"I live in Newport Beach and only get to our home in Palm Desert when my husband drags me there (I love the water he loves to play golf) but this was a special weekend I was going to have lunch with a friend of 40 years that I hadn't seen in 15 years along with her mother and sister. I was bringing my mother and my grown son and his fiance. Not knowing where to have this reunion I relied on OpenTable and websites. I wanted someplace where we could talk and have a leisurely lunch and good food. Cuistot was the PERFECT place the atmosphere was lovely, the wait staff very attentive and food superb! The Chef/Owner stopped by twice to make sure we were pleased. We stayed 3½ hours! It is expensive but worth every dollar! You won't be disappointed!"

"THIS IS ONE RESTAURANTS IN THE DESERT. WE HAVE BEEN THERE MANY TIMES FOR LUNCH, DINNER, AND HAPPY HOUR. I LIKED THIS RESTAURANT SO MUCH I INVITED MY FAMILY FOR MOTHERS DAY. I WAS TOTALLY EMBARRASSED! THE FOOD-FOUR MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY HAD AN EGG DISH. THE POACHED EGGS WERE OVER DONE. MY COUSIN HAD HALF AN EGG SHELL ON HER PLATE. THE WHITE CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE WAS DIVINE. THE SERVICE-IN ONE WORD-HORRIBLE. MY HUSBAND ASKED THE MAITRE'D IF THEY ONLY HIRED THE SERVERS FOR THE DAY. SHE TOLD HIM THEY WERE REGULAR STAFF. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO GET A CUP OF COFFEE. AND IT GOES ON. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED THAT WE WILL NOT GO BACK."

"We had as personalized-as-service-can-be service. Not only a knowledgeable waiter, but a lot of attention from the sommelier, as well as the chef-owner. Needless to say, we had a superb experience food, wine , and comfort wise. Fantastic preparation of the meal, and a superbly crafted wine list, with equally superb pricing. Believe me they certainly have Domaine Romanee Conti on the list, but also a lot of very well selected more modestly prices offerings. Even at that, in virtually every case, they had the "right" vintage rather than the "wrong" vintage in their selections. Bravo."

"We have dined at Cuistot a number of times over the years and have always found the food and service to be consistent. We recently dined at the restaurant when they were serving two large groups. When we walked in, we were a bit worried we would be "forgotten" by the servers, but it was obvious they tried to keep track of us and we had no issues. Food was great, I always try to go with the specials for that evening. Try to dine on the patio if available and the weather is nice - great ambience."

"We attended the Williamette Valley wine dinner. The food was not nearly up to the standard we have come to expect from Cuistot. The veal was so under-cooked and not tender at all. Some veggies were overlooked while others were undercooked. The wine was good, but did not seem to pair very well with each course."

"My friend and I had a lovely lunch at Cuistot. I had the scallop salad which was divine and she had a shrimp salad which she said was yummy as well. Our server was very attentive and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is just lovely. The only thing I didn't like was that apparently they offer fashion shows during lunch (which we were not aware of) and the model was going around from table to table before the show to talk about the store where she models and what they offer. I found that intrusive - I was there to enjoy a nice lunch with a friend who was moving away, not to watch a fashion show, and it put a damper on an otherwise wonderful experience."

"We were seated in the Brasserie 25 area, next to the doors the waiters use to serve those seated outdoors (noisy). After 20 minutes we walked out because no one had come by to greet us, give us a wine list, or take our order. (We did receive bread after about 10 minutes.) It was not crowded (Tuesday night). A waiter was serving a table of four nearby but he did not approach us. Also, a guest in the regular restaurant approached a manager type to get drinks for his table. Horrible. I cannot rate the food because I never had any."

"We were warmly greeted and shown to our booth. Our server was extremely helpful and very attentive.

"This arguably is the finest restaurant in the Coachella Valley. You can tick off all the pluses but the bottom line is that you can't find any better cuisine, wine selection and service. We loved the Pouilly-Fume, Loire Valley, the Bouillabaisse and the Young Duck Oven Roasted with Spices.

"This is a great fine dining spot...just do not go on a major holiday like Valentine's Day or Mother's Day. They do best when they are not crowded. Floor and reservation management has been an issue for this place for years. having said that, the food is very good and the wait staff is as well. The wine list (and the wine director) are terrific. There are lots of reasonably priced quality wines on the list.

"This unique creation in the desert has the potential to be outstanding, if only the Chef would return to his French roots. Management needs to tighten service so diners are not left wondering if they have been forgotten. The menu has flashes of France, but for the most part is really somewhat more continental than true French cuisine. While it may be easier to prepare dishes for the American palate that are "California cuisine" with a French twist, there are so many people who much prefer the subtle and complex true French cuisine."

"Fantastic surprise. Little hard to find but well woth the hunt. Magnificent setting, delightful menu and Ivan, our server, was knolwdgable and friendly. went for lunch...try the cheese souffle for sure. We are going back for dinner later this week. A definite must."

"After the restaurant had confirmed our reservation by phone and email, when we arrivedthey couldn't find it. After offering us a table outside ( it was too cold) and a cramped one in a corner, about 15 minutes later they found a table for us the smallquiet wine room. The food was not as outstanding as some reviews. Mushroom soup was salty, sides very small. Lobster ravioli was not good . Paparadelle appy was very good.Won't be rushing back."

"Lovely French restaurant has large spacious rooms. Reservations were tough to come by - even though the restaurant wasn't full. The wine steward was excellent and helped us make special choices. Great selection of French and American wines ...
They have a prix fixe menu that is a terrific value ... soup and salad were both excellent; the mixed hors doeuvres were disappointing. Main courses varied. The nut crusted fish was very good; steak frites was predictable. The dessert was uninteresting.
Other diners ate off the main menu and enjoyed the Dover Sole."

"The lousiest meal we had during our vacation in Palm Desert. Service was abysmal. The restaurant is way understaffed. It took 20 minutes after we were seated to be given a menu. then it took another 1/2 hour for the waiter to come back and take our order. Then it took almost an hour for our main course to arrive. What a disappointment. I ordered the short ribs. The presentation would have been better at a diner. Greasy ribs thrown onto a bed of mashed potatoes. No vegetables, not even a garnish. The ribs were practically tasteless. We were not alone, the guests at the table next to us sent back their food. When we were leaving the restaurant, we heard others complaining too. Never again."

"Cuistot is one of our favourite restaurants in Palm Desert.We had made a special request and even though they were busy they made an effort to fulfill our request which was very much appreciated.The food is outstanding.Be sure to try their signature mushroom soup served uppiping hot in copper pots.Service is very friendly,great wine selection and extensive menu...something for everyone."

"We wanted to have the happy hour menu but it was a Half hour before the happy hour ended So they put us in the bistro section so that we couldn't Participate In happy hour The food at the bistro section was okay. The short ribs were very bland they lacked seasoning other than salt the mashed potatoes where grainy and almost runny--you could have mistaken them for polenta. The presentation of the short ribs was not very appealing either.
The cassoulet was a huge disappointment there was no crispy crust on the top of it with breadcrumbs, the homemade sausage was very dry the and overseasoned and the beans were also over seasoned and it was difficult to tell the lamb from the duck all in all really disappointing preparation. "I ORDERED A PERFECT BRANDY MANHATTEN(1/2 SHOT DRY VERMOUTH, 1/2 SHOT SWEET AND 3 SHOTS OF BRANDY). WHAT HE BROUGHT LOOKED TOO DARK AND WAS ON THE SWEET SIDE. I MENTIONED IT TOO HIM IN PASSING AND HE IMMEDIATELY GRABBED THE GLASS AND SAID, "I'LL GET YOU ANOTHER" OVER MY PROTESTS. HE BRINGS IT BACK SAYING "I WATCHED HIM MAKE IT, TASTE THIS". TO ME IT LOOKED AND TASTED THE SAME! HE GRABBED IT AGAIN AND SAID I'LL BE RIGHT BACK. HE CAME RIGHT BACK....WITH THE 3 BOTTLES AND POURED THE DRING, PER RECIPE, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME....AND IT WAS GREAT! I GUESS THIS TOP-NOTCH RESTAURANT USES A BETTER VERMOUTH, NOT MY CHEEP STUFF.
