"The Kona Grill was recommended to us by a friend. My son was graduating from Purdue and on the way back to Bloomington we wanted to have a very nice meal. Made reservations online the day before, arrived early and was seated early. To my surprise, they even had us sitting at a round table for 5-my favorite way to eat as a family. My son likes sushi and this was the reason we chose the Kona. The sushi was great, and as not everyone wanted sushi for their main course, the restaurant had something for everyone. Highly recommend this place. I will be back."

"We enjoyed our Mother's Day meal so much at Kona Grill in Carmel. The combination of a thoughtful waitress, wonderful food and pleasant surroundings made our day complete. My husband usually likes to go to steak places but he was surprised and happy to find the Kona Filet was delicious! And I loved the Kona Chopped salad. The other people with us enjoyed what they had as well. When it came to dessert, the portions were enormous so we took some home and enjoyed finishing that off later."

"I felt that everyone found something they liked and each was treated to an asian-twist on American-Eclectic. The server was attentive and knowledgeable and had a good demeanor. Food was served on-time and as ordered. I enjoyed having the meatloaf and as you would expect from Kona Grill, it wasn't JUST meatloaf. The sauce they used as "gravy" was something unique and it made ordinary meatloaf into a must-try dish you won't likely find anywhere else. Same was true for nearly everyone's food at the table. We also ordered sushi-rolls as appetizers, though many order them as their entree. They were excellent and served on-time. All in all, we had a great time. Only minor note is that the music may have been a bit too loud for the dining area."

"Made a reservation on OpenTable for a party of 6 the morning of mother's day and had an outstanding meal. Service was fantastic and the waitress really knew her menu and made some great recommendations. My children ate sushi for the first time and actually enjoyed it. I would go back to Kona when I am in the Indianapolis / Carmel Indiana area."

"This was our first time here. I took my mother and daughter for a Mother's Day celebration. There was a wide variety of food choices. A filet for my meat and potatoes eating mother and my sushi eating daughter. I had the sea bass which was melt in your mouth delicious. The restaurant was dark with rather loud music. It could be turned down a notch or two for those patrons with hearing problems. Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back again."

"We enjoyed our meal. Spicy shrimp and the calamari appetizers were very good! Love their turkey burgers! Only complaint is it's so dark inside - too dark. Also, when making the reservation via Open Table, I noted we were celebrating a birthday, but the server was never told. I had to pull her aside and she quickly apologized and brought a dessert for my friend."

"Hadn't been back in over a year, and I thought the food was bland and unimpressive this time. The Caesar salad was tasteless, the tea was watered down, and a pasta dish marked as having a "lemon cream" sauce was so spicy, it had to be remade. Not sure I will return anytime soon."

"I love the Las Vegas Roll! Always been my favorite roll there. The salmon sashimi was excellent, as well as one of my other favorites - the Sweet & Spicy Shrimp! Keep up the great work! The bartender Nicole has always been great to me too and her service and attitude are great. Atmosphere is excellent as always! Keep up the good work!"

"i have always liked Kona - for their great sushi and nice wine list and they use real wine glasses - it seems like many sushi places have wine as an after thought in small glasses. Menu food is good, service is ussually good, nothing to special here but just a good place to go, However i wouldlnt call this a romantic place. I also like their great Happy Hour drink and food spacials and they have a great indoor patio/bar area to use the half proce specials."

"We've visited Kona Grill four times now and have consistently enjoyed the experience each time. The food is outstanding and the environment is energizing whether you're sitting in the dining room, at a table in the bar, or at the bar. The service is friendly and top notch. The Managers are visible, welcoming the guests and checking to make sure their experience has been a good one. The only misstep we've experienced was on the last visit where there was an entree on our bill that was not ours. We definitely recommend the Kona Grill."

"I haven't had sushi very much, but I had been craving it for a couple weeks. So when 'date night' came around I wanted to go to Kona. Really good stuff. The sushi (I got the checkerboard) was excellent and so was desert (butter cake). Good food, though if I had a complaint it is that I wish for a better draught beer selection with more craft, international, and micro brews. But yeah really good food, service, and the environment was pretty good."

"The restaurant is not new to my husband and I, but the kids don't often come with us. It was a special occasion for our daughter's violin performance. We were there fairly late and the waitress was very attentive to the kids (ages 13 and 11)--bringing their food out early, refilling their sodas, etc. It was a pleasant evening for all of us!"

"Always a fun restaurant. They've remodeled and added a bigger waiting area inside and more outside seating (which was irrelevant on this winter night but will be nice soon). Their food is always good, the atmosphere is nice, though very noisy on a Saturday night, and the service is always good."

"I have been here a few times and I have to sat that Kona Grill should quit pretending that they take reservations. What they use the reservation for is call ahead and put your name on a waiting list. Unacceptable. Perhaps Open Table should monitor this? After we had waited 25 minutes after our reservation, with several other waiting groups being seated ahead of us, we were finally shown to our table. The hostess bought us off with free appetizers that we really didn't want. The food was generally good, but the loudness of the place coupled with the questionable reservation system made it a less than optimal experience."

"Seated promptly (and there was a huge wait for anyone without a reservation since it was Vday weekend). Our server was HORRIBLE though. We have already called and written to complain to Kona but have received no response from them even acknowledging that they addressed it with their staff. The hostess told us more about what they had that evening than the server...she was unfriendly, took forever to take our order (just kept walk past us), never brought refills unless we stopped her, and never checked on our food until we stopped her to tell her we were finished and needed our check (after waiting forever). neighboring tables even asked for items from us that she didn't bring them! sad b/c we are big tippers...usually."

"Even though we had a reservation, we waited 40 minutes. It turned out OK, since we waited in the bar, but if we had the kids with us that wouldn't have worked. What's the point of a reservation if you have to wait that long?"

"I am a big fan of Kona Grill. I have not had any problems in the other locations but at Carmel the service was terrible. I had made our dinner reservations 3 weeks prior and still when we got there we had to wait 35 min. The service was very slow so when we got out food we had to hurry it up and eat it since we had another reservation which we were late too. Why made dinner reservations when either way you still have to wait for another 35 min. That upset me. I do not believe I will be going back to this location again."

"Music in dinning room was too loud, hard to hold a conversation. Service was very slow. A little expensive for what you get. Our bill for 4 was over $90 with no appetizer, no alcohol and only 1 dessert."

"I have dined at kona several times in the past. This last visit was probably the last time that I will go there. We have a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, and another 45 min to eat. The service was poor and we were never asked if we need anything but our bill. I was very disappointed and will not be returning."

"Our 7 p.m. reservation was not seated until 7:30. For this couple with young kids in search of a quiet dinner, we were disappointed to be seated next to a family with 4 kids under the age of 6 !?!?!? Once the family and their youngest "shreaker" left we were able to enjoy the good food and service which will keep us coming back to this shopping adjacent food spot."
