The Grill from Ipanema
The Grill From Ipanema is the only authentic Brazilian restaurant in town. This restaurant takes pride in its hospitality and is committed to offering the best culinary experience so that one can truly taste traditional Brazilian cookery with different flavors and from different regions in Brazil. The inspiration of the menu is a reflection of the people, different cultures, and flavors within Brazil. Try our "Moqueca Mista a Baiana" style, it is a mixed seafood stew of fish, shrimp, mussels, squid, clams and scallops is prepared in a blend of palm oil and coconut milk with fresh cilantro, tomato, onion, scallions and green pepper (Please indicate how spicy) served in a clay pot with rice and fish broth, and a yucca purée on the side. Grill from Ipanema is a delightful surprise to anyone interested in a unique adventure from way down south.

"Excellent food - we were table of six Washingtonians, and everyone (including a couple of foodies) loved their meals! It's also a really nice find in that you actually have some space between the tables, so if you go in a group, you're not screaming to be heard over either the restaurant noise or the table next to you. Great for catching up! They have real cahacha, will make any drink you want, and the beef, seafood, and chicken were all amazing. Hot bread to the table, super fresh vegetables, can't ask for more!"

The Caipirinhas were very good. We had green mussels(not noteable) and chicken croquettes(tasty with the dipping sauce) to start. The Churrasco Misto and Picanha Grelhada were excellent but the Feijoada and Baiana Mista (everyone raved about the fish stews online) were just OK. For dessert the passion fruit mousse was wonderful but the flan was OK.
Although the service was excellent the waiter was a bit aloof (not overly friendly) and the bus boy was all about getting the plates off the table. He did not care if you were done or not. There was no need to rush because there were plenty of tables.
I think we will return but will be more careful what we choose."

"delicious Brazilian food in this place! I have had Brazilian food before but nothing like the Grill. They offer a great selection of authentic dishes (they even have alligator as an appetizer!)I did not try that but definitely try the "coxinha de galinha" (chicken croquette style) There have a menu for both seafood and steak lovers. Great cocktail list as well. I love the coconut drink! Very friendly and warm service. It represented Brazil very well."

"We have had brazilian food in the past, and the flavor was great. This unfortunately was very bland. The woman there was so sweet and nice. The man who was a server was disconnected and took forever. All the meats were over cooked and tough to eat. This is the menu we had between all of us.
Filezinho - No flavor and way overcooked, meat was chewy
Churrasquinhos (chicken) *this was the good, but slightly overcooked*
Feijoada - meat overcooked, beans weren't consistent with other sides of beans. Collard greens were good.
Carre A Mineira - the pork chop was good. *pork chop was the best item we had*

Unfortunately, we would not go back."

"The food here is excellent! This time I tried the seafood paella and their steak. I can't really pick a favorite because both were so flavorful! Also their caipirinihas are AMAZING but a bit pricy for how small they are. Still, it is worth getting at least 1. Sometimes the waiters can be a little too low and the bussers a little too fast in taking away your plates, but I'll still be coming back. Their hostess is really attentive, though, and seems to genuinely care about the guests."

The restaurant week menu had a wide variety of reading options. The inclusion of a Brazilian cocktail was an added treat.

"The food was outstanding! However, if you are going to the restaurant 7:00pm and later I would not recommend using the valet because only one person is working and he was having trouble finding spots to park customers cars. A lot people in the restaurant were complaining. In addition, I spent 20 minutes waiting in the valet line. I decided to get out of the valet line and park in the nearest parking garage. I recommend parking in the parking garage that is on the main strip of Adams Morgan. This parking lot is only two short blocks from the restaurant."
