"I had the Vegetable and Pasta soup (Minestrone-like) and Linguini de Mare, both of which were excellent! We reserved a table for 4 at 7 PM and the table was waiting for us when we arrived despite the restaurant being full otherwise, so very good service."

"I took my wife here for her 45th and it was quite nice. The wait staff was extremely attentive, courteous, very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. My wife is a vegetarian who loves Italian and she found some great options here. I'm a meat eater, and while I went with pasta, there were all kinds of great choices for me too. Her de Mare dish was fresh & delicious, made with sustainable fish. My tortelloni in light cream sauce was great. We skipped dessert (birthday cake at home) but those options looked really good as well. Definitely coming back."

"This is truly a neighborhood gem. It feels intimate and a place to go with a special someone or good friends. The food is consistently good and the specials on the menu are always interesting and never disappointing. It is a family run restaurant and has been here for decades but feels very modern and fits right in to all the new restaurants opening in the Bay Area. The wine list is not huge but is always good and we seem to discover new wines all the time that we enjoy. It is quiet so a good place to talk and linger if that is what you want.Make a resrervation on the weekends because they do get crowded. It is a place where you feel like you get personal attention and you are not rushed at all.I highly recommend Mangia Mangia."

"I used to frequent Mangia Mangia when I lived in Berkeley. That was over 7 years ago. Last Friday a friend and I had an amazing dinner. Nothing has changed, which is good, because it was always amazing. Do not forget to order the chocolate soufflé once you get your entree. They bake to order so don't think the waitstaff are "pushy" if they ask if you want it during your meal."

"On Valentine's Day, we were seated next to a cabinet containing silverware, napkins, etc. Servers frequently opened the door, inches from my wife's head. We asked to be reseated, and the nice manager rearranged tables to solve that problem.
My wife ordered chicken marsala, and I narrowed my choice to lamb or short ribs and asked the waiter for a recommendation. I happily accepted his enthusiastic recommendation for the ribs. After a too-long wait, a server arrived with chicken marsala for my wife and risotto for me. I pointed out the error, and the waiter told me there were no more ribs (or lamb)! I was ready to walk out, but they managed to find an order of lamb. Surprisingly, no apology or offer to make it up by comping dessert"

"We love Mangia Mangia. There is no place else in the East Bay like this. The menu is ever changing and we have never, in several years of dining here, had a bad meal. It does fill up fast, so we make reservations and try to dine early, especially before we are going out for an evening of entertainment. Our waiter was delightful, knowledgeable and the service flow was excellent. Attention to detail makes this our favorite place for a special evening."
