"We went to Bonaparte for breakfast because we didn't want to miss trying this restaurant on our trip to Montreal. It is a limited menu, but the food tasted great and the young waiters took great care of us. I would try again on my next trip, and look forward to either lunch or dinner next time."

"Everything about this place was great. We setup reservations through Opentable.com and requested a window view. From the moment we walked in and until we left, they took good care of us. The waitress was attentive, showed great timing and was very good at making us feel comfortable. The meal was excellent and there was so much more on the menu that we will have to come back.
Anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Montreal needs to consider Bonaparte."

"I brought an international gropu of colleagues here on a recent visit and was somewhat apprehensive as I had not been previously and I wanted everyone to feel they had a good evening at a nice restaurant. They were all very pleased with this chcoice and enjoyed the food and commented on the very good service.
I also noted the service, professional yet warm and notinstrusive.

"Bonaparte has a pretty dining room and excellent food but the service was a bit offhand. The food was well prepared and presented. The lobster salad and the mushroom ravioli were highlights! Is there any way the restaurant could prevent from having so many diners using handheld phones and devices in the dining room? It is not Bonaparte's fault that diners are so rudebutmit was off putting for sure. Bonaparte had a live.y noise level in the dining room and our dining experience was enhanced by the fact that there was not too much noise from music playing. it was a love.y meal and a convivial atmosphere where we could have a great visit and conversational an appropriate level without having to shout above too loud music."

"This very old building with old formal dining area serves excellent food. We had Prix Fixe Menu for $35 - excellent value, I had Game Terrine, Sirloin Steak and Creme Brulee. Excellently presented and served food for all three courses. This is worth a visit a fine dining experience with excellent service at a price that is affordable. "I researched Montreal's restaurants quite a bit, it was a birthday and anniversary celebration and we were only in Montreal over the weekend. Really thought we would love it. Read lots of reviews and thought some were troubling but decided they must be high maintenance people. It ended up being an awful experience. Started out fine (got there on time, nice table as requested by the window, very nice polite waitstaff and owners) and then it just fell apart. Way too busy and understaffed. We did a 5 course tasting menu, I think if we did the 7 courses we'd still be there. Food was average, duck confit probably best course. I've made better onion soup and filet mignon myself. We were there over 3 long hours--very disappointed."

"We had a wonderful Saturday evening at Bonaparte, our first visit there. The ambience was very pleasant. We loved the authentic traditional French decor, and the large fireplace in the room where we ate. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and our server, Catherine, was outstanding - so pleasant, helpful and charming. We were pleased to find that there was an excellent selection of wines by the glass, including several whites and reds. Our meal was excellent - I had the Table d'Hote, which offered a good variety of dishes at a reasonable price. The cassoulet with lamb was so delicious! My wife had two appetizers, not being too hungry. It is hard to imagine what could be improved at Bonaparte!"

Located in the gorgeous Old Montreal historical district, the restaurant offers a tremendous variety of mouthwatering options for couples or friends looking to try something new in a classy environment. "We went there for Valentine's. The food were delicious. My wife really liked the lobster salad. I liked the soup du jour. Our main courses were duck and tuna, which were pretty good. The service and ambience were good. The wine glasses were excellent."

"During a trip to Montreal, we went to Bonaparte on the recommendations of the Concierge Chris at Hilton Embassy Suites. I took my wife for dinner to celebrate her birthday, and the evening we enjoyed at Bonaparte was absolutely wonderful!! The food was perfection, the ambience and service impeccable! We will definately go to Bonaparte on our next trip to Montreal, and will for sure recommend this gem to our friends and family."

"My husband and I dined here for the first time on a quick trip to Montreal. The experience was just about perfect. The service is formal and expert but not at all stuffy. The food was delicious and also a good value, especially for such an expensive city. There are several choices of fixed-price menus depending on how hungry you are, so the restaurant is suited to a simple week night out or a special occasion. We found the atmosphere refreshingly traditional in a neighborhood of good restaurants that are somehow spoiled by trying too hard to be edgy.
I would have given a quiet rating but for some larger parties having a good time. The conversation was loud but it was tolerable, as the dining room seems to absorb the sound."
