Firecreek has preserved and rehabbed a former paper mill into one of Chester County's finest dining experiences. An open kitchen puts you right into the action. "We took a friend who had never been at Firecreek to celebrate her birthday.
She chose the salmon and loved the crisp outer crust and tender inside with a pleasant fennel salad.
The ambience of the old mill was enjoyable - we would have really liked a write up about the history of the mill to read while we waited for our meal.
The waitress was energetic and attentive. Having several waitstaff come by at various times was a bit confusing, but not a major distraction.
One of us needs to eat gluten free meals, and there was helpful responses to questions for clarification which was helpful."

"Just did the Mother's Day brunch and it was very good. The one huge draw back to Firecreek is the noise level. With the dining area half full you can't hear people at your table unless they shout which diminishes the dining experience. Other than that, the food is very good, and the service is outstanding even for a brunch. Our server was attentive and responsive. Couldn't ask for more."

"This restaurant was a treat for us. The service was excellent but not pretentious. The interior is a tastefully renovated mill. On the night we visited, some patrons were dining outside on the patio. Two of us shared bruschetta that was tasty but a bit heavy-handed with the balsmatic vinegrette. The others at our table raved about the duck tacos. Our steaks and seafood were expertly prepared. The wine list is extensive."

"Dinner was very good and we enjoyed our experience. The place is pretty neat inside. Service was very quick, so I would recommend ordering an app, waiting until your finished to order the next item. We had three courses but were finished within an hour even though we ordered after we had finished each item."

"Nice look and feel. But felt food was OK at best especially for this price. the asparagus well cooked but the sauce unremarkable and some pieces tasted like there was no sauce at all. Prime rib was good but not the best I've had. My wife felt crab cakes were OK but prefers a local competitor better. Service was average (server may have been distracted training new employee). My wife liked the pear martini!!"

"I was looking for a romantic place to celebrate my Anniversary and I definitely found it. Our candlelight dinner with soulful jazz music playing in the background really set the mood. The Beet trio spinach salad w/ candied walnuts was a good start to the meal. My entree bistro steak, steak fries & mixed vegetables was a pleasure to my taste buds.
The only real negative thing i would have to say about the restaurant is the seating. Instead of a nice seat w/ a back I had to sit on a long couch like seat which killed my back because every time i wanted to speak to my wife or eat I had to lean forward. Overall i would def recommend this restaurant to others. Go on a Thurs because every Thurs they have live jazz music."

"We have eaten at Firecreek numerous times, always had a delicious well cooked meal.
Sadly, on this visit & ironically first time we booked through Open Table our food was fair. I order the Filet Mignon medium and my Filet came out well done. They had to make me a new filet. My husband and our friends potatoes were ice cold. So we signaled for the waiter and he then brought over two plates for them to each put their potatos on so they can be reheated. We truly thought that they should have been served fresh new servings of hot potatoes and not rewarm ones that were served cold and sat too long. As a courtsey they offered us free dessert and only two of us took advantage. So they only comped the two dessets and did not offer anything else."

"Firecreek has been at the top of my list of favorite local restaurants since they opened, however my latest experience there left much to be desired. We had to wait over an hour to be seated because of what they called a "miscommunication" between their two hostesses (one of which obviously missed her calling, as she was very grumpy and not at all interested in customer service). The food was good but it didn't have the "wow" factor I have come to expect from them. I think it's time to find a new favorite."

"Not a great value for the money. Yes, a notable wine list. But the food prices are not commensurate with the expectations for portion size and flavor, at least for a restaurant in this area.
Our server seemed inexperienced and was not attentive. There is no salt or pepper on the tables, and the server never offered a pepper mill nor was never in sight for us to inquire.
Our first wine choice (Reisling) was not available, so we selected a higher priced Chardonnay. There was no offer for reducing the price of the wine to compensate for the lack of inventory.
Not a good evening for us nor the restaurant staff. Again, they seem inexperienced in e even the simple tasks of waiting on a customer."

"We used to enjoy coming to this restaurant and even brought out of town guests here first over other choices. And, we used to consider it a gem in restaurant-starved Chester County. But, it appears to be going downhill. Food quality not as good and prices went up recently with new menu. Service is also subpar and bartender lady too loud and chatty. "We tried Firecreek's new menu the first night it was available. However it seemed the kitchen wasn't ready for the new menu, as the only dish that wasn't overcooked was my Caesar salad appetizer. My husband ordered the rib appetizer, which arrived charred to a crisp in some spots. His duck breast entree was overdone, and the potato side that came with it looked like a hockey puck, completely burned on the bottom. I had the mahi mahi which was also overcooked to the point of dryness. The service was very good, and we were able to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather on the patio, which was very nice. Unfortunately the poor quality of the food was a disappointment."

"My husband & I split our lunch entree's. I had the grownup grilled cheese which I liked, and he had the pulled pork sandwich. The sauce on the pork was way too sweet. It was sugary without any sort of tang. He said the yam fries were very good. We'll definitely go back, we'll just avoid the pulled pork."

"We went for brunch and I think the food was fair. They ran out of a lot of things, bacon, roast beef, and many desserts. We waited a half hour to be seated even though we had reservations. "My husband and I came to Firecreek for their Easter Sunday brunch, and we were a bit disappointed. We had reservations and were taken to our table timely which was nice. Our waiter was energetic and had a nice personality, but other than getting us drinks, we never saw him again. As we went to the buffet to get some food, plates weren't getting removed, so our table was piled high with dishes which we didn't care for. When we went for our main course, the buffet was full of empty chafing dishes, so our selection was limited. Firecreek couldn't stay on top of the demand. The main dish of carved beef ran out which was disappointing. All that being said, this was a holiday. We plan to try again on a regular evening for dinner."

"We went on Easter for dinner because it was my wife's birthday and the place was empty which was very nice for us. When we drive by it is typically very crowded and appears noisy. I think it is a "hot spot" in the area for people in their late 20's to mid 40's. It was expensive for a full meal and wine so if you are short on coin you may want to check the prices before taking a date or dining with family there. Our waiter was exceptional and we had a good time."

"We were at Firecrek for an Easter brunch. This was our 2nd time for the brunch. Overall everything was good. The waiter we had did a very good job. The food was good, but not up to Firecreek's normal status. The pastas we just warm, not hot. The organization of the egg and carving station casued for a backup when try to serve food. We each had a cocktail and it was good. Everything was good, but was not great. We have been to Firecreek several times in the past, normally the food and service was excellent."

"We went for Easter brunch buffet at Firecreek. The overall experience was good but not great. We had a reservation but when we arrived no table was ready. This was true for others before and after us. We waited around for 10-15 minutes until a table was ready. The buffet had a decent selection of food but the vegetables and other choices were cold. A couple at a table near us requested hot vegetables and they got them delivered to their table...perhaps that is what we should have done. On the more positive side, the room decor was lovely...the wait staff was courteous and the food selections were nice,hot omelet/egg dishes were prepared at the buffet table, desserts were tasty etc. We would not, however, go for the buffet again."

"Yes Downingtown, they've heard your cry. This is the best model for a successful restaurant. The menu has been reworked and the service has improved by leaps and bounds! If you had a bad service experience, if you thought the food was over complicated.....try this again. I can't wait to sit by the Brandywine River when the weather warms!"

"We love coming to Fire Creek. The food is always wonderful and the service is very good as well. The only down side is that it is extremely noisy especially in the main dining area. It doesn't appear to be as noisy in the dining room with the fireplace, but is still noisy when it is full. I know with all the hard surfaces and open ceiling there is nothing to soak up the noise, so it is what it is. We try if possible to avoid going on weekends due to the noise and will try to go on a week night if that works for everyone."

"Firecreek put on an amazing Valentine's Day special. The chef is an incredibly imaginative genius. Everything was prepared to perfection. We love the atmosphere of Firecreek; it is a very nice atmosphere (above the casual dining of chain restaurants), but not stuffy and too formal. The menu gets better and better every time we go!"

"The only thing good about this place was the wine (which they didn't make). It started with the bread....no butter....they were out...bus boy said they had no money. Bread was horrible. The wedge salad dressing was less than desirable. The steak was one of the worst I ever had. Broccoli was wilted and mushy and potatoes were terrible. Pietro's in West Chester or Sullivans are so much better for this price point. I asked if this was a new chef and they said no. Even when the manager was told (I was not looking for my money back), he neither came over or acknowledged our dissatisfaction. I will never go back...what a horrible waste of $100."

"My husband and I arrived on time for our 7:30 Saturday evening reservation. It was a busy night at FireCreek because it was Valentine's weekend. We had to wait in the bar for our table about 20 minutes. Finally, my impatient husband asked the hostess if we could have any table. I had requested, on OpenTable, a table near the fireplace but the foursome seated there never left. The hostess was waiting so she could seat us there. Luckily we took a nearby table and enjoyed our meal. The foursome was still socializing at their table as we finished our dinner, paid and left. Our waiter was great, the food was very good and I enjoyed the rustic industrial interior."
