Michelin-starred Aquavit showcases Chef Marcus Jernmark's expression of seasonal, Modern Nordic fare. Located in Midtown Manhattan, Aquavit has been a pioneer of Nordic cuisine since opening 25 years ago. The restaurant has an extensive wine list as well as an aquavit infusion and cocktail program run by Wine Director Keri Levens. At lunch we offer an a la carte menu and a 3-course prix fixe for $35pp. At dinner we offer a 4-course prix fixe for $85pp where all menu items are also available a la carte. In addition we offer a 7-course tasting menu for $125pp.

"We went to Aquavit and had the Spring sampler 7-course meal which was one of my top 5 dining experiences. As others have said, the servers who are poor at English really can't explain the dish so I demanded that our head waiter explain each dish. We ended up with a phenomenal dinner as a result. Service, overall, still isn't the best of the best but it's not bad either. long waits on cocktail refills from a slow bar and refills on water weren't timely either.
All in all, next trip back to NYC, i'd love to eat there again."

"i'd always wanted to try aquavit as my girlfriend loves chef samuelsson though he had been long departed by the time i got around to visiting the restaurant. the tasting menu killed it i thought, and i believe that the "onion family" was one of the best dishes i have had in a long time (if i recall properly). i've heard of a couple people not having as good of an experience as me, but everyone i was with say that was one of the (if not the) best dining experiences they have had in the city. i would tend to agree especially given that the price was very reasonable as well. i also went there one week after a trip to denmark as well, and this place made my danish and norwegian comrades quite happy."

"We had the 8 course spring tasting menu with wine pairings. the food was specacular, and we cannot wait to return. the roasted langostine was some of the best i have eaten and the cheese course was unreal. the service was quite mediocre. or inconsistent really. we had a very nice "captain", but she did not describe each dish herself, and instead relied on non-english speaking runners to describe fairly intricate dishes. when she was around to describe the dishes she stumbled whan asked about some of the more obscure ingredients. at one point a server was rude to me that i had to tell the capain to ask that guy to not return to my table again. these people need better training, including the two at coat check and maitre d's station."

"The new Nordic cuisine is all the rage nowadays, and surely thousands of New Yorkers would give an arm and a leg to go experience it there. I can't say how Aquavit compares to Noma, and Aquavit probably doesn't want to be - but they engage the same flavor profiles that everyone seems to love now - and should. Pickles, alliums, dairy and bitter herbs were all huge features of the Aquavit menu, and I loved the way they enhanced and/or countered the main component of the majority of the dishes I was served. To my mind, not enough people know how great this restaurant is. I try to shy away from value judgments, but the food I was served was categorically better than 2-star NY Times and 1-star Michelin food."

"Not sure why as we have been many times before. Food was very average, fish under cooked. And the prices are still very high and getting higher. Left hungry. Spent $300. Very inflexible with Prie Fix Menu. Brought a dessert for mom's birthday. They accidentally charged us. We had to ask to have it removed."

"I hadn't been to Aquavit in over 8 years and didn't even realized that they had moved. Their current location is beautiful and very comfortable.
The food is eclectic, but amazing if you have a welcoming palate.
The only warning is that it is very, very expensive. Not sure I would go there on my own dime, but it is good on an expense account for clients."

"This is a resturant that surpassed our wildest expectations for service, food, and presentation. The 8 course tasting menu paired with wines is very expensive, but also very much worth it for a "once in a lifetime" gastronomic experience. Mini "surprizes" - tiny appetizers- are presented one after another before the meal, with unbelievable ingredient combinations and creativity we have never seen even at 5 star resturants. The tasting menu portions are just right, with all flavors complementing each other. Desert is fabulous- Artic Bird's Nest- (not real eggs), but frozen ice cream in a hand spun cracker web that is totally delicious. We did not have the world famous Sweedish Meatballs, but we will be back for those. Excellent Service"

"Rare is it that every course of a tasting menu is a winner. At Aquavit, each course was artfully presented and creatively conceived. This was somewhat expected as " Nordic foraging" seems to be the latest trend. What set this meal apart was that each and every item had a part to play not only in the presentation but to the tastebuds as well. The cocktails were a masterpiece in that each ingredient seemed to be measured to perfection. The bread was so hearty it could provide sustenance for a month in a Nordic winter. The broth surrounding the poached quail egg was heavenly. The foie gras was absolute perfection.
In a nutshell trendy beautiful presentation with even more impressive taste combinations"

"I hadn't been here in maybe 20 years. Wow has it changed--the food is amazingly inventive, including several elements of molecular gastronomy, plus the service is excellent.
We shared two great apps, the herring which was very good and the stunning grilled gravlax which was astoundingly good. It includes shaved fois gras which was roasted, frozen, and apparently shaved or microplaned; It had a great flavor that really complemented the dish (not just a gimmick--it worked!). They also served an amuse bouche of white asparagus soup served over white asparagus that served with smoke(!). I had the squab which was one of the best I've had. The creme brule was a wonderful dessert."

"When was the last time you thought, "let's try something different tonight?" How about Norwegian/Swedish food? The menu was not extensive, but the food was very good and not the same old same old. Excellent service - explained the dishes clearly and did not over sell. A great one to mix in to the midtown NY restaurant rotation."

"Aquavit is exceptional. There are wonderful restaurants in NYC but to us, Aquavit is beyond comparison. The staff is highly attentive, always ready to assist and eager to please. The ambiance is relaxing and stunning. The specific questions we had re: a few menu items we discussed with the Chef tableside. Multiple extra sides were brought to us to taste and we were given a small parting treat from the pastry chef as well. This is a restaurant that will achieve even more than their Michelin star. The Icelandic langoustine 'crudo' and the skrei were excellent!"

"Superb experience on all counts. My sisters came from Calif and we had dinner before the theatre. I really wanted it to be special. This was truly an amazing evening. All the service was impeccable. We ordered the four course meal but we had about 10 courses anyway. The presentation was gorgeous. It's tacky but we took pictures of some of the dishes because they were so gorgeous and tasted so good. The pork belly was a hit for main course as was the monkfish. The fried foie gras for a second course melted in your mouth. Along the way we were served extras like smoked mussel fresh pea soup, homemade vegetable chips and little veggie pops some topped with bacon. After dessert we got tiny beautiful cookies and then tiny brownies. Go!"

"Fantastic dining experience. Service was great from the moment we sat down although our "waitor" was a bit stiff in the beginning and then warmed up as the meal progressed. All of the "from the chef" extras were wonderful and perfectly portioned. They made the dining experience that much more special. Only criticism was that the food was incredibly salty. We expected it to be rich but the high level of salt was discernible in everything. The atmosphere was great -- there was a nice energy in the room but it was not loud and each table had a level of privacy that is harder to find in NYC these days. All in all, wonderful."

"The very good food was badly let down by patchy/poor service. The wine pairing was poor value for money as the quality was good but the quantities were meager to say the least. "Everything about our dinner at Aquavit was perfect. Our table was ready when we arrived. The room was pleasant with plenty of room between the tables. We had the tasting menu (which all four of us needed to order) and every dish was interesting, beautiful and delicious. Their extensive winelist had offerings in every price category.
