Tsunami is like a wave of the hip urbane. Dim lights, house music, a good looking wait staff flavor the cozy sushi and sake bar-flanked dining room.
Tsunami offers the seas' freshest bounty paired with one of the largest, most sophisticated sake selections found on the west coast. The bar also offers an array of high end spirits from Gin to Great Japanese single malts. Tsunami bar creates an amazing list of cocktails that combine both modern & classic cock-tailing. Corkage is a sake & wine retail shop connected to Tsunami where you can find 100's of bottles to choose from either to take home or open for your dinner with a $10 corkage fee at the restaurant.
One of the great draws next to the incredible fresh authentic sushi, is the late night food offering till 12 midnight weekdays & 1am weekends.
"Wow Tsunami was wonderful. The selection of sake was amazing. The sushi was delish. I love the urbane combined with the Asian feel of the restaurant.I hope to return soon and also chck out the other locations as well."

"This is my third time at Tsunami. This last time, the ambience and food were good; however, the service was only so-so. In their defense, this reservation was at 11pm so perhaps the servers/ hostesses were tired? They just had little spark and all seeed drained and bored. My particular waitress was the same; little personality/life and was slow to check-up/ refill water, etc. I would still recommend this place but only with a voucher. With the prices for the rolls and the "I'm from LA and too cool for school/ bored to be doing my job" attitude, one caneasily go to one of many other fantastic sushi joins in the city and pay less and havea server who is actually friendly."

"Even an average sushi chef should've known not to send out tuna with that much gristle on it. Service was all over the place as well. Will not be going back as there are too many other sushi restaurants in SF."

"I tried Tsunami Sushi Panhandle as part of an Amazon Local deal. My roommate had raved about and convinced me to get the deal. I set up a reservation for 7PM on Saturday. When my boyfriend and I arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff. It is worthy of note that a number of the tables aren't really private and you may have to share a table, good thing that wasn't a problem for us! The food was fantastic albeit a little pricey, but well worth it! The only complaint I had was that it was a little hard to get the waitresses attention at times, but that's because there weren't many working the floor. Aside from that, I would love to go back!"

"i love this restaurant, but we had a bad experience. we had a living social coupon for $50 worth of food. we ordered a few things, and they were wonderful. the dinner took a turn when we waited over a half hour for our last roll, which we ended up cancelling. we only had about $40 worth of food, but didn't get our voucher back to use another time. it was disappointing, and i left hungry."

"If you are at all serious about Japanese food, don't go to this restaurant. They don't depart from the traditional so much as mangle it. The bincho carpaccio was sloppy to look at, the fish had a mushy texture, and the truffle oil was not a welcome addition to the party. The crab salad was pretty good, but the crab got overwhelmed, and our portion had so many nuts on it that we left about a quarter cup behind. The hamachi kama was very good, but the smallest I've ever been served. The sushi rolls we got were sloppily made and mushy to eat. The hamachi was unremarkable. Good hamachi makes me swoon, and this made me shrug. The service was pleasant and efficient."

"Not enough waitstaff, could have used a little variety in the fish selection... What we did eat was marvelous though... It was too loud for me to remember exactly what it was"

"A perennial favorite. Terrific sake menu, terrific whiskey menu, terrific sushi. Skip the fancy maki - go for the nigiri, which uses excellent fresh fish."
