"Lived in the area for so long, thought we would finally give Sunset's a try. Our service was really great and it was easy to have a larger group here. The food was okay - a bit of an overdose of cheese on the flatbreads and burgers. The burgers were pretty good, the flatbreads not so much - they were a bit sweet and too heavy. Overall - probably great for a drink and a snack, but I probably would not eat a full meal here again. That being said - its been around a long time and I'm sure many people like it, just not on my list. As a side note - the kettle chips served as a side were tasty!"

"Small birthday party to include the birthday girl turning 95 years old and her husband who already is 95. Had an 11:45 reservation and still had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get in. Had asked for a window table and after 20 minutes asked for any table not in the bar. Many customers waiting and some left to eat elsewhere."

"The food was good but not noteworthy. Salad dressing tasted bottled and desserts not all made in house. My biggest concern was the service. We were not offered refills on water or coffee throughout the meal. We had to flag down the waiter and inquire about desserts. He said there was a cart "somewhere" but didn't appear very interested in finding it so he rattled off a somewhat lengthy list without much interest. He seemed somewhat disinterested that we were even there.
I would go again because the food was OK and the lakeview was very nice - I would certainly entertain stopping by once the patio is open! And I would hope for a different server."

"Food and drink were very good, I had the chopped salad, my companion had the soup and sandwich. Even with a late lunch at 12:30, still very loud to me. Parking was a pain due to road construction and not near enough parking on the street or in the nearby parking ramp."

"We have always enjoyed heading to Sunsets and especially when the weather permits outdoor dining, as this location has great views of Lake Minnetonka. This recent visit, we were completely disappointed with the food - pasta was lacking flavor, the meatloaf was dry and hard, mashed potatoes tasted like cardboard ( possibly they came out of a box....) - and the beer tasted as if the taplines had not been cleaned sufficiently. Unfortunately, our wait staff was overworked with not enough help for the clientele. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to this restaurant that beautiful weather brings many diners to the waterfront.....but it seemed as if they were caught completely off guard. Will we return? Maybe one more time....."

"Disappointing.... What no clam chowder or salmon on the Friday dinner menu. What areyou folks thinking. We ended up ordering a reuben sandwich which was served with no dressing (mustard or thousand island) which is typically served. When a trainee askedhow we were doing, a request was made for dressing. It was served quickly. A second sandwich of turkey and cheese was ordered. It was tasteful. However, the potatoe salad that was ordered in place of chips was outstanding. In summary, our visit was madethinking chowder and salmon are usually staples of a Friday dinner menu. Not onlywere we disappointed, we do not plan to come back until these items are available onthe Friday menu."

"We have had very good experiences dining at Sunsets before but this time was not one of them. My husband's fish entre had many bones left in the filet. We ordered a second glass of wine when our food was served but did not receive the wine until dessert. We also were not asked about our satisfaction with the entres."

"Three former roommates held our semi-annual roommate lunch at Sunsets on Saturday. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Our servers could not have been more pleasant and accommodating and helpful and they helped make our get-together even more fun. The restaurant was great about fulfilling my request to seat us near an outlet because one of our party is on oxygen and we all appreciated that.

"Sunsets is a favorite, and being from out of town, I try to go there during each visit to Wayzata. Generally, the food is excellent; however this visit, two of us had eggs for breakfast that were very under-done (both over-easy and over-medium). It's a rare thing to have an unsatisfactory meal, so we'll continue to return."

"We went to celebrate birthdays which coincided with the day before St. Patrick's Day so we were glad to have reservations due to the crowds. We arrived a little early, but they were able to seat us right away at a table that we requested. It was very busy and our waitress was hustling to accommodate everyone. To be fair, she did her best and got us our drinks right away. The food was a little slow in arriving, but it was a very busy night and we were fine with it and in no rush. Once the food arrived, it was fresh, the right temperature, and everyone enjoyed their selection. Sunsets is right on Lake Minnetonka in quaint and lovely Wayzata. It's especially good for families and fun and relaxed outdoor dining."

"We have been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. There is a patio outside overlooking Lake Minnetonka which I imagine is a great place to dine in summer. You can't reserve tables on the patio, though, it's strictly first come first served. Inside, we have very much enjoyed our meals and the service has been great. Definitely one to come back to."

"Cold winter day and we were seated at a high top table as we requested right by the fireplace. All the choices were delicious. There was lots from which to choose. The food was replenished quickly and there was always a staff person to answer which ingredients were in each dish at the buffet. Very reasonably priced and we were able to stay as long as we wanted to sit and chat. It was my boyfriends first time ever having brunch and he is looking forward to going back and this time bringing friends with us."

"Made a reservation 1 month in advance for Valentines day. Seated immediately by hostess then waited 15-20 minutes before sighting our waitress. Had to ask a nearby waitress (not ours) for a bottle of wine and to find our waitress. Our waitress had no apology or reason for not welcoming us for 20 minutes. This was the common theme for the entire night. We were constantly searching the area for our waitress all night. We would have left immediately but we knew it would be impossible to find an open table on VDay. Spoke to Manager regarding issue with waitress and our bill being incorrect. Manager was very nice and understanding. The food was delicious. No complaints on their steak or walleye penne. Nothing was comped for us, little surprised."

"My wife and I enjoyed Sunsets. The food was above average and they had a nice selection of wines. I particularly liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. Warm colored wood and open air ceiling made me feel very comfortable. I look forward to visiting in summer so I can take in the view that was only hinted at in winter, when we visited."

"We arrived earlier than our reservation, but were seated relatively quickly. Pretty impressive since we went on Valentines day and they were fairly busy. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm, and the food was great."

"My wife and I went for Valentines Day. She ordered the ribeye which was cooked to order but was very fatty and tasteless. I ordered the pan fried walleye which was average. The server was not very attentive given the restaurant was not very busy for it being Valentines Day. We have no interest in dining here again. Overall it was average at best. I had friends tell me how good it was so we were disappointed."

"Sunsets is a great restaurant. If there is one flaw it is the noise level in the
restaurant. If it is crowded, it is rather hard to have a conversation with
others at the table. We all felt our meals, and we each had something different,
were very good and the service was also very satisfactory. Being a local, we
tend to forget about Sunsets, but I think in the future it will be a top restaurant
to go to in the future. We in the Wayzata area are quite fortunate to have a
restaurant of its caliber in our midst."

"The food/service were very good. Black mark was that although we had a reservation, the first 2 to arrive gave my name & were seated. I arrived about one minute later. I asked if anyone in my party had arrived, the host said yes right away & then said let me check. Then he said no I was the first to arrive. I waited 25 minutes for my party to arrive & decided to look around to see if they might just be there already waiting for me. I found them in another part of the restaurant. I was very irritated as were the others in my party. I spoke to the host and told him what happened. He looked a little sheepish & said I'm sorry. I told him he needed to manage his reservations better. The manager comped our meals and apologized."
