anniversary and we found everything great. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, our coats were taken and we were shown to our table. Besides the server for our table we interacted with a number of others of the wait staff and all were extremely courteous and very knowledgeable. Our wine, appetizers, main courses and coffees were all wonderful with very nice timings between courses. Passed on desert, next time. Something that caught my attention was that yes we had a server but all of the wait staff in circulating were very vigilant to our possible needs and were their to assist. As we were leaving the matre'd spoke with us to ensure we had enjoyed our dinner experience."
