The Barrel Room, housed within our space, not part of concert seating, is a tasting room and 30-seat café that features 11 wines by the tap made on our premises by our wine maker David Lecomte. The innovative tap system permits us to pour wines straight from the barrel to the glass with no preservatives or added sulfates making it the freshest, eco friendly wine in NYC. Join us daily for our guided wine flights, house-made retail wines to go and 400 bottle Wine Spectator Award winning wine list to go with executive chef Andres Barrera's new Mediterranean inspired dishes.
"Loved our first visit to this small, intimate and cool "backroom" of the better known City Winery performance space and restaurant. Definitely a winery atmosphere, reminiscent of northern California. About a dozen locally produced wines served right from the barrel! (That means smoother, less tanniny, delicious wines.) Available by the glass or as custom-designed tasting flights. Food menu is somewhat limited, BUT inventive and delicious, with plenty of veggie options too. Fairly priced (around $50 pp for dinner and wines.) Looking forward to going back..."

"A really great spot. I had a fantastic meal at the Barrel room. The appetizer's, cheese & meat selection are really solid and well thought out. You could easily build a light meat of small plates or go big sampling appetizers, charcuterie and one of the fantastic entrees. Definitely leave room for dessert and come thirsty. The barrel room has an outstanding wine selection many made in house. Notable meal standouts: fried olives, cloumage cheese plate, hanger steak, branzino, orange brown butter cake."

"Booked at last minute due to its proximity to our hotel , can only say we were both delighted to have done so. Great food and wines plus good service . Highly recommended ."

"Food started out in excellent fashion, my wife's appetizer and my first three courses (off tasting menu) were excellent. The came the overcooked and chewy filet minion! The wait service was generally good, friendly and attentive, but there were times when our server was difficult to find, so we just called on the nearest person for help.
I enjoyed the ambience in the Barrel Room, we got to hear some of the English Beat music coming from the entertainment space. We were celebrating an anniversary, the noise level was low enough to chat but fun enough to enjoy."

"Best burger i've had in 2013 so far. Played nothing but Jazz classics the entire time. Service was impecable. Great Wine. Not really sure what more you could ask for. After lunch we had a few delicious cocktails. I will certainly be coming back for more."

"This was my first visit to City Winery and I will most likely go back. The wine selection was very good and was reasonably priced. We got there during happy hour so they discounted our carafe of wine, which was a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious, but the portions were very small, don't go there hungry. After a while the room became extremely noisy so it was very hard to carry on a reasonable conversation. We left and got dessert somewhere else. Now that I know I'll be better prepared for when I go back."

"The Barrel Room is a fun and exciting restaurant!! We went for a fun night out to taste test one of the winery's homemade wines. The wine was great, the ambiance was perfect, and most notably, the service was exceptional! The bar tender really knew his wines and was also impressively knowledgable and respectful of my religious customs that apply when drinking wine. Kudos to City Winery and their great staff!"

"The Barrel Room is a small but has a good menu for a wine bar. It wans't overly busy and noisy but it was full. This was very enjoyable as I don't like over crowded places which you get a lot of in NYC. Our food was great, although I was quite dissapointed with the wine. I have had better bottle of Shiraz and for a 'wine bar' I would've expected a wider list of choices. Saying that our experience was good."

"Third time at the Barrel Room and still just as impressed. Had a great meal. Always recommend "Alex's Crudo" to start, very fresh with fun ingredients. Great wines by the glass and a good happy hour to boot."

"We were there for the Klezmer brunch. We didn't realize that it is more of a concert situation as opposed to background music. We wanted to talk to one another but felt inhibited to do so. Soooo, don't go unless you want to attend a concert. Food was fine but not amazing. I wouldn't go back for the food unless there was a show I really wanted to see. Staff very nice."

"Limited menu but what we had was quite good. Wine list not extensive but again, our wine was very good. It was a quiet Sunday night so not a typical weekend experience, but I'd go back."

"Great place to grab a bite before a show at the City Winery....or just to grab a bite if you're in the neighborhood! Relaxed and casual atmosphere. Menu has a nice variety with an excellent selection of wine and beer. Service was timely and friendly."

"A group of 8 of us had dinner here for my wife's birthday. The service is excellent. Everyone from the girl that greets you to the food servers, make you feel like the most important people in the room. Tasting the wine adds a fun twist on a great meal. The food, atmosphere and service added up to a great night out. We look forward to dining there again soon!"
