"Hello everyone!
My partner and I was at Bishop's for dinner two nights ago and we had a wonderful experience. The food was very tasty & beautifully presented. We do have one comment on the Dungeness Crab Risotto - we can barely find any dungeness crab in the risotto. I can certainly tasted the crab flavor in the Risotto but if you named a dish with "Dungeness Crab Risotto" - people will expect to see a few bigger pieces of crab meat with it? ;-)
The service was very very attentive, professional, efficient and friendly. It happened that I was sneezing at the table - within a minute, our Maitre D' "Abel" came to the table with a small package of Kleenex on a plate. We were very impressed! Abel is also very charming and handsome."

"Had a very pleasant meal at Bishops last Friday - my wife had spot prawns and Halibut. The spot prawns were the star for her - they were fabulous. Her halibut was very good and very nicely finished, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. I had raw kusshi oysters which came with two lemons to squeeze onto them, a grapefruit ice reduction and hot butter - they were extremely good - I love oysters and these were great. The standout for me was the risotto which had clams and mussels in shells, spot prawns, crab - this was in a light sauce that was incredibly tasteful - some light, tasty reduction of some sort. It was a winner and each piece spot prawns, mussels, clams were cooked perfectly. I think it was the best risotto I have had."

"This was my first visit to Bishop's. Our party was very well taken care of by the polite and attentive staff and Mr Bishop himself. The food was excellent, the wine divine. Carefully chosen artworks hung on the walls. They could not have improved a thing. My brother and I chose this place to take my mother who is hard of hearing and we were able to enjoy our conversation and she wasn't left out, a concern at most other restaurants."

"I read about Bishop's on TA and had to visit it. The food was very well-presented but could have had some more taste. The staff (four persons) was very friendly and tried hard. I ordered a dry martini when I arrived, and white wine for the starter and main course. Since I had not finished the drink when the starter was served I did not get the white wine! Dry martini and octopus is not the best combination. The in-between appetizer dishes were very well-presented but did not really fit the rest of the dishes I ordered. I my opinion in-between appetizer should only be used where there is a fixed menu. I had a wonderful halibut as main course which was delicious. I it clear that Bishop's has ambitions, but does not meet gourmet standard."

"I was here last Sunday with my Fiancé for his early birthday dinner. We got there a little late, about 10 minutes, but staff greeted us in a very friendly manner and we felt welcomed at the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Shortly after I sat down at the table, I got up and was about to ask where the washroom was but the server figured it out somehow and walked me to the front of the washroom in person. After I sat down they gave us a complimentary bread and gave us duck confit on crisp cracker which we enjoyed a lot. We ordered Grilled Octopus as an appetizer and Duck breast and Cod for main course. They were all very delicious and weren't overcooked. We will definitely come back here for another special occasion. It is a must visit!"

"Always surprising, and evolving in subtle ways. We had the salmon and lamb entrees. I am not a fan of salmon, but this was simply amazing, paying homage to our BC native cuisine. We had notified them ahead that we had two vegetarians and they went out of their way to accommodate us. everyone enjoyed their food and wine (we asked for the waiter to recommend a local BC red which was excellent). "John Bishop and his staff continue to set the bar for excellence in food, service, ambience, attention to detail, and making every guest feel special. Timing of service is always impeccable. It was a special evening for a reunion with an old friend, and afterward, she said she felt like a VIP. I had to let her know that she would feel the same on the next visit. It's that special. "Bishop's is the epitome of fine dining with attention to discrete detail: It includes locally sourced foods with emphasis on organic growing, prepared with a sophisticated understanding of texture, taste and presentation and served with understated professionalism. The wine list is extensive yet we kept with the local theme and loved their offering of Okanagan Merlot.

"I went to Bishop's with my wife to celebrate Valentine's day. The food and service were both very good. The ambiance was alright. It was definitely lit for the mood but because of the size of the restaurant and the closeness to the street it was not as quiet as I thought it would be. The service was great and the staff were very attentive."

"This was our first time at Bishop's and it was even better than expected. Everything was delectable - perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Service was attentive but not rushed. We appreciated the complimentary salmon amuse-bouches, and the owner himself checking in and seeing if things were OK. Indeed they were!"

"I travel to Vancouver quite a bit. I happened to be in Vancouver this past weekend for an extended long weekend and having been to Bishop's before I was happy to make a return visit with one of my friends who is a local Vancouver resident. The food and service at Bishop's is impeccable. It is evident that the entire operations pride themselves in providing a wonderfully put together menu that is prepared with such care and attention and would explain the loyal and repeat customers. It was a wonderful way to spend a quiet Sunday dinner. The apple galette with oatmeal ice cream was to die for! I am back in Vancouver in March and will definitely try to make a return visit to Bishop's."

"Expected more due to Bishop's high rating. We had been there last year and were suitably impressed. Admittedly the restaurant was fully booked but the service was very slow. It was at least 1/2 hr before they even took our order; bread came to the table 1/2 hr later. The fish special I ordered was imaginative but dry, probably previously frozen. I wouldn't order the dish again. There are at least a dozen restaurants I will choose before I go to Bishop's again."

Downstairs is on the cool side fall and winter.... Without a jacket you might want to be upstairs.

"We have dined at Bishop's on special occasions for more than 20 years and, invariably, we have been more than happy with the result.
This past Thursday, our 54th. Wedding Anniversary, we felt that the entire meal was, perhaps, the very best of all. Not only were the menu items tempting, they were also presented so attractively and were mouth-watering as well. In all, it was a perfect experience. Little wonder Bishop's has been a Vancouver restaurant gem since it opened its doors."

"I had been hearing good things about Bishop's for years, and was a bit concerned that I might find it over-priced, mediocre & resting on its reputation for past glories. I needn't have worried. It's by no means cheap, but the prices were entirely justified by the outstanding food & service. My companions (visitors from Whitehorse) were blown away; the table conversation kept looping back to the excellence of the food. The duck was by far the best I've ever eaten, & the desserts were so good we (almost!) forgot the earlier courses. Attentive but unobtrusive service made us feel more like guests than customers. Days later, I get a warm glow remembering this meal. Bravo, Bishop's!"

"This restaraunt has won many acolades, my praise would be lost amongst the rest. The booking thing was odd, but maybe because we did it through OpenTable, we could only get a table at 6.30pm though the restaraunt had plenty of free tables all evening. Everything was as it should have been. Very good.
Picky little issues? The service was a little lacking in precision but compsensated for by the charm with which it was executed. I had the finest piece of beef I have expereinced in a long time. Shame the accompanying food was cold, I suspect due to the fact it was served onto a cold plate?
Great place to be!!"
