Max Amore is the creation of restaurateur Richard Rosenthal and partner Mark Conley. The Northern Italian cuisine has been so well received, a Connecticut Magazine poll rated it "Best New Restaurant" in 1995 and "Reader's Choice" three times. Visit Max Amore for the perfect brick oven pizza stone pie or pastas with the freshest ingredients. Offerings on the menu also include seafood, pork, and beef. Daily specials provide additional opportunities to sample new and creative fare. The extremely professional and knowledgeable staff easily assists guests with Max Amore's expansive, yet reasonable wine list. The ambience at Amore is sophisticated, yet casual. A private dining room is also available for special events.

"I recently visited for my first time with a girlfriend and had my infant son with me and felt completely comfortable. Everything was absolutely delicious! Enjoyed the variety of the menu and was intrigued by multiple desserts! Enjoyed the cherry sundae and my friend enjoyed the bomba. The service was great, up until the end waited probably 30 mins between dishes being cleared and being offered the check. Waitress seemed Mia during this time."

"This was our first time at Max Amore, we were entertaining a friend from California, had a Max gift c.ertificate to use & we are very glad we chose Max Amore. It was not perfect but there were enough good qualities that we will go back. We started with the Calamari (I had read other reviews & it was complimented) rightfully so as it was as tender & tasty as any I have ever had. We also loved the roasted head of garlic that came with the bread. Our waiter, Adam, was excellant - attentive but not hovering & we never felt rushed even though they were very busy. The food was fair..our friends pork chop was a bit dry, he said the flavor was good. I had the tenderloin special with artichoke aioli, one piece of meat was good another was tough."

"This was my second visit to Amore and as expected the food was good. I ordered the Shrimp Gamberi, whihch they make with fresh made pasta in a pesto sauce topped with pine nuts. I would have liked a couple more Shrimp in the meal.
The service was decent. What was strange was the server asking us if we were going to share our meals, because they tag the meal to who ordered it. I have been to some really high end restaurants but never heard of anything like this. I found this annoying.
Server could have been more hospitable.
The maître de was very courteous. We didn't have to wait.
Decor was typical chain restaurant.
Overall a decent restaurant with good food."

"We are hugh fans of the Max Restaurant Group and are frequenters of Max Downtown. We were in the area and thought we would stop by and grab a quick bite at Max a more and we had the most wonderful experience there. My husband had Teddy's sauce and pasta, a specialty at the restaurant and he really enjoyed it. I asked for a special order of spaghetti with clams and it was delicious. Wonderful tuscan salad started the meal. Our service was impeccable. Thank you Max a more for a great evening."

"I made a reservation for 8 pm, and I was not seated until 830 pm, and I was not offered compensation for this. The only explaination I was offered was that the kitchen was "overwhelmed". I made a point to tell the waitress that it was my girlfriend's birthday that evening, and yet to "celebrate" we were offered a plate with whipped cream and a candle as a birthday dessert. I was embarrassed to be offered this as a birthday treat, and felt terrible for my girlfriend. The food itself was good, but I did not feel it was worth the high price. I found myself wishing we had gone to Bertuccis, where at least I would have felt that the food was worth the price. I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not be returning"

"We've been going to a Max restaurant since Max Downtown first opened in the late 80's and Max Amore since April of 1995 when they opened. It is consistently all good, all the time and our all-time, favorite place, period. You cannot go wrong with any of the Max Group restaurants. They run a first class operation, and it shows. "While food was good the kitchen screwed up our order and left one course off. Manager made up for it with free dessert.
Noise level very loud with voices from other patrons over whelming and intrusive.
I'd go back, but for a late seating after it quiets down from the rush."

"When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated promptly. That turned out to be misleading as we had to wait more than 10 minutes for our waiter to come to the table. After he did arrive, he apologized for the delay and we were served. The food turned out to be disappointing as my wife ordered chicken parmesan and it was very tough. Perhaps they prepared this dish earlier and simply re-heated it. Also, she ordered an eleven oz. glass of wine but only received a nine ounce portion. Needless to say, we will have to think twice about going back to Max Amore."

"as usual--great service, great food. Could you consider putting the specials in writing again? It is easier to read them rather than having to remember what the waiter said.
