"Possibly the worst dinning experience I have ever had. We were left stranded at the bar for nearly an hour waiting for our reservation (with a half full restaurant). Our first course (soup) took 40 minutes to arrive with no acknowledgement from our waitress - and was a terrible bowl of salt and citrus masquerading as asparagus soup. We sent back the soup and began contemplating our escape from this terrible experience. We then asked that they simply send our main courses - and these took another 30 minutes to arrive while a plethora of food flowed past us to surrounding tables. Once our mains finally arrived - we were utterly underwhelmed and began contemplating what we had in our fridges at home."

"Our experience was not a good one, from the service being slow to the food being mediocre. They had a couple of very large parties as well as a full house and they could not keep p with the food. In fact, our waiter even commented that the kitchen cold not keep up within the number of meals. If they knew they had large reservations for hat night, they should have landed better. Then once the food did finally come out (entrees arrived after 10 pm for a 7:15 reservation) the waiter started to cop an attitude. We will not reccommend Town Hall to anyone and will never go back."

"Two of us had the rib-eye, which we both thought was pretty mediocre. kind of tough and with a fair bit of connective tissue. Plus neither of us realized it was going to be pan fried - would not have ordered it had the menu included that information. Also, very little evidence of the sauce au poivre it was to include. A dining companion had a the halibut that he seemed to enjoy. We shared a side of jambalaya and no one cared for that. The service was ok but she took a bit of the minimalist approach to the service job; Not what I expect for a restaurant in this price range. But I have had good meals there in the past and I like the restaurant itself so I might give it another try."

"We tried Town Hall for the first time last weekend to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. We were late getting through traffic; the hostess was very accommodating and saved our table. By the time we arrived we only had time for entrees and wine since we had tickets to Jersey Boys. The waitress was fantastic-worked with the kitchen to serve us in 15 minutes. She also offered up a great wine recommendation...the Peay Pinot. Great atmosphere, hip decor, delicious fried chicken and trout, outstanding service. We will return soon."

"I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Town Hall. The decor was eclectic and they had a nice selection of wines. However, I found most of their food to be extremely overpriced for what it was-$26 for fried chicken and Mac and cheese. My husband enjoyed his ribs and hush puppies but the ribs were twice the size portion that they needed to be. I also found the Mac and cheese side with my chicken inedibly bitter- not sure if it was the greens or the salty prosciutto that made it so but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I really wanted to like this place- the manager/ owner was very nice and checked in with us several times. However the experience overall wasn't enough to make me come back a second time."

"Visited on a Fri night and had a reserved party of five. Upon arriving, the hostess was very rude and unhelpful. We finally seated ourselves at the communal table and got ourselves some drink menus. It took about 25 minutes to get 3 drinks. We all loved our cocktails!!! I especially enjoyed the Daffodil one. We were led to our table about 10 minutes past our reservation, and the speed of the service never picked up pace. Our server was very charming and knowledgable about thd menu--I just think she was overloaded with tables.
Big portions & the ribs and fried chicken we're insanely good! The rib-eye a little dry and the rabbit was downright offensive.

"We have been coming here for 9 years to celebrate our Anniversary. The food, staff and ambiance never keep us coming back for more years to come.... not to mention the chocolate butterscotch pot de creme. The special touch of an additional "congratulations" dessert is greatly appreciated. We tell everyone we know to go to Town Hall."

"The service is always fantastic at TownHall and the creativeness in the food has become something I expect. TownHall reminds me of restaurants 10 - 20 years ago where you got business done with pleasure and a handshake was all you needed. Go late stay long and enjoy!"

"Four people on a Tuesday night at 6:30pm. Waiter was impatient, glib, and ignored our request to enjoy our drinks before ordering. He kept pushing for our orders, despite our polite requests to let us converse for a few minutes. We caved in to his insistence. Felt rushed and pushed. Food was average. Not special. Not bad, just not fine dining. As a consequence, the value was not there. Paid a handsome sum for drinks, starters, entree, desert wine... but felt cheated when we left. Sad to write this review."

"I've been going to Town Hall for some time but had not been back for about two years. It was wonderful to see that all the great things I like about this restaurant did not change. The food is decadent and the service is outstanding. I was thrilled to see the Town Hall burger was still on the lunch menu. I ordered it with bleu cheese, bacon and avocado to boot and it's just how I remembered it. The staff is charming and they always make sure you are well taken care of."

"We went to this restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday. The food was incredible but the waiter ruined the evening. He was condescending and rude. When told we were ready to order a cocktail he walked away. WHen asked what was his favorite meal, he proceeded to recite every entrée instead of answering the question. When asked again he became combative and condescending. He and explained each meal again. Didn't know it was Friend's birthday."

"We arrived at town hall promptly for our 9pm reservation and we were seated immediately. However, we definitely had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come to our table and greet us. Then when the waiter finally came he seemed a bit rushed and agitated. The food was AMAZING, but the service definitely needs improvement as this is my second time visiting this restaurant where I have received less than stellar service. I am willing to try them a third time because the food is so AMAZING, but if I go again and the service is poor it will be my last time. No matter how good the food is, I will not continue to spend my money on poor service. I sure hope that open table forwards these reviews to the restaurant."

We had two friends in town for the weekend and Town Hall was the restaurant we choose to give them a little taste of our amazing SF cuisine.
We have eaten here before a couple of years ago and we had a good experience so we thought we should try it again.
Long story short, the services was really bad...took forever to get our drinks order in and another forever the get them... Got the pork chop and I could only eat 1/3 of it since it was overcooked. Not going back nor recommending to anyone."

"Unfortunately, this restaurant did not leave a pleasant 'taste'.
From the moment we met the hostess, who did not smile, to the server who continued to try to upsell us (after telling him not thank you) to the food that was served Cool, the experience was less than satisfactory. While the restaurant is well know to locals, it is not a place I will recommend to those who visit the downtown area."
