Coldwater Cafe & Catering
This restaurant housed in a former bank building in the heart of downtown Tipp City offers quality dining in a small-town setting. The decor is warm and welcoming and is a delight for the senses. The fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere while the full bar allows patrons a relaxing stop while awaiting a fabulous meal. The inviting atmosphere encourages relaxed conversation. You may be surprised to find that a restaurant in such a small town has some rather sophisticated choices on the menu alongside your more normal fare, with entrees such as ostrich being offered. If you are looking for a decadent dessert, look no further than the butter-drenched English Tea Cake! An easy drive from all points in the Dayton area, words cannot do it justice. A visit is a must and will be the first of many.

"Located in a former bank in Tipp City, this is a great place for some unexpected fine dining. The seabass main was superbly prepared and came with salad, starch and veggies. They have an extensive wine list that is well priced. Avoid the vault seating if you can. Feels cold and sterile."

"We did the " Dinner in the Kitchen" What a marvelous experience. Five courses with wine pairings. The food was top notch and the service exemplary. The staff was knowledgeable and we were able to have some time with Nick, the owner and chef. A superb evening out for a special occasion I shall look forward to repeating."

"I was wondering if the trip from Centerville to Tipp City would be worth the miles and time. It was and then some. I think this is one of the best restaurants in the Dayton area. Everything was top notch beginning with my cocktail through the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Our table enjoyed the sea bass, lobster crab cakes, ostrich and scallops. Even the cucumber dill house dressing was a great choice. I don't think you can go wrong at Coldwater Cafe."

"Classy restaurant with great food and service in a handsome historic building in the town named after the shortest-lived president in American history, William Henry Harrison, hero of "Tippecanoe." A piano and bass duo performs some of the most elegant live jazz I've heard in a long time. Lovers of Bill Evans and other jazz piano greats should hurry right over."

"Our first time, found with O.T. We had very good service, and our table Wes visited twice by the chef. We were disappointed to find the catch of the day was gone before our 6:45 reservation, but made other choices which were terrific. Good choice of wines by the glass. Desserts were delicious. "For the first time since I have been going to this restaurant I was very unhappy. I requested a booth for a special occasion when I made the reservation. They seated us at to a table in the middle of the room instead of a booth. We were 15 minutes late and I had called to advise Coldwater of our delay. My guest is a principal of a grade school and that day they had a bomb scare."

"Excellent experience overall. LOVED the convenience of being able to reserve on line, then change later if necessary (which was the case this time). We were able to get a table per our preference, although I didn't realisticaly think it will happen, since tables in that section are hard to get, and it was on relatively short notice. "Was a little disappointed at first as in the reservations had specifically asked for table ext to fireplace and at first was seated in a table not within main restaurant - I asked to be moved and was met with resistance - as they were heavily booked - I explained I knew that and had made my reservations weeks earlier and had requested table bear fireplace ( thus has worked before ) thankfully they found a table in dining room and we had a lovely time"

"I love the Coldwater Cafe. We live about an hour away so it is a special treat for us when we go. The only negative I had turned into a positive. We had reservations for 2 and were sat fairly quickly, however we got sat in the back of the main dining area right beside the servers station and just off of the door to the kitchen. We felt like we were sitting in the kitchen with all of the hustle and bustle. Not at all relaxing or condusive to a conversational dinner with my husband for Valentines. But after I brought this to the attention of our server and conveyed to her that we were willing to wait a bit to a nicer area opened up, she moved us to a different location by the fireplace, which ws perfect."

"Everything was delicious as always. The only negative was that we were in the "vault" and it was freezing cold in this area. I had to take my scarf and use as a wrap, my husband worn his coat throughout dinner."
