River's End
The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset ... the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly “Artisanal Cocktails”.

"Duck confit sandwich: the duck was paired perfectly with the cranberry cherry chutney. My boyfriend hates cranberries and dislikes cherries actually really liked the sandwich.
West county burger: perfectly cooked/seasoned patty. Overall a fantastic burger but I preferred my duck, but I love duck in general.
Salmon crudo: light and refreshing, flavors melded together well. A great starterbto whet the appetite.
Spring English trifle: delicious. Not too sweet.
Service was great! Beautiful scenery, great food, unpretentious great service! I'd recommend anyone in town to try it at least once. :)"

"We wanted to go to the ocean for Fathers Day. The setting at River's End was perfect. The food is very good and the service was very good. I felt very well attended to from the moment the friendly hostess guided us to our table right by the big windows overlooking where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. We had a great time."

"Wonderful dinner, 2 nights in a row, that's how great the food was. The view is spectacular.. Salmon chowder, oysters, salmon sashimi, ahi, prawns, pasta, beet salad, and an incredible vegetarian dish as well. A little out of the way, but worth the journey!"

"Thursday nite was Gastropub Thursday. Fortunately had printed menu from their website. Glad we didn't go for their regular menu

"River's End was recommended to us during our recent stay at Bodega Bay. We were told to go at sunset, since it was so beautiful. And they were right. It was a cute little restaurant, on the water, that had a breathtaking view of the sun setting. The food was good, not the best I have tasted, but certainly good. We think it is worth the entire experience to visit River's End."

"This restaurant has a beautiful view, no matter where you sit. We had reservations at 8:00 p.m. and the sun was just beginning to set and it cast beautiful shadows on the water. The food was really great also. There was some type of problem with the waiter and another table near us and there was quite a lot of loud shouting but I tried not to let that bother our experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a very special occasion."

"This is our third visit, and again, River's End delivered. This is a great, fun restaurant, with superb food and a stunning location. We have recommended it to many ffriends and all concur: this is a worthy destination restaurant. (It is, in fact, 30 minutes from Guerneville, 50 from Healdsburg, 1 hour+ from Santa Rosa and 2 hrs from SF. But worth it.)"

"The restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who lives in the area as we were venturing to Northern Marinn for the weekend. They said it was the only really good restaurant in the area. It was a great find. Excellent service, perfect food in perfect rproprtions. The duck confit salad was a brilliant surprises and the fish meals were done just right with accompanying dishes. We would go back in a minute to try other dishes. And the prices were quite reasonable. The view speaks for itself."

"We have been dining at River's End for decades. It's spectacular view overlooking the Russian River's entry to the Pacific cannot be topped. However, there have been times when lackluster/snooty service and/or mediocrity in the kitchen have tarnished the experience. Happily this place is back on track! The service was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Every component of our meals were right on. And that view at sunset??! Worth every bit of the hefty charge."

"I must say when we pulled up I was thinking oh boy what have I done. I booked this place online based on the pictures I saw and their menu. Then we opened the door. Don't judge a book by its cover. The food was amazing and the views were great. This was a perfect spot to take mother on Mother's Day. It would also be a great spot for a romantic date. Will definitely come again."

"Situated at the mouth of the Russian River, on a bluff overlooking the incredible landscape ( seals basking in the Sun!), River's End's food is every bit as wonderful as the view. "We decided to check out the restaurant before we committed. The young hostess is great for her job! She seemed genuinely happy to see us, thanked us for coming in, and took care of us. We got a nice window view of the ocean and Russian River. We started with the oysters and they were great! It was my wife's birthday and they gave us tow complimentary glasses of champagne (that was a very nice surprise). Next, my wife decided on a the vegetarian dish and I had the Sea Bass. Both were great choices; we aren't vegetarians however her dish was REALLY GOOD! And their portions are good sized, fresh ingredients, brought very warm to the table. They pour a great glass of wine too; no whimpy pours here!"

"For the limited choices in this area, this is the best. A casual, welcoming spot. Although cramped and noisy, I understand why it's so popular. "Had been to Applewood Inn the night before which had good reviews, but River's End was much better. Only negative comment was that the door to the deck was right behind me & brought in gusts of cold breezes in from time to time. However, the food was delicious. We had the oysters which were so fresh and had a wonderful sauce. The beet salad we split and loved the fresh taste and crunch. Our sea bass was amazing. Our server was very attentive and sociable. The wine was a perfect pairing and the sunset was just as advertised. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back again."

"A fantastic find! Everything was first rate! The filet was done perfectly, accompanied by fresh greens and a sauce that was fabulous! The spinach pasta with fresh local mushrooms was equally amazing! Views at sunset are spectacular! Don't pass up the opportunity when in the area!"

"I can't express this enough that you HAVE to stop here if you are ever driving up the coast or you may want to just make a special trip because these reviews cannot do this place justice!! Our waitress Lichie (I'm sure thats not spelled right, sorry) was AMAZING! She made our experience especially worth remembering... she was so sweet & just adorable! The wait times were spot on & the food was excellent... I am not over exaggerating in the least. It was the BEST meal (with the freshest ingredients) that we have EVER had!! The romantic ambiance was perfect and the views were breathtaking. We will be back... We have to go back! Every future restaurant will now be compared to River's End! We give our entire experience a 20 out of 10! The BEST!"

"Very quiet spot for a romantic dinner. Your water glass will never be empty! At this time of year they have a prix fixe dungeness crab meal that looked delicious. The couple next to us ordered that and they said it was very good. I had the pork and apples and my husband ordered the sea bass--both of which were great."

"I wanted this to be really special as a celebration with good friends, it had always been fantastic in the past. I found the menu limited, there used to be so many wonderful options. Of course it was not the season for ceviche. We had some duck hors d'oevres and shared a beet salad and all chose the fish. The dishes were presented artistically and were tsty, and we ordered a couple of bottles of wine. I missed being served by the wonderful lady who normally waits on me, though she did come over and recognised me.She usually has wonderful suggestions, We were also sat in the atrium and I have always dined by the window in the main part of the restaurant. When everyone is sat sideways and can watch the hang gliders and all have a view."
