Steve and Rocky's
Steve & Rocky's purchases live oysters, lobsters, mussels, day boat caught fin fish, (un-soaked) sea scallops, fresh aged meats, extremely fresh produce, real heavy cream, pure unsalted butter, imported cheeses, and extra virgin olive oil. All of these fresh ingredients are rigorously specified based on our extremely high and exacting standards, painstakingly shopped based upon seasonality, and carefully inspected upon receipt. At Steve & Rocky's, critical ingredients are delivered daily to insure freshness. Their purveyors know that they will not accept anything but the absolute best quality ingredients and after years of working with them and competing to earn their business, they only send their very best. In the summer months, Chef Steve grows organic produce for the restaurant on his personal micro-farm.
Though many say Steve & Rocky's specializes in Seafood, Chefs Steve Allen and Chuck Rachwitz feel that the menu is diverse with something for every one's taste.

"The Open Table website lead me to believe that Steve & Rocky's was serving Mother's Day brunch which is why we made reservations there. When we arrived at Steve & Rocky's we found out that was not the case. This was very disappointing when we were expecting brunch. Our meals that we ordered were good, but it wasn't brunch!"

"Food was excellent and the service was timely. Piano was great, but a little too loud at times, making conversation a bit difficult. None at our table of 4 was under 55 years old, yet the server persisted in calling us "kids". It was most likely because it was Mother's Day, and we were obviously with our mother. I would have thought he got the hint when we didn't respond positively to it the first time he said it. It made the outing a little less than perfect, but it was still pretty good none the less. We had sauted perch, whitefish, sea scallops, and salmon, and all were very unique and well prepared."

"Great food as always at Steve and Rocky's. The Shirmp and Spring veg soup was wonderful as was the Seafood al a Nage. My only complaint was with the hostess staff. We had a reservation for 1:30. Arrived at 1:20, did not get seated until 1:40. No apologies just a comment that "We can't make people leave". My expectation of a restaurant of this caliber would be for them to apologize they are late on my reservation and offer a complimentary drink at the bar so A. The diner is happy and B. They are out of the small entry way . When we were seated it took another 12-15 minutes to get a waiter.

"Not only was the filet mignon perfectly cooked but the price was reasonable. We eat at many of metro-detroit reputable eateries and are often disappointed even the London Chop House didn't serve up the tasty filet we had at Steve & Rocky's. We will drop in again to see if the quality is sustainable. Atmosphere was nice with the piano playing and the bar was cozy...oh the Long Island was very, very good."

"What a wonderful find! I was able to make a reservation on short notice (through Open Table) & was seated immediately upon our arrival. (The restaurant was packed for a Saturday at 7 pm mind you). The service was exceptional & the food was truly delicious! The patrons were mostly adults, however, there were some children there as well. The restaurant also had a nice bar area for those looking for just a drink or an appetizer . I would highly recommend this place & will definitely visit again in the future. Definitely worth a try!"

"We go to Steve & Rocky's for that special occasion meal as they offer a menu that we certainly don't prepare at home. The ambiance is what I"d call 'gourmet's contemporary' ie. it's a popular place because the food is so good. (You wouldn't want the tables much closer, but there's still enough space for an intimate evening.) The piano playing in the background remains a nice touch. Both the Sole and Acorn Squash dishes were superb (which we shared at the table on the extra plates the waiter offered.)

"We went in a group of six good friends, two just back in town for a graduation. Service was superb; our server gave us time to talk without being rushed, but with careful attention, excellent knowledge of the menu and good recommendations. Everyone raved about the food; two had vegetarian, three seafood, and one pork. Background piano was at the right sound level so that we could talk without shouting across the table. All and all, the perfect experience for our occasion."

"We had an opentable reservation for 4. We ended up having one more and the hostess reassured us right away that it was not a problem. That was so nice, not to have to worry about if we would be accommodated. We were quickly seated and not rushed throughout our dinner, even though it was very busy. The food was perfect! We ordered perch, scallops and a whitefish dinner, all were excellent! We also loved the bread and we were thrilled when Anthony brought more without us having to ask. The music was very nice as well, not too loud and the choices played were appropriate dining music. It was our very first time dining at S & R and the five of us concurred that we will be back! Wonderful dining experience!"

"Food is usually pretty good, but portion size varies greatly from dish to dish. My wife ordered a steak and potatoes with vegetable dish, and ordered a scallop carbonara on potato gnocchi. They both tasted great, but while my wife's was a moderatley sized meal, mine was what you would expect from a child's portion. We have encountered this variance before, and it is getting to the point we would rather go someplace else."

"A must is the Steve & Rockys ceasar salad. It's big enough for two so split it with a friend. The bread arrives piping hot and is delicious. My daughter and I had the cod wrapped in kind of a puff pastry.....although the pastry tasted like it was deep fried. It was ok but would not order again. The guys both had chicken dishes, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Service was prompt and very knowledgeable."

"I came here with my family for my birthday. The food was great. I loved the house salad with cranberries and grapefruit. The salmon was perfect. I had the creme brulee for dessert. It wasn't the best (tasted too burnt), but the rest of the meal made up for it. Our server was extremely polite, maybe a little over the top, but I'm sure that's how they're told to be. She misunderstood what my mom wanted to order and she fixed it right away and was very nice about it. There weren't many people in the room so it was quiet and the decor is pretty cool. It was a good balance between casual and formal so it's good for many occasions. I enjoyed my meal and would recommend this place to anyone."

"A friend and I dined here after shopping. The reservation time was honored, we were shown to our table immediately after arriving on a busy Saturday evening. Our server was attentive and pleasant. "Waited 45 minutes WITH a reservation. Also, they were out of several entrees (it was only 8:30 pm) - out of duck (my wife's first choice), chicken (her second) and several others. She settled on a bowl of soup. I had the pork chop (which I admit, was very good). Food was served out . Albeit was a Saturday night, we waited at the bar for quite a while. Several large groups (prom?). We had two waiters, but after being greeted after being seated (by Matt), never saw him again. After about ten minutes, his co-worker waited on us. I recommend, but avoid the weekend unless you like to wait, crowds and noise. One last thing: piano player was excellent."

"We met with friends we have not seen for a very long time. We had great service (waiter respected that we wanted to talk and catch up on things)food was delicious, served hot and the presentation was excellent. I will definately continue to frequent this restaurant."

"Hadn't been there in over ten years and we were hesitant to try the restaurant again since friends of ours said they didn't really care for Steve and Rocky's. We were celebrating an anniversary and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. Our waiter, Jorge, was excellent and made the whole experience much more special. We had the monkfish and also the filet, both of which were very tasty. My husband loved the carrot cake. My key lime pie was the only thing I was not too crazy about. Also, the house salads were very good (tasty and fresh).
Pianist was playing and many full tables, but our table was far enough away we had no problem hearing each other. Of course, a little pricey, but we will return for sure"

"Front door was paint chipped from the start. Interior was a combo of wrought iron Art Deco and some nikelodeon type room divider. The table for 4 was way too small but I will say they had some great wine on the list. Service was ok. Ne manager to greet you at your table. Has a long way to go to be fine dining. But that is probably not what they were going for. 7:30 on a Sunday night had a lot of little kids there"

"We hadn't been to Steve and Rocky's in many years. We were very surprised at how good the food was. Four of us ate and each one had something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The presentation was lovely and soup to salad to entree to dessert, we remarked at how tasty it was. Jill was our server and she was great. We had a wonderful booth and were seated when we arrived. We will definitely be back!"
