The concept of the “hotel as a home” extends to the restaurant as its casual family kitchen. Inspired by the casual, simple elegance of modern dining, Jean-Georges has created menus that emphasize fresh, locally produced ingredients, served in a sleek and sophisticated setting.
A destination restaurant with four distinct experiences: an intimate second dining room featuring a fireplace, a heated outdoor seasonal Terrace with city views, an enticing Bar and a sophisticated Dining Room. The full menu is available in all areas of the restaurant.

"An incredible experience. The menu offerings make it a very difficult decision, from the appetizers to the mains to the dessert. The Sablefish was a melt in your mouth experience as was the Steelhead. Presentation was very very good. Good wine and cocktail listings. Try the Ginger Margarita if you like ginger, awesome. Service was very attentive, not overbearing and we had many of the staff come by to chat. We felt like valued diners.

"Started with a frisee salad which was excellent, and tasted the "signature" shrimp salad which was sublime. My sea bass main course was very good, if not outstanding. I'm not really a dessert person, but the cheesecake was absolutely the best I ever had. Very light.

"I have never had a bad meal at The Market and have enjoyed every experience there, which have been many! The beet salad and rice cracker crusted Ahi tuna are absolutely delicious! I order the same thing every time I go there. On the last occasion, my friend's risotto was also superb!
This last time, however, I was a little disappointed in the service. While it is sometimes nice to have quick service, the waiter seemed to rush us, pouring our wine far too quickly. I like to relax over a leisurely meal
Overall, however, the food and ambience at the Market are always wonderful."

"Took My mom for an early mother's day and was very disappointed...The food was great however the service was horrible especially when there were only 3-4 tables in the place. I ordered English breakfast tea, got Early Gray, latte was cold and sent back, had to ask to order, ask for our bill was not really a good experience when there are so many great brunch locations in the city! Maybe next time will be better!"

"Great Service, and food was awesome. Only downfall was the chicken was over done.
There was also a problem with one customer who was very loud speaking and several of us who seated quite close to him had asked to be moved away from him , even though we were moved to the other end of the ding room, this client still spoke very loudly which kind of spoiled the evening for some of us till he left. At least we were able to enjoy our dessert.
Otherwise, this place is great for food, wine and service and we ail keep coming back.

"We were dining with a client of our gallery. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly - nice to have coat check service. Loved the delicious, refreshing ginger ale and the scallop starter was cooked to perfection. 2 of us had the soy glazed short ribs which were flavourful & so tender. Our guest had the sablefish & we all enjoyed the delicious truffle mashed potatoes, garlic broccoli & caramelized cauliflower sides. Desserts of warm chocolate cake and the house cheesecake with delicious citrus sorbet were the perfect ending to our meals. I only wish I had been offered a coffee refill during dessert. Will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to others."

"My girlfriend and I ate here while we stayed in the Shangri-La Hotel, the food was absolutely fantastic. We got a little bit confused because we had one girl seat us and take our orders but then half way through our dinner, with no warning, we had a new waiter. Although, my girlfriends beef tenderloin came rare at best, she asked for medium. When she sent it back, it took over 10 minutes to get it back on the table and when it came back there was no apology from the waiter. Our waiter seemed very rushed, he was not interactive at all, he seemed like he just wanted to get diners out so he could seat more people.
Overall, a great experience at Market. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

Delicious food with many choices to choose from in their $29 price fixe brunch menu.

"Booked for the tasting menu. The food was good but the experience was let down by the lack of theatre. No amuse bouche. No sorbets or treats between courses. A hurried approach to service with pairings not always explained. And cardinal sin - setting for breakfast around us as we ate. At 21:00. They should serve and set for the meal in progress. They can set for the next day when the guests have departed. Not a Michelin experience."

"The service was a little slow at the front end but the server made up for it throughout the meal. We enjoyed scallops as our appie which was wonderful. My partner had the short ribs and said they were some of the best he has ever had. I enjoyed my parmesan crust chicken though found it slightly over cooked but not enough to send it back. The beets were delicious! We were seated quite close to another table for 2 however we enjoyed conversation with them throughout the evening. The overall price was a bit high considering the entrees were under $30 and we did only had a martini each as well as 3 glasses of wine between us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"WOW! DEEELICIOUS! I went to Market for my birthday and had the home made ginger ale which was SO fresh and delicious you could really taste the gingery freshness! We also shared the mini flatbread/pizza for an appie which was pretty good! For mains my mom had the chicken chicken with the best lemon sauce I have ever tasted! so good and creamy! I had amazing fish, with truffle mashed potatoes and truffle sauce on the side. We also has gnocchi and mushrooms as sides which were outstanding. The gnocchi were featherlight and covered in Parmesan! For dessert I got a beautiful molten chocolate lava cake with Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream! Totally awesome! I would definitely recommend and return Market!"

"The appretizers and entrees pretty good. Desserts also good, except the ice cream and sherbet I ordered were very disappointed. The menu was assorted ice cream or sherbet. I ordered icecream, as I always like icecream and thought it would come with different flavours. However, the three scoops were all caramel, and was too sweet for me and I almost choked after first spoon. Nicely, the waiter offered to give sherbet. The sherbet come with three scoops, in purple color like rasberry, and very sour. Overall, I was happy with everything things but the ice cream and sherbet."

"We unfortunately did not have a great experience as there were two other patrons that were unhappy with the fact that they could not order from the regular menu. It became so distracting that it ruined our evening. I don't blame the host from trying to reason with these individuals but it became so over the top that it made us feel second rate. The entire staff seemed to have been told to ensure that these two people were to be engaged at every opportunity and it ended up being a sacrifice to our service. The worst part was that the meal was excellent, too bad that that is not what we will remember from the evening."

"Love, Love, LOVE Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant! We have always had a wonderful dining experience here. From the service to the amazing food taste and presentation - you can't go wrong. An extra treat this time around? Oprah and friends attended. Dine Out 2013 menu included: Appies: Butternut squash soup - Great flavour & consistency. Tuna Tartar, Avocado: Delicious. Mains: Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop: Perfectly done, exquisite flavour. Slowly Cooked Steelhead: Moutwatering & delicate. Parmesan Risotto: Amazing. "This was my second time at Market by Jean-Georges and from the moment my family and I sat down our server Kenneth treated us as if we were royalty. His sense of humour and promptness even made our own table critic sit up and take note (my Mom). I really wish I could afford to eat at Market by Jean-Georges more often. But if I don't come back for a while it won't matter because when we come back we know we'll be treated as royalty."

"We really enjoy this restaurant; food different and delicious, service corteous and efficient and ambiance elegant and romantic, all this is really nice, but.......20.00 for a 6oz cup of wine and decaf coffee are just too much, some restaurants really abuse what they charge for Brevages and in the long run you do not feel like going back."

"Dine-out vancouver review: Squash soup and tuna tartare were pretty good to start. However, the pork chop & risotto were not outstanding and it definitely did not meet my expectations for a restaurant in that price range. This was my 2nd time there, both time the service is very good; food are just so so. Might not go back if the food does not improve for the price they charge."

"It was my first time visiting this restaurant through Vancouver Dine-Out. We were greeted by the hostess, not very warm or friendly, but we were greeted. There was no introduction or further greeting. However, they were quick to deliver the food. The appies, entrees and desserts were awesome. Ingredients were fresh, plating was well thought-out and the colors were well-chosen and vibrant. Besides the service, the place has awesome and is a place I will definitely recommend to all my friends."

"The service was efficient and very attentive. The atmosphere is romantic, trendy and modern as I expected. I do find that the Dineout menus for fine dining restaurants are not that reflective of what the restaurant can do on a regular day at their normal pricing. "My husband and I dined at Market as part of Dine Out Vancouver, so we went for there prix-fixe menu, which we had seen on the web in advance and had appealed to us. We liked the appetizers that we had, the tuna tartare and the beet salad. The tuna tartare, with its avocado bed and the radishes on top, would have been exquisite had it not had too much of the sour-ginger-spicy sauce which was a little overpowering. Even though I had noticed how almost every restaurant participating in Dine Out had listed a cheesecake as one of the desserts, which I found quite boring, and Market was one of them, I ordered their cheesecake with orange icecream and quamcat marmalade and I must say it was one of the most amazing cheesecakes I ever had. Try it!"
