"Sight unseen, I took my wife and two adult children there for Mother's Day brunch. Read good reviews, but it was a bit of a risk because I am not familiar with the Davis restaurant scene.
Prix fixe menu for that day, and in fact they are not normally open on Sundays. We were there as they opened at 10:30 and we had the restaurant to ourselves for the first 30 minutes. Later on it was mildly crowded but always felt intimate sitting outdoors.
Food was perfect, our server outstanding (no hovering but always there when we needed her, casual yet professional, informed yet not arrogant), the ambiance was outstanding - truly a great restaurant.
Yes, it is spendy and no, this won't be a regular stop for that reason, but you must try it."

"I travel worldwide for my job and live 30 minutes from USA restaurant Mecca, Yountville however hands down this the best restaurant expereince I have had here in the USA.
A person next to me on a flight home last month lives in Davis and raved about this restaurant. The food is incredible, great atmosphere and the owner is there all the time. He is not into big business restaurants - you feel like you are in Tuscany again."

"I lived in Italy for several years and went to many different restaurants that were romantic, great service and great food. Osteria Fasulo as good as the best romantic restaurants I've ever been in. My Lady Friend and I decided to eat Appetizers as there were so many to enjoy. Each and everyone was well prepared, looked fabulous and a marvelous taste, Brady, our waiter, was excellent in all ways. We even had a visit from the owner, Leonardo, charming Italian man who has a passion for what he does and a pleasure to speak with.
He said he was going to open a wine bar and also have Sunday brunch. I hope he does, I know we'll be back"

"We love it here. The food is so fresh and delicious, and the outdoor dining is beautiful, relaxed, quiet, peaceful, and romantic (albeit the mosquitos are pesky!). We feel like we have left Davis and escaped on a romantic getaway whenever we eat here! :-) The service wasn't perfect this particular visit, but they made up for that with little extras "on the house." We tell all our friends about this restaurant and we plan on coming back time and again!"

"Excellent ambiance for an al fresco spring lunch in the courtyard. Service was very good. As for the meal itself, I ordered squid ink risotto with seafood; it was good but not great, especially considering the high price for a mid-day meal. The best (and most pleasantly memorable) part of the meal were the fruity desserts. We shared a fruit cup and a crepe, both delicious and exceedingly fresh. I love this restaurant, but wish the lunch menu was more affordable to make more frequent visits possible!"

"We visited Osteria Fasulo after trying several times to get a reservation. The only openings were at 5:30 and 8, but the restaurant was less than 50% full the entire time we were there.

The people were friendly and tried hard.

Appetizers: The Oysters had lots of sand in them, and the soup was a partially blended tomato cream mixture that tasted OK, but seemed unfinished. Main courses: Lasagna lacked complexity and was dry; the ossobuco course was tender and tasty. Dessert: Ugh. The gelato was ice cream that thawed and froze several times and was like ice. The fried pasta w/chocolate was tasteless and bland. We told them - zippo response.

"This restaurant was a big disappointment. We are not from the area and saw it touted as "romantic restaurant" and "great food". Well, if you think broken plastic planters, cactus so close to the table that it pricked my date, plants sitting in plastic dog bowls with dog bones on them, broken bicycles and a table that is so dented the bread plate wobbled, then I guess it is. There was one waitress that was working her hiny off for no fewer than 10 tables at lunch and as good as she was, she just couldn't handle that many and give great service. She told me my lasagna would "melt in my mouth" and she was right - but is lasagna really supposed to have so little texture that it has the consistency of baby food? Blech."

"This is a superb little Northern Italian restaurant tucked away in a most unexpected place-- a quiet neighborhood. The food is sublime, on a level with the best Italian restaurants in the area (comparable to the famous Biba in Sacramento). The dining room is a tiny place, seating no more than about 20, but it is very pleasant. The garden is lovely and is a perfect setting for a large party in spring or summer."

"The special Valentine's Day menu was modified for my vegan choices. Chef Atilio always makes my dishes delicious and beautiful. The wine I wanted wasn't fully described on the wine list, but Matteo showed me the bottle and it was exactly what I wanted. It was lovely to receive a rose as we left the restaurant. Wonderful evening!"

"Food was good. Servers were friendly, but their fair understanding of the menu and their poor pronunciation of common culinary terms left a lot to be desired. Wines by the glass were not on the menu and the price was unknown until the bill arrived--$12.00 per glass for a mediocre Sauvignon Blanc was outrageous. The restaurant is striving to be fine dining, especially by the prices, but the food and overall experience are not to that high a level."
