"I've been told about Michaels for years and finally got there. The wine list is extensive, the steak was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. My husband had the veal chop which was large and very flavorful. Another couple was enjoying their dessert of creme brûlée near us and seemed to be enjoying every bite, so we indulged in one between us and it was the best creme brûlée I have had in the Keys. The service was attentive but not overly done, and friendly. Overall the best restaurant I have been to in Key West."

"We were told by several locals that the best restaurant in Key West was Michael's. We saved it for our last night in Key West, and it was the best dinner on our trip. It was not haute cuisine, but they excelled with good, fresh ingredients using relatively simple preparations. But the flavors had sizzle - especially the steak with blue cheese and the veal chop. It was much better than some of the more highly touted spots in Key West. We would/will return."

"We are local and frequent several restaurants. Michael's was recommended so we decided to try it out for a special occasion. Ambiance reflected fine dining but nothing spectacular. The server and table attendants were perfect. The food was great but one of the main reasons we went there was for the steak. I ordered med well and it came back med to med rare. We did call it to our servers attention and she offered to return it. But by that time i had already eaten 1/2 of it and did not want to wait. The only reason I was able to eat it was because it was very tender. Just a small error to keep me from rating the food perfect. The rest of our meal was very goof. Also felt we have had food just as good at lower prices in Key West."

"The main course was mediocre at best. It was cowboy steak and it was plain and so to say "featureless" - nothing interesting or notable about it. It shouldn't be so for the most expensive steak on the menu. I asked for not too cold water and waiter brought me a bottle of the exact temperature I needed, but right after that he brought me ice cold juice. More attention to the details is needed."

"We loved Michaels. My friends got the steak and they agree it was the best steak ever. I got the seafood crepe ad it was delicious. The service was excellent. Our waiter talked us into dessert and we were so glad he did. Chocolate/ raspberry lava cake with vanilla ice creme. I still dream about it."

"Michaels is a great neighborhood find in KW-Service is outstanding and quick. Martini's served with a sidecar. We started with the Been Carpaccio-prime beef thin and flavorful. I had a scallops dish and my partner had the snapper meuniere. Both dishes cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I can't stress enough how wonderful and service was. For dessert-don't miss the chocolate volcano-one of the best desserts on the island if you like chocolate-make sure you order it about mid-way through your entree (your server will ask)-it takes about 15 minutes to prepare but is well worth it."

"We live right around the corner from Michael's & would love if we could make this restaurant "our local". However, we were kept waiting for almost 1/2 an hour despite having a reservation & our fish entrees were mediocre at best. That said, the starter & dessert were outstanding. This is an expensive restaurant & I expect all courses especially the main course, to be good. The portion of fish was small, it was overcooked & we are doubtful that it was indeed hogfish. There are too many other good restaurants in Key West to bother with this. We will just walk a couple of blocks further in future."

"We enjoyed our dinner here very much and did not have any problems with service as mentioned by previous reviewers. In fact, service was top notch: present but unobtrusive. Our server did forget a glass of wine for our party but he apologized promptly and comped us a dessert. The comp was unnecessary as we could see they were very busy and often, all one wants when something is forgotten is just an apology. It was very professional of them to do that, however, and we will definitely be back -premier restaurant in Key West!"

"whenever we are in key west we eat at michaels...we live in florida, so we are in key west frequently, and have eaten there since they opened...
always they have been warm and welcoming, reservations are always on time...drinks are great, and the food is always consistently wonderful...
I made the reservation a few weeks before coming down because it was my husbands birthday...our waiter, robert, had worked there forever as well, greeted us with a big hello, nice to see you back at michaels, and ...happy birthday Robert!
he gave us a choice of two wonderful tables...everything was wonderful...we will be back! and thankfully they DIDN'T all come around and sing happy birthday..."

"Michaels is a very nice restaurant. However, our waitress was one of the worst we have ever had (and we eat out frequently). She did the absolute bare minimum to take our order. She was cold, unfriendly, and unhelpful. I did complain to the manager and noted that I would be leaving the traditional 20% tip, mainly because I did not want my complaint to be seen as an excuse by a cheapskate not to leave a proper tip (I know, the logic may be flawed, but she got her tip out of me despite her behavior). Her attitude put a real damper on the night -- I would not return to Michaels nor would I recommend it."

This is a must visit every time. This was our first time using OpenTable, very convenient and no issues.

"Great food. Great service. Michael even came out to our table to see how the food was and to be sure our experience was good. Our experience was exceptionally great! I highly recommend this place! My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and brought our children with us (ages 24, 15 and 12). We had never been to Key West before and didn't know which dinning place to choose. We were very pleased with Michael's and will be sure to come back the next time we are in Key West. The entrees were excellent and a good portion. The wine was wonderful! The dessert was FABULOUS!!! I ordered the key lime pie and it was the best key lime pie I have ever had!!! Make sure you order it if you dine here. My family and I had a great evening!"

"I had fish and although it was very very good, not enough of it. Also made a mistake of ordering a heavier red wine and the wine totally masked the flavor of the fish. My friend had steak and thought it was OK, not great. Not as enjoyable this time as in the past at this restaurant."

"We took our friends to Key West for a few days and wanted to end with a memorable meal. Having been to Michaels two years ago we hoped that the restaurant would be as good as we remembered since our friends truly enjoy good food. Michaels completely met our expectations. We ordered the grouper and the red snapper. The grouper was beautifully prepared, cooked to perfection with a very nice sauce that was just enough to compliment the fish. My wife, who is very finicky about fish, said that the snapper was so good it could turn her into a fish lover. A good bottle of wine and the Key Lime Pie for dessert completed a very enjoyable evening of dining. We will return to Michaels when we next visit Key West and hope that the quality remains."

"Michael's was slightly off the beaten path, but still an easy walk from most parts of Key West. At first, I was worried when we were seated in a room somewhat separated from most of the other tables, but it was relaxed and comfortable, and we had lots of space. The food was excellent, especially the bread, and the steaks. The yellowtail was very good but a little soggy! The desserts were all fantastic, especially the key lime pie, and our waiter was very personable, although a bit chatty at times. The wine selection was also excellent. I would highly recommend Michael's to anyone, and would definitely eat there again if I get back to Key West."

"After reading in a Florida travel magazine that Michael's was rated By Zagats in 2011 as a "high-end culinary gem...”...the the third best restaurant in FL, and the best in the Keys, I was really excited to experience a high-end culinary treat. The reality however... things have obviously changed since 2011 when that reveiw was written. My small piece of a fishy-tasting mahi mahi was accompanied by plain-tasting rice and drab julienne-style vegetables. The fish was barely palatable. The small amounts of seafood in my dates Seafood Alfredo was covered by too much parmesean cream sauce...as if trying to hide the minimal seafood within the dish. All-in-all...not worth the $$$$. Too bad I hadn't visited in 2011."

"What a find - this neighborhood restaurant is outstanding. Our service was great, and both of our dinners were wonderful. Initially we were going to eat outside, but it was bit chilly. They were very accomodating and moved us inside. This is not touristy at all ... but you will need a reservation. OUTSTANDING in every sense of the word."
