"The food was excellent; the service was rushed and distroyed enjoying the meal. We had to ask for a waiter to take our drink order and then were rushed through dinner. We had told the restaurant that we needed to be out by 7:30; we arrived at 6 pm, and once we asked for a waiter to take the drink order, the service was so rushed that we were done with dinner by 6:45. That, even after we told the waiter, when the appetizers cames before we took two sips of our drinks, that we weren't in that much of a rush."

"The bread sticks seemed a little old. The calamari was very bland, over cooked. Pasta course and main course, we all had veal, were excellent. Wine selection was fine with good selections in various price points--and ours was rgood for the price--middle. Service was very good, they werevery accomodating for changes that we wanted, including doing something not on the menue. I have gone to this resturant since it opened and think while not as great as it once was, it is still one of the best Italian places in town at reasonable price."

"The place has a cozy vibe and when seated near the front and the front window/doors are open, one feels like dining in an outdoor cafe--very nice. The back room has soft lighting and feels intimate and special. You can actually have a conversation here. However the food doesn't live up to the ambiance. Two of our party had the lamb shank and said it was not served hot enough and was just so-so in flavor. I had the snapper wrapped in potato slices on a cauliflower puree. The fish didn't taste fresh and the curried cauliflower puree tasted sour. The accompanying mixed vegetables were crisp and fresh; a nice selection too. All of the diners in our party agreed the food was nothing special and not worth the price."

"The food was a reasonable price, but just OK. The place was nearly empty on a Friday night. Wine list very limited. It's a good place for lunch and an OK place for dinner. Service was good but not exceptional, considering the limited patronage."

"Food was delicious - asparagus salad with fresh Parmesan so seasonal and lovely and homemade pasta with beef ragu yummy. 1/2 portion was plenty. Service was a little aloof especially given I alerted the restaurant we had Kennedy center tix."

"We made a last minute reservation for a group of 12 for lunch, and Primi Piatti had no problem accommodating us. The service was efficient and friendly. The pasta dishes were absolutely fantastic. The linguine special that day, with rubina and squid, was perfection--flavorful, the just right portion size, not overly salty or greasy. Everyone in our party was happy with his/her order. We'd definitely return."

"Asked to sit outside, and while it was on the cool side, it was a nice evening to eat al fresco. WHile we waited for our dining guests, we shared a Pizza Positano which was delicicous. Nice crisp crust, fresh arugula and a decent amount of prosciutto. My salad was dissapointing. It was supposed to be porcini mushrooms and celery with a lemon dressing. The mushrooms were button mushrooms. The celery was crisp and refreshing and the lemon did it all justice. I had the orrchiette con rapini which was also very satisfying. Pasta done perfectly al dente and the broccoli rabe and sausage highlighted it without being drenched in a sauce. Overall, would bo back."

"Went back for second time in a couple of weeks and it was excellent again. Took grandson on a Saturday night and they treated him like a special guest. Salads to begin were fresh and delicious. Pasta dishes were both tasty and prefectly prepared. The spaghetti with black ink was superb and the risotto special was great. They prepared a simple pasta for the 4 year old and then sent him strawberries with whipped as a dessert. This restaurant makes the best pastas in the city."

"We had a very nice dinner at Primi Piatti. We had an outdoor table which was nothing special, but nice to dine al fresco after a long winter! Our server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Service was efficient and friendly. The eggplant rollatini appetizer was small but very tasty. The signature veal dish (bocconcini) and the fish special were fresh, well cooked, and delicious. They provided a generous portion of pasta for our son and he said it was excellent. Very enjoyable meal."

"My wife and I work nearby and were meaning to dine at Primi for a while now. I am not sure if they had an off day but with the exception of the host, the staff including the Floor Manager and wait-staff seemed uninterested and disconnected. They seemed to be bickering among themselves instead of attending to the tables. Maybe we were dining a bit late and were not dressed in business attire compared to the other diners but it seemed we were invisible. We had to get their attention several times to just order. The wine selection was great and food was OK with the exception of the soup (pasta fagioli), which was well spiced and aromatic but over-salted to the point that we had to send it back."

"The foor at Primi Piatti rarely falters. Grilled fish continues to shine. But the prices at lunch have pushed this place to the upper limits for a routine business lunch."

"My husband were treating ourselves to lunch between a series of appointments. And we were treated! We shared an appetizer of carpaccio - a lovely preparation and presentation. Then we each had the same entree, abbacchio alla romana, lamb with a wonderful combination of herbs. We will return."

"I have been a big fan of Primi Piatti for many years already, using their Wine Room (very private and beautiful) for private dinners with high-level international delegations, and stopping by occasionally for a special-occasion lunch or dinner, and have never had anything less than great experience. The food (eggplant and calamari appetizers, black-ink pasta, pork chops special and tuna) was excellent, house wines (chianti and merlo) were very good. The service was also excellent, as always, - very attentive and friendly but without hovering. And it feels great to be recognized by waitstaff even after you have not been to the place for months. I would greatly recommend this place."

"A nice place to have good Italian food with professional, friendly service. Nice room side walk available, nice, relaxed bar. Conversation was easily had and the background music was nice and quiet. I'd go back again. fits like a comfortable sweater. The Rissoto was fabulous!"

"We were disappointed -- small portions for the price (a $15-8 inch pizza sounds like prices at the Verizon Center and $10 salads that were good, but hardly special!!) Its a dated atmosphere, but the service was good. We wanted a light meal, but it won't be there again."

"The food was terrible. When I told the waiter that my risotto was chewy he offered to "cook it some more." The other dishes at our table were entirely one dimensional tasting either of salt or onion powder."

"Went back to Primi after a couple of months and had excellent food and service. Took our 4 year old grandson and they were so nice to him, allowed him to order a plain pasta dish even though not on menu and brought him a juice with a glass of cherries, which he had requested. When we went to watch chefs work, head chef asked if he wanted strwberries for dessert. Couldn't have been nicer. As for us, had 2 delicious pasta dishes, black fettucini with seafood and a penne with mushrooms. Both cooked perfectly, al dente not mushy like at most Italian restaurants, and could not decide which was better. The 2 salads as starters well equally excellent and both were fresh and served at a perfect temperature.
Will definitley be back soon, es"

"Delays in getting menus and lack of coordination among staff regarding desserts (ordered, but only upon our insistence finally arrived) and we were too late in getting the check. There needs to be more oversight for quick lunch events during working hours, regards"

"Located in a central area but one whose road we do not usually travel, this was a great find. Food was excellent, though we did not have other than pizzas and salads: both excellent. Reasonably priced excellent wine. Super-service: friendly, accommodating and efficient. Added bonus: it offers 1000 points frequently. We will return for all these reasons."

"Odd service--there was a special lunch menu but the waiter didn't seem to be aware of it. The lunch was good but not great--soup with lentils, cavatelli with mushrooms, cheese cake (the best part of the meal!). The bread was good but only tapenade, no butter or olive oil. This is now the only "gourmet" Italian restaurant in our neighborhood, since Teatro Goldoni closed, so I will be eating here more often and am hopeful for some outstanding meals."

"The service is elegant, friendly and reliable. The staff has been at the restaurant for many years, clearly remembers us (including our eating preferences!) and makes it a point of welcoming us personally with each visit. The food is always excellent, and the meals are prepared pursuant to special requests without hesitation."

"Food was uninspiring to say the least, and really not anything you could not easily come up with at home. Pasta with anything added such as shrimp, lobster, or even sausage was mostly just pasta. The food was extremely overpriced considering the taste and the fact that all you were really getting was pasta and saouce with a little seafood or saussge thrown in. Not recommended."

"A tightly packed Valentine's Day evening may account for the slow service through most of our meal -it appeared our waiter had a full row of tables. My girlfriend a gnocchi lover was not disappointed in hers. For a Midwesterner like me, the food lacked the extra something that I expect for the price. After dinner the waiter asked if we would like coffee or the dessert menu. My girlfriend asked to see the dessert menu. After about 15 minutes, the check, not the dessert menu, arrived. Not being able to flag our waiter for about 8-10 more minutes, we decided to just pay the check and, again, waited just shy of 10 minutes for him to pick it up."
