121 Hudson Street
New York, NY 10013

Opened in 2006 by world famous restaurateur Michael Chow, this is the second post to the original in NYC on 57th Street. Mr. Chow's latest & hippest location is surrounded by a Patio & the attractive bar opens at 5:00PM daily, welcoming all guests. NY Magazine wrote in 2006 "To eat at a Mr Chow restaurant is to participate in a roving party, one that has migrated through four decades, three continents, & an awful lot of soup dumplings." TriBeCa's Executive Chef Kwok Hor, is a highly respected professional in the Chinese Cuisine Industry & has given many lectures at The Hong Kong Culinary Association. MR CHOW's menu is a combination of old authentic Beijing & Original Recipes. Chicken Sate, MR CHOW Noodles & Ma Mignon all were created by our passionate & skillful chefs. Also on the Menu is one of the best prepared Beijing Duck in the world. Zagat writes MR CHOW is "home to over-the-top everything, from the celebrity scene to the superior spin on Chinese cuisine."

Review 11 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"This restaurant had stunning decor from the pristinely white orchids and roses on the tables to the white tuxedo jackets the waiters were sporting. The food was heavy and filling but very tasty. The family style selection was ideal for small to large groups. The squab lettuce wraps with plum sauce was the sure fire star of the show. Very enjoyable and would totally refer friends to dine there."

Review 14 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"Our dinner was very disappointing. We went on Valentines day knowing that there was a limited menu and a fixed price. What we received for the fixed price, the restaurant should be embarassed. We paid $85/per person and the food was not any better and perhaps worse than our local chinese restaurant. we would NEVER go back."

"have been to MR Chow on 57th before. while the food seemed every bit as good, the feel at the NY original just seems better. i missed the chef hand-making the noodles in front of the dining room. i would definitely go back, as the food was good, but given my choice, i would rather Chow 57"

Review 18 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"This place is uber trendy. The wait staff was very attentive, but it's a bit too much of a "scene" for us. We went here for Restaurant Week and so we felt like they just wanted to get us in and out so the "real customers" could come in. Some of the items on the menu were amazing: Chicken Satay, Sea Bass. The Mr. Chow noodles and dessert were just ok."

Review 20 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

"We had a great dining experience. The only complaint that we had was that the waiters wouldn't leave us alone. They were on top of us and it felt like they wanted to get us out of there as quickly as possible. We had to tell the waiters to stop taking our dishes because we were not done. Otherwise the food was great!!!!"

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"It was amazing the first time in Tribeca and I loved it.Everybody pays a great attention to the guests they are friendly even if we waited a little bit that was fine because they have a beautiful bar where everybody can chill. We order from regular menu and it was awesome,I don't understand why you people complain "hello" it is restaurant week and you complain because you are eating in same restaurant where DeNiro,Dicaprio dined for only 35 $ and you don' like even to wait and the portions of food for yo are to small. You just don't respect the place people.Mr Chow is the best I feel like a celebrity anytime there."

Review 27 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"When I arrived the coat check was "full" and so I had to lug around my winter jacket all night long.
The host team didn't really communicate very well about wait times. We waited 30min on a 7:30 reservation, which wasn't really a big deal, except that they didn't really communicate the wait time to us (so we knew how comfortable to get at the bar) or apologize for such a long wait on a reservation.
It was strange that they didn't have a specialty cocktail list - we were all in the mood to drink, and everyone was disappointed that there weren't fun new drinks to try.
The food was disappointing - no stand out dishes the whole night.
On the positive side, the service team was very attentive and professional.

Review 29 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"We foound the wait staff inattentive and disorganized. Several waiters asked repetitive, already answered questions. Yet only a "captain" could take an order. Happened to be there for restaurant week, unfortunately. One of us in our party of 2 wanted to order a la carte. One of us wanted the prix fixe. Yet they required a minimum of 2 guests in order to get the restaurant week prix fixe. That made no sense and was an inconvenience. There is also no way to order Peking duck unless you have a party of 3 (That would cost you about $60/person). Food was good as far as Chinese food goes. Though portions are pretty small and $20 appetizers and $45 entrees is exorbitant, even for TriBeCa. Loud and crowded, not much space between tables."

"Unfortunately, we were very disappointed at Mr Chow's. We had high expectations and the food was a huge let down. The chicken satay tasted like cardboard. It was the worst I have ever had. Review 32 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"I went here for restaurant week, and it was the worst dining experience of my life. By stating that we were there for the occassion, we basically agreed to be treated like second class citizens. Rude: we had to fight to keep our appetizer plates while we were eating off them, as they rushed us to the main course. Overpriced: for $35 we got no choices and were not even shown a menu; our third "course" was a scoop of ice cream for each of us on one plate in the middle of the table. Bad: dogfood jokes abound at our table, we were even shorted on white rice, which is the only thing people actually liked; after three times asking they finally brought us another kind of rice which we would have had to pay for. Terrible, terrible, terrible."

Review 36 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"Restaurant is fair, not great. Overpriced. Servers are professional and efficient. Kept waiting 30 minutes for a table even though arrived on time with a reservation. This is unacceptable. They obviously overbooked. Will not return."

Review 38 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"My dining experience at Mr. Chow was unfortunately really bad. The food was not good, the mignon was tough and not cooked well and the rest of the food was just average. However, the worst part of the experience was the service. Everything was extremely rushed, it was obvious that the objective was to turn over the table as quickly as possible. Very unpleasant experience. I will not go back again."

Review 44 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"I have heard in the past mixed reviews from various people about Mr. Chow, and I must diffuse the negative rumors. My dining experience was optimal, and inviting. The food was incredible and so was the service. My friend and I treated our best friend to dinner there for her birthdy and she had a blast! I loved the posh decor and music playing while we dined. Awesome experience."

Review 46 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I enjoyed a pre-birthday (50th)dinner at Mr. CHOW on December 22nd, 2009. I had so much fun with my friend and the overall experience was wonderful. My server was polite, professional and courteous. He had a constant smile. His recommendations for food and champagne were fantastic. I laughed so much, and the evening was special. The noise level was a little high, mainly because the restaurant attracted several small groups that evening in the midst of the holidays."

Review 47 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Although the service people were nice, the service was slow and sometimes completely absent. I like the Tribeca location better than 57th because it was calmer and not as crowded. The space was also more elegant. The food was fabulous except that the Gambler's duck was overdone and a little dry."

Review 48 for MR CHOW - TriBeca

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The atmosphere was wonderful, a little bit of a squeeze at the tables for two, as they have banqet style only along the back, there were other tables if you want privacy request one of those. It got louder as the evening progressed.
Loved everything except the crab soup was quite tasteless.
The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable.
Quite a different atmosphere from the 57th location, this location is ultra modern.
But enjoyed the evening, ending with a white chocolate mousse and tawny port.

"We had a great dinner, loved the food. The service was attentive but too pushy for my taste. We definitely had the impression that they were trying to turn the table from the minute we sat down. For that reason I can't add Mr. Chow to my list of favorites."
