"This was the second time that we made early (pre-crowd) reservations in order to secure a good table outdoor. When we arrived at 5:30pm only about six tables were occupied in the entire restaurant . We asked for an outdoor table and they lead us indoor. We again asked for an outdoor table and they lead us to tables outside in the walkway. We then asked for the main outdoor area and the staff member seemed irritated and took us to a table next to two diners while the rest of the area remained unoccupied. After we finished, only about 40% of the tables were filled. We've been dedicated patrons of Spencer's but these two experiences have been disappointing."

"Regarding the staff: First and foremost, we arrive and notice that the valet is smoking a cigarette and doesn't even say hello. Next, the hostess does not have a smile in her. During the meal, the one of the servers brings us water and literally make my wife lean over against the wall so that he can reach her glass... instead of walking around the table. The last 45 minutes of the meal we spent wondering where our waiter had disappeared to -- we never saw him again but thankfully one of the waitresses helped us with our check. REALLY?
The food: We ordered the Spencer sample platter with calamari, prawn and lobster cakes. All but the lobster cakes tasted as though they had been frozen food, over crispy and just nothing deemed of the price."

"a gem for a special breakfast. food was prepared fresh and presented well, you don't have to break the bank to eat here. many choices at mid and higher price levels. if you are picky do not eat outside as trees are present with some birds leaves and potentially bugs but we were not distracted from enjoying our visit; you can ask to eat inside. excellent service."

"We took my mother here for a combined birthday and mother's day. We were advised by friends to request seating outdoors and were glad we did. It was 100 degrees outside, but the patio is sheltered with fans and misters so it was very comfortable.The food and service were great and the noise level low enough that we could have a conversation without having to raise our voices. The prices are reasonable for fine dining if you order carefully."

"It was our first wedding anniversary and I asked for a bouquet of daisies and a bottle of martinelies sparkling cider. Spencer's had everything at the table when we arrived. I advised Spencer's that it was a surprise for my wife and they kept the surprise. Oh, the reason for the daisies was because my wife's name is Daisy. The food was excellent. The Mahi Mahi was prepared perfectly and the Ceasar salad was excellent. Ii would recommend Spencer's to all of my friends."

"My husband and I had dinner on the patio for a birthday getaway. The patio is so gorgeous and the service and food were impeccable. We loved everything from the salad to the wine to the dessert. The entire meal was perfect. We would go back there in a heartbeat."

"This was our third visit coinciding with our third consecutive year of coming to Palm Springs for a brief vacation. We've found the ambiance to be beautiful and romantic (especially outside). The staff is attentive, but not overly so. An interesting variety on the menu and a great wine list. Spencer's is not inexpensive, but appropriately priced for a special occasion."

"For lunch my wife and I had a walnut salad and a cobb salad with one glass each of the cheapest sparkling wine on the menu and we split one dessert. Total cost was $68 including tip and tax. Salads and dessert were average and portion size was below average. We ate outside on a pleasant but crowded patio. We won't return."

"Pricey but well worth it! Everyone agreed that the food was both well presented and delicious. I had a Kung Pao Calamari as an appetizer that was the best I have ever had! Better then any Asian restaurant. The appetizer was so large that I could have had only this but I did have Filet Mignon which was cooked to me desired perfection. No room for deserts. They have a vast wine list with prices from 35$ up into the thousands. When we return, and we will return, I will have only an appetizer.
Service was outstanding and done in a timely manner respecting our wish to take our time. The only negative we incurred was that we had to ask several time to turn the air conditioning down. We, and other patrons were cold."

"We hadn't been to Spencer's in awhile, but it was just as good as we had remembered.
The seafood we sampled was all excellent (crispy skin whitefish & Dover sole, along with the seafood platter appetizer). The service was friendly and timely. We couldn't sit outside, but we did get a table overlooking the tennis courts and that was just fine. The wine list is very solid and has plenty of choices at all price levels. The only minor disappointment was the banana cream pie for dessert. It was too light on the bananas.
Otherwise, a really nice dining experience."

"The waiter argued with my brother-in-law about how he wanted the sandwich fixed. He kept arguing that the menu didn't say that and it took quite a while for him to write down what my guest wanted. The other three guests got their food and I didn't. Finally, a manager came around and asked if everything was alright and I replied that it would be better if I got my food. She brought it to me finally. We had to ask the same young lady for our bill.
The other workers were just great and kept our glasses full of water, etc. We were greeted and seated right away. It was just the waiter who knocked the shine off of our experience. I have to think hard if I want to come back, there are so many great places to eat in this area."

"Terrific evening at Spencer's this weekend. Arrived at 8:20 for 8:30 reservation and were offered to either sit inside by the piano immediately or outside under the twinkle lit trees on the beautiful patio in 20 minutes. We were hungry so decided to sit inside by the piano and we were very happy we did. The pianist was very talented and the music was not at all loud. The decor is elegant and informal at the same time with many open windows and doors looking out onto the patio. Started with the crab cakes and scallop starters and then he had the mushroom dusted filet with gorgonzola sauce and I opted for the Chilean Sea Bass with a lovely lemon-caper butter sauce and poached tomatoes."

"Made a reservation. The Hostess was RUDE. I wanted to be seated outside and she told me that I should have made a special request. I should have done this and I should have done that. I would have left but my out of town guest came to eat there. I Won't Be Back. Have been there plenty of times and never a problem. She needs an attitude adjustment."
