"The food was good, but not great. The wait staff was very accommodating for our larger group and took care of our special requests. For the price of drinks, etc., I really think they could pick up the ambience a bit. That would be our biggest criticism."

"It was so loud I felt like I was sitting in an Applebee's, not an upscale restaurant. The server greeted us with "Sorry". My husband asked how he was doing. The server answered, "busy". I watched our server yell at the bread guy in the middle of the dining room, getting in his face and waving his arms like an idiot. The bread guy went in the back and returned with two baskets of bread, one of which he practically slammed on our table without a word. The server had to send someone else to our table to help pick a different type of wine because they were out of what we had ordered. I had risotto that was bland. My husband had the NY strip that I thought was dry. We didn't see our server again until we were finished eating."

"Our group increased from 6 to 8 an hour before and they said no problem. When we arrived we asked to be moved out to the outdoor dining and they said no problem. It was the start of a fantastic Sunday brunch experience where everything was fantastic. Everyone in the group, young and old were extremely happy with the experience."

"Great food and service. We keep coming back. We live in the area and, despite all of the tourists taking in Chicago's Grant Park sites in and around the restaurant, this restaurant isn't overrun by tourists nor do they compromise on quality and service as often seen at other establishments where one-time passing through tourists are the key patrons. "Park & Grill is located in the heart of Millennium Park so it is very convenient for everyone spending some time in the area, which has many activities. I was a little disappointed with the Salmon and the NY Steak, I expected a little more for the price. Next time I will try the burgers since they looked great."

"I walked in and thought the restaurant had a classy, romantic look. Unfortunately the menu and food does not carry that same feeling. I ordered the Lamb Rigatoni. My food was extremely salty and my date's food was just "ok" in his words. I was embarassed because I was treating his to dinner for his birthday. The chef's menu should match the look of the restaurant. I was terribly disappointed."

"Smoked Shrimp salad was excellent. Aged porterhouse was unbelievable good. Pineapple upside-down cake was excellent. The Hendricks's gin old fashion was almost as good as the Woodford's Reserve old fashion. One of the best meals ever."

"Sitting and watching the world go by, ask for a table near the window and enjoy the people watching.
Always interesting specials, great service never rushed, we always go for the wait staff's suggestions, and are always pleased we did.
The only thing we miss is the Hot Chocolate - only available in the winter - it is a special treat we would love to have year round!"

"We often dine at the Park Grill before concerts and find the food and overall experience are consistently good. The crab cake was one of the best ever and the beet salad with goat cheese and grilled chicken was perfect. As a fan of beet salad, I've noticed that Park Grill has changed it's recipe at least three times and all three versions have been very good.
Sometimes the ambiance is quiet and intimate and sometimes a bit noisy with tourists and families-never unruly, just louder. Our waiter this time was busy and not especially attentive; however the hostess, manager, and servers were very friendly and helpful."

"Hostesses were not very cordial; we arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were kept waiting to be seated even though lots of open tables were visible. Serving staff were more accommodating and personable. I suggest that the hostesses be trained a bit in customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere and that seating or some other more pleasant ambiance be made available if waiting is required, rather than standing near the entrance, feeling part of a traffic jam. The risotto and beet salad were good. Excellent location."

"Was our first time at the Park Grill. Location is great; prices not outrageous. Service friendly and good. Was a little dark inside but for those with the view to the outdoor eatery, was fun people watching but with talking we enjoyed our friends without looking after awhile. Recommended/ featured asparagus salad main course was very good, despite was mostly greens; with homemade vegi spread and added choice of protein it was plenty. Loved not having to change our parking location and could easily walk to our CSO concert. Planning to go again....location, location, location! ....its best feature! Too bad 3 of the 4 of us ordered the same thing...would have liked to see more selections. ....next time."

"I am a Chicago resident and remember going to the Park Grill in the first years it was open. It was a classy place with good food. I was really disappointed on this recent visit. The service was terrible; our server ignored us for extended periods of time even though the restaurant was half empty. The food was only mediocre. It feels as though they have decided that they can make their business just on tourists who are never going to come back again. I recommend going across the street to The Gage instead."

"Our experience was pleasant. The food was very good. I had the chopped salad which was superb and the duck breast which was very good. It's best to order it medium rare, as the chef suggests. My wife had the salmon and said it was excellent, as well as the pear and Gorgonzola salad. All in all it was a good experience and we would go back in a heart beat."

"Now the service is horrible. First, there were no crayons for the kid menu. Not a big issue but if you offer a kid menu with games on it then at least give the kids something to write with.
We sat for twentyinutes when I finally asked a passing waitress who tried to cut off my question by blurting out that tables would open up outside soon. We just responded saying we just want a waiter and water. It took another ten minutes to get water and a waitress.
Service has never been good, but it is just terrible now. The food was disappointing this time, too."

"I celebrated mother's day with my three teenagers by visiting the Art Institute and dining at the Park Grill. The menu was nicely varied with good choices for everyone. The burgers and fries were delicious, as was the reuben sandwich, beet and goat cheese salad, tortilla soup, and the spring risotto. French onion soup was only so-so. The waiters were lighthearted and welcoming. It's a fun place for a special meal downtown and you don't need to be too dressed up."

"Asked to be seated outside -- front desk threw some attitude at us (there were about 7 open tables... so I was kind of annoyed by that)
Was seated outside in possibly the worst possible table. My seat was DIRECTLY in front of the space where waiters kept water pitchers, silverware, etc. Therefore there was someone in my personal space constantly.
Our waiter was very nice, however. While it took him a long time to come to our table the first time and take our order, he was appropriately attentive.
The food was just OK. Pretty unremarkable. I used to love this place. Not sure I'd return."

"the selection seemed small, but then the portions were small too. Although tasty, the salad with the extra salmon ordered, was barely sufficient to allay hunger. Lettuce is not so costly...there should be more on the plate for a main course. Our salads were definitely side-salad size and for $17...way too costly."

"This place was great! We were seated immediately despite being 15-20 minutes earlier than our reservation. The hostess took our coats and seated us. Our server was with us seconds later. My mom and I decided to order 2 appetizers and a salad to split. My favorite thing we had was the sausage flatbread. It was amazing! The steak salad was also superb. I liked the flavors in the prosciutto app, but it was a bit awkward to eat. They also have a fabulous olive spread they serve with the bread. If you are looking for a nice bottle of wine, you will probably find it here. They have an extensive selection. Another item of note, was they asked us if we were dining prior to seeing a show at the theater to make sure we were out on time."

"Seated promptly. Great table.Then sat for at least 15 minutes before our server came to our table. No "Hello". She simply asked in a very irritated voice " Do you know what you want"? We ordered. We were served politely ( by others).Many of us would have liked another drink and a second cup of coffee.We sat & sat. Were we ever asked ? No. I found our missing server and asked her if we could have more coffee. Almost ten minutes pasted with no sign of coffee or our server. So I went to the front desk and explained the situation. A few minutes later our server showed up poured more coffee -spilling at each pour. Beware if a tall woman with a long dark ponytail approaches your table and says"Do you know what you want"? Your'e in for a treat!"

"Park Grill is so well located...near the Art Institute....on Michigan Avenue near a boulevard of beautiful flowers...and under the "Bean" in Millenium Park! Hard to beat that. Plus the food is great. And the staff amazingly friendly and competent. I'm an out-of-towner...but have been here many times. And can't wait to return."

"There is something to please every palate here. Convenient meeting place for out of town guests staying in the Loop. Parking discount after 4:30 PM was a bonus.
Our waitress was nice in the beginning ( took our photos etc) but seemed to take a turn for the worst - they were not overly crowded and she was not that busy. It was really a slow night! We did not order drinks. OUr bill was $40 per person and we tipped over 20% ( of course she wouldn't have known we were going to do that ). The bus boy was particularly nice / good! I tipped him too.
Message to wait staff: don't judge customer by their dress ( or a book by its cover!)"
