"I love Bar Italia and would strongly recommend it. I would say to order the "off the menu" items, though, if you have a choice. Regular fare is good there, but tends to lack some of the vibrancy of the special dishes they put together."

"The only reason I gave the food a three star was because the use of pepper was way over the top.
They usually are way better than that...so it may have just been a one evening glitch.

"It took over 45 minutes before anyone approached us about being helped. We had water on the table and that was it. Once the manager finally realized we had not been helped he made sure he helped us the rest of the night. The food was good but the service could be a lot better."

"In an eclectic vibrant neighborhood with plenty of dining options, it is easy to see why this is the only restaurant without a wait. We arrived for our reservation & quickly realized it was not needed. The place was empty while the restaurants around it had a 30 to 60 minute wait. With an open dining room & plenty of seating, we were quickly placed under a staircase next to a coat rack. The service wasn't half bad, but the food was absolutely horrible. The pasta was missing half the ingrediants listed on the menu and arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. At first one could assume that this dish was pre-made earlier in the day, but on second review I can not rule out that this was simply an $18 microwaved tv dinner. I will not visit again."

"I have loved Bar Italia since its first days when it was located on the other side of Euclid. Although the food is still quite good, I've noticed that it doesn't seem as "full of life" as it used to. I'd still recommend Bar Italia, though. It's easily one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis."

"I made reservations for a group of 6 and we had a great time. Not being too familiar with Italian wines, the waitress was very knowledgable on their wine list and recommended a fantastic wine after just asking me a few questions regarding the kinds of wine I like. The food took awhile to come out, but it was worth the wait cause it too was amazing. Overall had an awesome experience."

"We were with a large group who were celebrating and our waitress was wonderful! The food was outstanding and we had a lovely view from the upstairs looking over the street below. Our waitress volunteered to give us checks grouped by couples which we really appreciated. I would highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return when we visit St. Louis."

"This place is great. They accommodated us adding 3 people to our reservation last minute. They didn't mind when we walked in the door 15 minutes late. I felt horrible, but they still had our large table ready and waiting for us. Hostesses were super nice. The server was completely 'on it!" She was great. Brought all the food and drink quickly since we had a concert to go to, but the food was delicious and fresh and hot. Well done!"

"I have never been to this restaurant before and I was looking for somewhere nice to go to on Valentines Day. I came across this place and thought I would try it. It would be a great place to visit the bar side of it but dining there was not so good. The food was terrible and it was really expensive. The service was ok but I probably would have been just as happy going somewhere else that was close to home. The dining area was small and we felt really cramped at our table. It was right by the door so it was freezing with all the people coming in and out. I will not be going back."

"We dined at Bar Italia for the first time a short while ago on a Wednesday night, early. I informed we had reservations and was ignored. We were seated right next to another couple, and asked to be moved. When a restaurant is EMPTY, why sit patrons right on top of each other. I do not care to hear their conversations nor do I want to share mine. Our server was glad to move us, and she was excellent. The food was good, but once again another couple came in and they sat them right next to us. The couple did not object, but she was on the phone the whole time and totally ruined our dinner. Not sure I will go back-"

"As residents of the CWE we enjoy taking advantage of the many local restaurants. Bar Italia has emerged as our favorite. The menu is interesting and varied if not expansive. The wait staff is professional and attentive. Most importantly the food is always well prepared and presented. We are great fans of salmon and have become picky about the quality of preparation. The salmon at Bar Italia is always perfectly moist and delicious, never overcooked and dried out. It comes with great Kale greens and a polenta cake. The serving is generous and we generally split a salad and the salmon."
