"Melvyn's is a Palm Springs institution in every way a bar and restaurant should be. They have history, elegance and grace along with friendly staff who provide amazing service. The atmosphere is old Hollywood with the relaxation of the desert. We love Melvyn's!"

"Old school excellence. Our Caesar salads were prepared table-side as was the Steak Diane and Fettuccini. My escargot with puff pastry and served in a ramekin with walnuts was also outstanding.
Dinner was so good the first night, we came the next night for a late dinner at the bar of pork sliders with sweet-potato fries.
Luckily for us, Melvyn's is part of the Ingleside Inn, where we're staying of the week, so we'll probably return on Wed. to hear the local, retired professionals perform during open-mike night."

"I wanted a classic midcentury/timeless dining experience for a family gathering. Melvyn's was PERFECT! from the martinis to the Oysters Rockefeller to the professional, tuxedo'd waiters, the extensive wine list, the soup-or-salad and vegetable and potato served with the entrees, and of course the flambe'd desserts, it was an ideal place for our party. Sole piccata and pefectly cooked steak pleased my party, and we worked off a few calories on the dance floor, too! The next time I am there I will have one of the pot pies...."

"I was so excited to go to this restaurant to see the history. The grounds were stunning to be sure. There is a dress code however I have never seen a dress code that allows blue jeans. The food was only so so which means I would not go back but the experience was worth it."

"I absolutely love the nostalgic places...this is one of them. For those of you who have never had a Steak Dianne prepared by a Captain table side, it's a wonderful experience. While I'm only in my 40's, I appreciate the old world team approach to service. This place has it down to a science and it was one of the most enjoyable evenings we've had in many years. We can't wait to go back!"

"This restaurant is not for everyone. it's retro in a bit of a cheesy way, but a lot of fun if you go with it. Old school menu and waiters, this is not for those seeking anything creative food-wise, but it is a lot of fun. Tried the tableside prepared Steak Diane, and the captain put on a show. Also Strawberries Flambe was great fun and tasty. My wife was a bit less into the theatrics but had a decent piece of fresh fish. Ambience is glitzy but patio is very nice, even romantic. Recommended for retro lovers."

"We looked forward to eating at Melvyns as the quintessential old school restaurant in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, our experience was less than positive. The waiter assigned to our table seemed to lack any formal training in waiting, especially in a fine dining establishment. He forgot to bring us our martinis and we received them long after our appetizer and our salads had been virtually thrown at us in a rushed, uncomfortable sequence. There was no time to relax or enjoy our food or our drinks and the restaurant was far from packed. We ordered a wine which came in a half bottle but the waiter acted like he had no idea they even had half bottles on their list and then he opened it, and threw it on the table without even pouring a taste."
