Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo
The menu at Paul Martin’s consists of dishes aimed at taking diners back to the American farm with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced organic produce, fish from conscientious fishmongers, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors and custom-made bread from expert bakers. The California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State’s fruitful vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. And behind Paul Martin’s elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of local craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin’s local, American Bistro.

"An"organic" restaurant for foodies, and meat lovers that we have visited in LA.. We had a couple of hours till our flight and this restaurant is located within 10 minutes of car rental returns. Our server was friendly and immediately told us about the concept of the restaurant, using freshest organic produce, and meats from animals not treated with antibiotics. Pulled pork sandwich came with home-made slaw. Tastiest coleslaw I've eaten, with a cilantro accent. The pulled port had a tangy sauce, and the sweet potato fries were perfect. At lunch this portion was ample enough for us to avoid airline food on our long trip back east. My wife had the pork enchiladas with fresh tomatillo sauce. There is a great wine list, of cali wines."

"Had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Why? Wines I checked were offered at 2.5 to 3x retail cost. Food was very good. Service was not attentive enough. Light coming in through window made it impossible to see my friend's face. We asked to be moved and were moved right away. I don't think I should not have had to asked. Food was very good."

"We went for Mother's Day brunch and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to order off the regular menu as well instead of the brunch menu so we all enjoyed the Sunday Prime rib meals which included a delicious dessert! As always, the food and service was outstanding and as an extra special treat, mothers received a $25 gift card from the manager!!"

"This was my third visit to Paul Martin's in El Segundo and it was just as pleasant as my initial visits. The service staff were very both welcoming and pleasant. The server gave us all the attention we needed and was never overbearing. We were celebrating my son's graduation from LMU and Paul Martin's was just the place to have this celebration!"

"I celebrated my best friends birthday at Paul Martins on a Friday night with a group of girl friends and had Jeffery as our server and he was AMAZING. He is everything you could want in a server to be and the managers that were on site that night were also very attentive and made us feel like their number one customer. The food and suggested cocktails were to die for!. So i went back a week later to take out a couple customers for a business dinner . We were lucky enough to have Jeffery again and I have to say, he must love his job because you can tell he has fun and values his customers. We all would go back and making a reservation was the easiest part. From the host to the service of food Paul Martins is a perfect place to dine. =)"

"We went for brunch, but seeing that they only had breakfast foods, opted for lunch. The grilled salmon sandwiches were delicious. The only complaint was that they had the dark, heavy curtains closed on their beautifully remodeled outdoor patio. When I asked if we could open them, they claimed that the people INSIDE might complain because of the glare. I mean, really? There are curtains that can be closed between the two areas to "protect" the people inside, so that those of us who actually like a patio can enjoy it. We were finally directed to a table in the far corner, where they grudgingly opened the curtain at the end by our table. I don't know if we'd go back there if we couldn't enjoy the "outdoor" patio as it was meant to be enjoyed."

"Enjoyed the weekend brunch. We had French Toast and the Shrimp Omelet, both were very tasty. The addition of a fruit bowl as a starter was a nice touch. Our waitress was very attentive and expertly engaged my 5 year old's questions."

"We decided to take advantage of their day-before-Mother's Day two-for-one brunch deal, and are glad we did! As always, the food was delicious and the service cheerful and professional. "This is normally a good restaurant with decent service; however, we had a bad experience this past Friday. Our servicer was quite slow throughout the whole experience. It took nearly ten minutes for her to come over to take our drink order, and there were significant delays in taking the food order, bringing the food and processing the check. We had also told her that we were short on time as we were trying to catch a movie. Apparently, that didn't register with her. Also, the entrees came out (delivered by someone else) while we were still eating our appetizers."

"Don't fall for the brunch....brunch in "Paul Martin speak" is an overly expensive breakfast. After making a noon reservation for the $19 brunch which they were offering two for the price of one for their Easter weekend "special," the only entree choices were omelettes or french toast. No proteins other than eggs to speak of. Ended up ordering off the menu for twice the cost. $17 for a French dip sandwich....are you kidding. Need to learn from their older, more experienced, former relative, Fleming's, when it comes to what a delicious brunch is made of."

"My meal was very good with the exception of my ribeye steak which was 30% fat. It was tender and seasoned and cooked perfectly but the amount of fat was excessive even for ribeye, a cut that I eat almost exclusively. Caesar salad was fair. Salt and Pepper Prawns were outstanding. I have eaten other items from the menu and I am always satisfied but the ribeye was disappointing."

"We were 30 minutes late for our reservation but the host was as nice as could be and seated us right away. We were immediately greeted by our waiter. He was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely attentive. We ordered the smoked salmon appetizer along with oysters, the perfect starter before our meal. The marinated hangar steak with bourbon honey glazed sweet potatoes was delicious. My friend ordered the fried chicken special. The meal included a good sized salad, enough chicken and mashed potatoes to feed two people followed by a blonde brownie topped with ice cream, all for only $20. Both very tasty. I was very impressed by the fact that the food is all organic, no hormones and everything purchased locally. I will definitely go back."

"We've been to Paul Martin's before and always have had a great experience. This time, however, because we made reservations for an earlier time than usual, we were seated near the bar rather than the back and it was a lot noisier. (We also got a weird corner table even though we had reservations.) While the food was good -- the Sunday prime rib special -- service was lacking. The waiter didn't = pay attention to what we wanted (like no ice in the water), and seemed disappointed that we didn't order the cocktail he was pushing or the mushroom soup (which is excellent, but we felt like salad). The busboys and food deliverers were great, almost as if they tried to compensate for our drippy waiter. Still, go for the good food."

"We had a great dinner - requested a quiet booth and we got that too! Love the braised short ribs...will go back again and again as long as they have those. Spinach salad is also a winner, as is the butter lettuce salad w/ blue cheese and walnuts and apples. I've never had a bad meal here."
