"Haven't been to the View in quite a while and was pleased to see it was just as pretty as ever. The menu was wonderful and the service was excellent. Our only problem was a table to 20 seated near us. They were having a great time - but were very noisy. The restaurant seems to echo a bit so our group of three could hardly hear each other. We requested a new table - were promptly reseated and enjoyed the rest of the evening!"

"Went to the View to celebrate my birthday. The dinner was excellent, except I had the striped bass on my wish list and it was not available. The staff were young and energetic and made us feel welcome."

"Been to this restaurant many times. The food as well as the service has always been excellent. Unfortunately this past time the service was poor. The plates from the appetizer course sat in front of us so long we finally had to bus our own table. Our booth was near the kitchen and the serving staff leaned up against the back of it and engaged in personal conversations which my date and I were forced to listen to. This was a special occasion and we both left the restaurant agitated."

"The decor was appropriate, it was raining, so we were inside. This restaurant was chosen for the menu and ambience, for a special occasion. I reserved a table with a view, and not to be placed next to the kitchen. The view was minimal, but I approved of the table, but before I realized they had exactly put us next to the kitchen (hidden from view by a partition wall with a boat over it). During that time, a glass broke right behind my mother, tray stands fell, the servers bustled around us In the middle of drinks, the hostess realize their mistake, offered to pay for drinks/dessert and gave us a gift card to come back. We will; next time I'll know where to sit."

"The View is a gem on the south shore of Long Island. Having been refurbished after Super Storm Sandy, the View is back and running featuring great food in a beautiful setting. Shortly after arriving, we were seated and then offered a table near a window, as we had been requested in our Open Table reservation. Despite being filled up for Mother's Day, the service and atmosphere was wonderful, and we enjoyed a meal perfectly prepared in a simple serene setting. Bravo and welcome back to the View - we will most certainly be back!"

"The restaurant was very crowd and service was still very good. Food was good but a little expensive for the portion size. The restaurant has been redone since closing because of Super storm Sandy and the decor is very fresh and airy."

"Their General Tsoa's Lobster was probably the best restaurant meal, I've had in a while.
as iit was very tasty and different and wonderful presentation.
The calamari and the spicy sushi roll was also excellent.
We all enjoyed the meals - the veal chop was amazing; my husband loved the steak with pasta;
the yellowfin tuna was alsoa hit., as were the desserts.
Have been here many times for various occasions - birthdays, weddings, lunches, dinners, baby showers,
bridal showers, Sunday Brunches - and have never been disappointed with the food.
Coming for brunch - in a couple of weeks with out-of-town guests!"

"We enjoyed our visit during Restaurant Week with friends who had never been before. They enjoyed it very much as did we. Their re-opening after Hurricane Sandy seems to be a successful one. The ambiance before was more to the romantic side, but given the proximity to the water, their sparcer decor is probably the way to go. Decor aside, the food and service was impecable and we hope to enjoy the experience again soon. The noice level went way up as the evening progressed as there is no sound absorbing materials anywhere.

"This was my husband and I first time back since the View was hurt by Sandy...wow it is more beautiful, lovely and just perfect. We went for my birthday and it was restaurant week. We are alittle earlier than the reservations and the hostess sat us right away. She brought us to a table for two right at the window with this amazing view. I really thought that my husband had phoned to ask for this table, it was just perfect. We started with a cocktail before dinner, and then we rec'd our apps...spicy tuna roll delish and my husband had the mussels...dinner which we both ordered the diver scallops with risotto, amazing...and desert could not have been better...We will be returning quite often to this fabulous restaurant..."

"Dined as a table of 4 at a window seat in the bar area...long wait for a drink order...no bread had to ask twice...one hour until appetizers arrive...totally unacceptable....another 30 minutes for main courses...dessert and coffee came out fast....2hrs and 15 minutes for a week night dinner when the place is half empty is pathetic...food was actually good to very good across the board. Nothing was done by the staff to speed things along or remedy their poor performance. Will be dining elsewhere."

"The diningroom, recently renevated, was beautiful with great views of the bay. Though the wait staff was running around like crazy, the service was slow. The food was average, at best. The lobster we orderd was slightly overcooked, which was surprising given the location and the fact that the menu has many steak and seafood choices."

"Very pretty place, all 9 of us loved our food. The only problem we had was that its quite noisy so we couldnt hear eachother well and it became very busy so by the end the waitress wasnt able to take good care of us. I think lunch would be wonderful here!"
