"I had previously heard exception things about this restaurant and being a BYOB enthusiast had to check it out. Spent the evening with friends. All I can say is that the food was magnificent, staff extremely courteous and attentive and the owner was the best host that anyone could ever ask for. I highly recommend A la Maison and have definitely picked up a favorite place I will continue to frequent in the years to come."

"Love knowing A la Maison is once more open for Sunday Brunch. WONDERFUL PASTRIES: FLAKY AND OOOOOOOH SO FRESH. No matter what kind of patisserie one picks...you cannot escape the delicious flavor and freshness. The customers looked most happy eating their entrees from mussels to omelets to sandwiches. Wonderful friendly service that kept the decaf flowing...Thanks.

"I'm glad to have finally dined at La Maison. The entire experience was wonderful with excellent service and delicious menu. We had the mussels Maison, steak frites, and beef Bourgogne... All cooked exactly as ordered, the sauces and sides were paired well. Definitely order the bread pudding! We will definitely be back, hopefully next time with a group."

"Great food here and an almost-in-Paris feeling of a bistro. They are not giving away the food but it is absolutely terrific with a varying menu to keep it interesting if you go there a lot. This is a BYO which adds to its charm. Bring along a great champaign or bottle of wine and enjoy a leisurely dinner."

"Something has happened to this place. Came in for a birthday dinner and it was incredibly underwhelming. The service was much more unenthusiastic and awkward than in the past.
What changed? New manager? (staff was confused and awkward) New chef? (meats were tough and overcooked) New food supplier? (the boeuf bourgogne, in particular, was basically inedible gristle and the potatoes were overcooked soggy mush...and two of us ordered it, so that's half the entrees)
Whatever changed, please kindly change it back. You used to be the best place in the western burbs, bar none. Now you're just another expensive restaurant."

"We went for my birthday dinner because I love the garlic clams appetizer and salmon dinner. They are both simply outstanding. The clams are sautéed with herb tomatoes that are slow roasted in the oven overnight that have excellent flavor and not a bit dry. The salmon is always cooked perfectly and the lentils and spinach served with it are delicious. A healthy meal with wonderful flavor. The bread pudding for dessert is to die for. The night we went there was also a string band playing which made it an even more special evening. Loved it."

"I was happily surprised by this little gem in my neighborhood. I had never been before always heading to the city for little French bistros but was so happy to discover what a great vibe this place has. "We have been to A La Maison many times since it opened and this has been our best experience yet. Generally, the food is good with some things being outstanding. This trip I would have to say it it was all outstanding. From the crabcake appetizer to the entrees we enjoyed every morsel. The ambiance is always very quaint and our server was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable yet not intrusive in the least. We look forward to our next meal here."

"Went as a party of 4 on a Monday night. The restaurant was half full and therefore was quieter than most of the other reviews would indicate. The charcuterie plate was excellent but the rest of the food while good was not outstanding or remarkable in any way. In the end I was left feeling that this is a nice neighborhood french restaurant but that the food was not quite the same level as a frequent diner of gourmet french restaurants would expect. Still, it is a nice affordable alternative to a gourmet french restaurant"

"Is it my imagination or is the level of food becoming uneven at this Main Line bistro. Sometimes we're happy with our meals and sometimes not so much. Unfortunately during the last two visits, not so much. Topping off the last visit, the restaurant cancelled our Opentable reservation 40 minutes before our arrival. Of course when we arrived they had no reservation for us and didn't understand what had happened They were easily able to seat us as there were tables available. What's going at A La Maison??"

"This was our 2nd visit to A La Maison. We ordered the mussels which were disappointing. The broth which had white wine added but not cooked off had a harsh unblended flavor. This order comes with french fries which were cold and limp. The duck was very dry and over cooked. Additionally my cashmere coat was taken by another patron.All in all, it was a very expensive evening and not one I would like to repeat any time soon."

"Over the past 2 years, my husband and I and 2 other couples get together every other month for dinner and I always select a different open table restaurant based on cuisine and location. One couple is from Montgomery County and 2 are from southwest Chester County. A La Maison is the ONLY restaurant that we have revisited, not once, not twice but 3 times, If 6 entree plates completely clean after the meal is any indiction how good the food is, it is worth every mile we drive!"

"Went on Valentine's Day. While we didn't realize they were only doing a 5-course prix-fixe seating, it was fabulous. Tasty. Well executed. Given that they were very busy, all-in-all did a great job. Made for a festive Valentine's Day."

"The service at a la Maison is often somewhat unpredictable, but on Valentine's Day they suffered a major breakdown. They booked way too many reservations and were seriously backed up by our 8:30pm reservation time; we were not seated until 9:15pm and then had roughly 4 interactions with our harried waiter throughout the 4 course meal. This place is good and I try my best to support a good local option, but they need to examine their model a little bit and not overbook like that."

"Nice local place. Wouldn't say it serves overt "French" food though. Rich broth, gooey cheese in the French onion soup. Escargots, tender, but drowning in butter. Veal chop perfectly cooked. Steak frites used a filet instead of hanger steak, nice upgrade. Frites, nothing special. Desserts good, but not French quality. Server was nice and prompt. Water was always refilled without asking. Pricey, but I'd return for a special occasion."

"The service and food has been consistently great. The only downside to the restaurant is that the tables are very close together and the noise level is high. I always seem to get one of the tables by the swinging kitchen door"

"We love to check out BYOBs in the Philly area... this was our first visit here. While we had a nice evening with close friends, this isn't a place we plan to visit again soon. We are foodies and the food here was good but nothing special. But- the service is not to the same standard as the food. Our server was polite and friendly, but they were understaffed. Thus it took nearly 30 minutes for them to remove our dinner plates. We order several courses and two were brought out simultaneously. Overall a nice evening, but not fantastic."

"A la Maison Bistro is truly an Ardmore gem. The food is out of this world. I cannot recommend the beet salad enough. I had the veal chop special and it did not disappoint. Our server was sweet & delightful. She made excellent recommendations. The food is very well-priced for what you get: ample portions of well-seasoned & perfectly cooked food. If you are a foodie, there is plenty of pate, foie gras and fine cheese to appeal to your palate. The espresso maker is a work of art. You just don't see those very much anymore. We will definitely be back quite soon!"
