The restaurant offers superior prime beef, an award-winning wine list, and a classic, yet comfortable ambiance reflecting a timeless American steakhouse.
"Its a steakhouse that cooks up red meat like its supposed to be done. Service was excellent, portions generous (everyone was taking leftovers home) and my creme brulee perfect. Wine list, though not extensive, had a good collection and the specialty martini list was impressive. This is not creative gastronomics, but well done, solid steakhouse grub."

"We checked in early and got the best seat in the house, a window with a view of the Queen Mary in the distance. We were the only guests in this part of the dining room. Our waitress was brilliant at first as we were the only people in her station, but as soon as other guests arrived, she seemed to have forgotten us. We ordered an oyster sampler and they were delicious, but she could only remember one variety when asked. We then waited 20 minutes while she made table-side salads for others and forgot our salad order. When our main course arrived, all was forgotten as it was some of the best food that I've had in recent memory. Expensive, but worth it! I look forward to a return visit!"

"For starters we were late for our reservation but called ahead to advise the restaurant of our tardiness and the restaurant was very understanding but promised to seat us when we arrived. Upon the arrival we waited maybe 10 minutes fore being seated. Our waitress Veronica came right over and welcomed us and made us feel right at home. From the cocktails to the entree everying was superb!!!! The entire staff was very attentive and anticipated our needs even down to the valet who asked about our dining experience,,,,what a first!! We choose 555 for Mothers Day dinner and the restaurant was all we had expected."

"555 East is the classic steak house. Great for business dinners or a personal celebration. The waiters are very attentive and accommodating for variations on the food. Good size portions. But most of all, the steaks are fantastic and cooked just the way you order them. I had the New York Strip Capella style with caramelized onions and mushrooms which was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It gets a little noisy with the all the typical steak house business chatter, but it's not distracting. I continually recommend 555 to friends. It is our "go to" steak house in Long Beach."

"I was looking for a restaurant in Long Beach and chose it based on the positive reviews written by others. Our table was ready for us right when we arrived. For a Saturday night it wasn't overly crowded and we didn't have to wait very long for our food after ordering. My boyfriend ordered a beer, a salad with blue cheese dressing, and the teriyaki steak with mashed potatoes. He loved it! The steak was cooked just right. It wasn't slathered with sauce but you had the option to do so with a side of extra sauce. He gave it a 10/10. The blue cheese was one of the best he's had. I ordered a tea, salad with 1000 Island, and the macaroni and cheese. It was very tasty! Creamy and rich. It was a nice sized portion. Tab with tip was about $80."

"Overall, I gave 555 East 3/5 stars because I wasn't blown away by anything about the place. Service was good but rushed. The server didn't have an opinion one way or the other when asked. He seemed to 'sell' you whatever you asked about. The food was very good. Not excellent. Sautéed mushrooms were over cooked but well seasoned. The crab cakes appetizer is only 1 pc. (the server said it was a 'shareable' appetizer....it wasn't). The garlic mashed potatoes were tasty but luke-warm. The steaks were cooked perfectly! The noise level was loud due to several large groups. I'll give them another try but it won't be my first choice for a steak dinner. Capital Grill & Mastros exceed 555 East and are at the same price point."

"The food was good but I do like Ruth's Chris better. The bar section was pretty loud. We didn't receive bread at the beginning but the table next to us did. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't send someone there. The dessert we ordered, flaky apple with vanilla bean ice cream, was excellent!"

"One of the best restaurants in Long Beach. Be sure to try the bone-in filet when available! We always go with turf, tried the crabcake appetizer this time around and it was fantastic, lump crab meat with little filler and cooked to perfection."

"The food was excellent. The service was terrible. Bread was never brought out, they attempted to seve our entree 5 minutes after our salad arrive and the coffee ordered with dessert was not brought until asking repeated times. We asked to speak with the manager when our entree was brought early. An apology was given and we were ensured that new entrees would be made for us. Nothing was added complimentary for us and overall the service was a disaster. For a $400 meal, it was lackluster experience. We will not return."

"The valet service has always been the best. No one matches them. But if you want a great or even good meal, you need to forego 555 for now. I have been going to this restaurant for years. Even before if changed and specialized in steaks. 555 was always dependable and a treat. No more. We were there to celebrate my youngest son's 22 birthday. I ordered the beet salad which was not edible. The beets were not cooked properly and the presentation was disgraceful. My wife and daughter ordered the rack of lamb and only had a few bites. It was tough and poorly prepared. My New York strip was tasteless and cost over $40.00. The issue is the lack of a quality chef. No more."

"I initially picked this restaurant because of the gret reviews from another site. We celebrated my daughters 26 th birthday and what a wonderful night we had. The food was absolutely superb. Our steaks were all expertly prepared, seasoned to perfection. The shrimp cocktail was fabulous and had nice kick to it from what tasted like wasabi. You must try the chocolate bread pudding. By far one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. If you want world class service, reguest, Brian. He is bubbly, attentive and a great multi tasker. We are definitely going back soon!"

"Very busy night and drinks, etc. took a while. They also forgot to make my steak capella-style and by the time they brought it out as a side I was done eating my steak and had to pay $7 for capella! The baked potato was weird too....it has hard and cold and came with cheese and bacon instead of sour cream and chives?? Off night but still love the 5's."

"We were recommended and very much disappointed the steak was very though and the side order of corn was cooked it did not taste good. We had ordered Caesar salad and they just brought it to us and did not Do the table side as it says it on the menu! We had our left overs, steak mash potatoes, Mac and cheese , fries and onions and mushrooms. For Some reason they only packed the 2 steaks and the Mac & cheese we were very disappointed when the next day we wanted to eat it and it was not there! :( so our over all experience was not that great and we probable would not go back but keep on driving to San Diego to Lou & mickeys instead. Even though you use the same steak as L&M's it did not Taste the same and the meat was not great at all"

"This was our second time to 555 East and once again, they totally delivered. The "Wait Team" was attentive and our meals were incredible. Great oysters, wine and entree....and the chocolate soufflé was divine... We are in Long Beach once a year promoting our business at The Fred Hall Boat Show and Saturday night is our night to reward ourselves with a wonderful dinner out. 555 East is the place to go."

"The hostess stand seemed disorganized when I arrived. 3 hostesses standing there listening to a customer, no one greeted me or helped me. The guy who was helping our server was great, very personable and helpful even if he was new. Our server seemed distracted and stressed out. Did not seem to pay attention to us when we were speaking & had conversations with other personnel while taking our orders. Steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked. Baked potatoes are large & correctly cooked with salt crust and not in foil. The bread is served hot and is a good sourdough."

"We were disappointed overall. We were taken to a room that waso so crowded we had to leave and go to the other side just to get through. We had to ask for water 4 times. My Apeach melba tasted like nail polish remover. The steaks were very good except that one in our party ordered medium well and it was rare; not even medium rare. When we finally got our waiter's attention he took it back gladly but no apology was made. A manager returned the steak and he did apologize and was very polite about it, but unfortunately now the steak was well done; not medium well. For the money we paid, this was unacceptable. We were taking the other couple out for a celebration and we were embarrassed. We don't plan to return."

"This place is a classic in every sense. Food, service, ambiance. The steaks were cooked to perfection and came out hot! What more could you ask for? Our only complaint was the baked potatoes -- they were "dry" -- which surprised us, maybe cooked too early and the reheating dried them out. The star of the meal, however was the chocolate soufflé ! Our party of 4 all agreed -- REPEAT!"

"I loved the quiet dim ambiance of the restaurant. It was just what we wanted for a special anniversary. The crab bisque soup was delectable and the calamari was perfect. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and the salmon was incredible. The service was outstanding, very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I loved that they went out of their way to make our anniversary perfect. I would recommend the 555 East to any one whether a leisurely dinner a get-together, or corporate meeting. We will definitely be going back to sample other dishes."
