"Assaggi is fine dining experience, they offer an extensive menu of freshly prepared dishes and a rich wine list but you should be prepared for cramped tables, mono sibylic wait staff and a frankly worn out decor.

"I had heard such good things about Assaggi, so I was thrilled when my mom chose it for her mother's day dinner. Our reservation was for 7:30. We were not seated until 7:45. When we were seated, we were sitting right by the bar, the door and in the middle, aka the worlds worst table. The people at the bar kept bumping into our table, as did the waiters, there was no room to maneuver. I could go on about the table but now about the food. My mom and sister enjoyed the mussels, but my appetizer of the Arugula salad with Asparagus ($13) had a total of less than one full Asparagus on it. Bland and a ripoff. Our entrees were average pasta dishes, nothing unique. $200 later, not worth it. Our server was very friendly, but I will never return."

"Up until this experience Assaggi was a reliable choice. This visit will be out last. The prices are unjustifiably high. The menu is promising but what was provided was merely acceptable. Service was especially bad -- what you'd expect from a surly teenage waiter at a burger joint. The server we had last night was unpleasant to work with, unclear in his answers to questions about the menu, annoyed at the slightest request ( water refill) and in general made us feel that we were the cause of whatever he was so unhappy about. We get the message and will stay away."

"The arugula salad was lovely, and the roasted bass entree was fine, but in between those was the perfectly al dente, incredibly delicious strangozzi pasta with olive oil, garlic, Italian parsley, black truffle, and a dusting of parmesan added at table. However the service was extremely slow - the waiter took over 20 mins between bringing our drinks and then taking our food order, despite not being obviously busy. "This restaurant is way "overated" . Plates are too expensive for the value offered.
The "lobster special" although "reasonably priced" was poorly presented. Taste was okey but I expected a much better presentation (not the "lobster shell" - that in itself was 1 pd) basically "throw at spaghetti bathed with a very greasy tomato sauce".
The cushion of my booth seat was "fixed" with duct tape. I think this is unacceptable in a restaurant of this category.
Service at our table was divided among waiters and one offered a bread basket that never arrived."

"Mozzarella appetizer great. Entree (fish) a little disappointing. Service was very good except initially. We had a reservation at 8:30. Arrived on time. At about 9 hostess offered us an outdoor table and it was pretty cold out. too cold for us. She seemed annoyed. We finally got seated around 9:15 or so and from there service was excellent. Food overall good, nice evening."

"Tuesdays are "half price wine" nites. However, the devil is in the detail, and one is limited to "house brands" as they are called. The list exceeds a dozen in each category, so not too shabby, but they could do a better job of explaining the limits.
Bread is exceptional, pastas home made and well sauced. The tiramisu was not notable but the espressos are perfectly made with scuma. Prices of entrees on the daily menu are pricey, so reserved for "special occasions" but pastas are fairly priced and portions are adequate.
Would have given a higher rating for service, but waiter asked if we wanted more bread, then forgot to bring it."

The fish was overcooked by a minute or so....makes a big difference when you are paying $30+ for a fish entree. The salad was very good. The pasta offerings were limited if you can't eat shell fish."

we were seated on a nice table by the windows and had a memorable lunch food was amazing we tried the special salad with osetra caviar and it was very good nice and tasty the salad with the burrata and the caviar on top .
