Sibling to the popular Meson Sabika in suburban Naperville, Tapas Valencia has moved to Chicago’s South Loop Area. It has brought along its #1 Spanish Restaurant ranking in the 2008/2009 Zagat survey. Guests are greeted by a high energy atmosphere with walls adorned in multi-colored mosaic artwork reminiscent of the art of the great Spanish artists Joan Miro and Antoni Gaudí. "We enjoyed our get together. We had very different diners and we found something for each of them. We were really impressed with the fish the server recommended as it was very fresh and light. We also loved the goat cheese and especially the desserts! The almond cake with the caramel was divine. Our server was very accommodating and helpful, I would definitely recommend this place, it reminded me of my study abroad days in Spain! (Excellent wine list as well, although we didn't try any this time.)"

"From the service to the food, everything was excellent! I had sunday dinner with my mom and aunt, both of which have never eaten here (i have plenty of times). We ordered 5 tapas and a seafood paella, and like i said before.. EVERYTHING was excellent. I also had the spice and ice martini which was also fantastic. Jose and his staff always make me feel like family... highly recommend tapas valencia for everyone!"

"We always come here for a great meal. We went for Mother's Day this time and, wow, what a spread. Custom made omelets, desserts, and a buffet of wonderful food. Dried fruits (so good!!), fruit, vegetables, and a lot of the famous tapas including mushrooms and pasta. So great."

"Martinis and wine were good. food was serviceable, well cooked, but man, could have used some salt! Also we wondered why there were really no herbs or seasonings on anything, at least on what we ordered. The restaurant is well laid out and there's lots of room between tables, which is very considerate, vs. the way a lot of places cram you together. We had the four items on daily special which included sautéed mushrooms in sherry, duck breast, and a grilled fish. The duck breast especially was perfectly cooked. The mushrooms could have used some parsley or tarragon or something. If you go definitely ask for a salt shaker! Still we're happy to see a decent restaurant in this space again, which previously held at least one place we liked."

"This was my second time at Tapas Valencia, and I will happily go back again. All the service was friendly and prompt and the food, of course, was delicious (as was the sangria). I like that there is a large variety of cold and hot tapas to choose from. Some restaurants only specialize in a few, but Tapas Valencia has a lot of choices and made each dish we ordered delicious. This is a great place to go with a small group of people or on a date, and I'm looking forward to my next visit!"

"I decided to try this restaurant on a whim, because I love Tapas, but very few restaurants seem to get it right. Tapas Valencia definitely knows how to deliver scrumptious, delectable plates of heaven! Myself and three other friends opted for the prix fix menu, which was a phenomenal assortment of everything, not to mention affordable for the quantity of food that you're receiveing. I would highly recommend this; especially the bacon wrapped dates which seem to melt in your mouth. It doesn't get much better than that."

"The food here is always good. This is a wonderful place for a late night meal before partying or for a small group dinner. Went with my parents to celebrate my birthday and we ordered enough to be able to share and everyone was able to eat their fill. The drinks are really good. One of my favorite places to go. Unfortunately, we ordered some bread and butter but it was accidently taken to the wrong table. When we asked our waitress how long it would be for the bread, she informed us of the accident and immediately we were given some bread. Other than that very minor situation, everything there is always perfect."

"We have had a great experience in the past at Tapas Valencia prompting us to return for my birthday dinner, but the experience was a bit of a disappointment. We ordered 5 tapas, and though traditionally these are brought out in a tapered manner, they were all brought at the same time. To avoid having them get cold we asked if some could be brought back later. This accommodation was met and they took away the steak and seafood items. When they were brought back later, the steak was very overcooked, as I presume it was placed under a heating lamp. We had previously ordered this and it was tender and medium rare in preparation. We were told that it was supposed to be well done and not given a new steak. This was quite a disappointment."

"They had a good selection of dishes and the food was flavorful and prepared well. The restaurant is clean and the decor is vibrant and upbeat. The service was good and the noise level is what you would expect from a packed restaurant. I had two issues with the restaurant: 1. When we got there, on time for our reservation, they sat us at a table with flimsy, lawn chairs. All the other chairs at all the other tables were sturdy, wooden, comfortable chairs. I complained and was told that as soon as someone left that they would replace our chairs. 2. The food that was supposed to be hot on the buffet was just warm. Aside from those issues, we enjoyed the brunch. I would go back for a regular brunch, but not on a holiday."

"The food was excellent. The serrano ham and manchego cheese app was very good. I also enjoyed my salmon and the patas bravas. The Tudela salad was very good. I especially enjoyed the dressing. The one issue was service. The waiter was not very attentive and really messed up the timing of our food. I was with a friend to celebrate her birthday and she ordered a paella, which is supposed to take 30 minutes to prepare. We ordered some appetizers and a salad to nosh on until her paella came. The problem is the paella came before the apps and the salad. So my friend had to let her paella get cold while she ate her salad. She did not enjoy the apps because of the mixup."

"Great food, outstanding cocktails, I had the cucumber martini and the kickass margarita. Made whit red bell pepper, fresh lime juice & cilantro. Very refreshing. Can't wait to caming back to this wonderful tapas join. Best tapas in Chicago!!!"

"After a few comments, we gave opentable a shot and made our reservation. Being new to the place and having some questions, Our waiter, Ozzie, was extremely helpful and gave us some excellent recommendations (both food and drinks, and paired them perfectly throughout!)The manager, Jose, took the time to come and check up on us a couple of times and was extremely courteous and gave us some good laughs. Overall, the experience was a breath of fresh air, which was desperately needed, as we have only been in Chicago for a few months and have had some. . .not-so-pleasant experiences at other locales. Tapas Valencia is definitely on our top 3 and we will definitely be coming back soon."

"This was a first time visit to Tapas Valencia, the service and staff were excellent.Our party of three tried the tapas 4 course special.This gave us a sample of quite a few of the menu offerings. Everything was delicious!! I especially enjoyed the scallops and couscous. FYI try the Fire and Ice martini!!! Its made with cucumber vodka with a hint of jalapeno. Wow!!!!"

"I remember TV being really good. My how times have changed. It's a Spanish restaurant so I expected to be greeted by flamenco music or something more culturally in line with the theme but instead club and hip hop were playing. The manager needs to be fired to allowing this to happen. It's about creating ambiance! We ordered 7 or 8 dishes, Instead of cocktails we ordered iced tea and hot tea. Neither of which got refilled until we actually ran down the waitress to ask for refills every time we went try. Next our salads came followed by dates, omelette, potatoes. Then we waited 30 minutes before our waitress came back and asked her were the rest if the food was. She said she'd check on it. 10, 20 minutes later still nothing. DON'T EAT HERE."

"We had such an amazing experience at Tapas Valencia. The staff was very friendly from the wonderful hostess to the bussers. Food was so tasty we had to ask for multiples of dishes. Our server was very informative about questions we had about the food and was timely. I highly recommend this place for any occassion."

"I really liked Tapas Valencia. I was surprised by how good the food was as I was comparing it to my favorite tapas place on the north side of the city--but Tapas Valencia held up well. The atmosphere is very open, almost like an art gallery. Everyone is bustling and moving. I wish it were more cozy and intimate, but it's not bad. I was the least impressed with the sangria. Overall, the food was great and I will be back there soon."

"Lovely presented food - we had about 9 different dishes and enjoyed them all. The squid and the bacon covered dates were amazing.
Was fairly quiet night - cold and miserably snowy so we only tried warm tapas."

"Tapas Valencia has by far the best tapas in the Chicago area. I would highly recommend the Talapia, Queso de Cabra, marinated olives, and the stuffed mushrooms. The location is perhaps the only downside and puts it a little out of the way and more of a destination in itself...which is perhaps why its never too busy. This might be a good thing if you don't want to deal with the crowds at some other tapas places. I really enjoy both the food and service every time."

"Once we were waited on it was very good. It took 20 minutes for someone to actually come over and take our drink order. I had to flag someone down. We were seated immediately. The food was very good, served hot and very flavorful. We went relatively early for dinner &pm so they were not too busy at that time so not sure why the wait for drink order."

"Tapas Valencia was an amazing find for me: After the International Dog Show at McCormick Place, I booked a reservation for four after reading the site and viewing the menu online. We had guests from Minneapolis, and I wanted to find a place that was hip, fun, energetic, had great food, and wasn't overly pricey. Every dish we ordered was exquisitely designed with taste to match, and each teemed with a sauce that seemed to melt the food. Our waiter knew every nuance and spice of each dish – and how each was cooked. An absolute favorite was the bacon-wrapped dates. Woah! The combination of sugary dates covered with strongly smoked, thick bacon was alone enough to make you eat way beyond the point you should stop – and that's a wonderful thing."
