"My wife and I had a night out with a musical event at the Chan Center. This restaurant had excellent proximity that made for no rush dining for an 8pm event. The food tasted excellent with a good variety of items for non-meat eaters ie lots of seafood entrees. The fish tacos were a bit dull tasting. Otherwise the service was attentive. The pricing seemed a bit on the steep side - $20 for 4 scallops, but they were very tasty. The minor negative is the decor. Very austere - which can work, but we sat next to an ugly wall of faux rock (cement) that somehow detracted from the ambiance. Sound levels were also very high. A table of 12 people next to us produced a volume of sound that made it almost impossible to communicate."

"The staff at Baru Latino Restaurante were top notch. My wife and I came for an early dinner at 530p and had a chance to pick any seat in the house so we chose one by the window. From top to bottom the food and service was 110%. The cocktails are doubles and the mains (Duck and Pork) were more than enough to fill even the hungriest person. Will definitely come back for more goodies!"

"We chose different items from the menu. I had the short ribs to start...we both thought they were fantastic. She had the scallop starter...awesome! Portion size is great. you can just have the Tapas if you want to eat light. For entrees, she had the crusted halibut which was flavourful, moist and flaky white very good....I had the Argenitian steak with beets...cooked to order flavourful and tender - I recommend! Baru also has a great wine selection and nice cocktail selection. Two tapas, two entrees, two cocktails and two glasses of Malbec (fantastic) were about $150 with tip. We'd recommend this for a special occasion or just go to share tapas and a nice cocktail and glass of wine."

"I chose this restaurant for Dine Out for the menu choices and because it is local. Once again it delivered on its promises, and everything was excellent. "We dined during the Dine Out Vancouver and was not very impressed with the food despite the good ratings we saw at many places. The portions were very small in our opinion and not sure if this was intentional for the Dine Out promotion. We ordered Halibut for my wife and we felt the sauce was extremely tangy. Some of the garnishings used in the appetizers and the entrees were same. The drinks felt a bit diluted too. The service was very good with friendly staff."

"As first time diners at Baru, we were impressed with everything... Being that it was Dine Out Vancouver, it was very busy, but the service was excellent (they held our table when we were running late, they brought us wine samples when we couldn't decide what to order - little things that made a big difference to our evening.
The Dine Out menu offered choices that were beyond the standard, and everything we had was excellent.

"it is actually great to have Baru Latino at the dine out list. For me, the reason to try out this one is pretty simple, I am craving for Paella! Although their paella did not surprise me, it is actually quite mediocre, their desert definitely come with above-par quality. It is so smooth, and the use of raspberry jam is perfect!"

"We were disappointed with the tasting experience at Baru Latino Restaurant during Dine Out Vancouver 2013. For appetizers, only the Ecuadorian Red Ceviche was quite delicious. In terms of entrees, the Cartegena Crusted Halibat was bland and dry while the Paella Baru was a very small portion and disappointing in taste as well as in presentation. Only the Costillas de Res (beef short rib) entrée was very nicely prepared but it was a very small serving probably a tapas size portion size rather than an entrée size portion. The Latin Flan was too heavy. Service was good but would recommend increase in lighting so one can view the food. Would not recommend this restaurant to friends."
