Originally opened in 2008 as both a Peruvian and Cantonese restaurant, owner and culinary director Darren Wan decided to reconceptualize the already successful restaurant in 2010 into the chic, upscale and exclusively Cantonese format that it is today.
Melding traditional Chinese cuisine with a hip and contemporary venue, RED EGG caters to those looking for excellence in their cuisine as well as in the ambiance they want to enjoy it in. In addition to the Cantonese and Szechuan specialties menu, RED EGG features classic Cantonese dim sum throughout the day.
Recently awarded the Bib Gourmand rating in the MICHELIN Guide New York City 2011. Don't forget to try the Peking Duck Sliders, Pan Fried Dumplings and Red Egg Filet Mignon to name a few.
"We have been going to Red Egg since it first opened. The food has been consistently good: authentic Chinese and freshest ingredients. The dim sum appetizers (served even at dinner) and Peking Duck sliders are must-haves. There is an excellent selection of wines with suggestions to pair with the dishes."

"While the dim sum were generally quite good, the service was poor to indifferent. We ran out of food for our group of six twice because orders we placed were not acted upon. We had to chase down servers aggressively in pursuit of these orders--even orders for additional bottles of beer and cocktails--odd. The shrimp dishes were especially well prepared, cooked just to the point of tenderness. Do not order the spareribs, which are deep fried and coated with a thin greasy crust. Nonetheless, the restaurant is clean, the tables are reasonably spaced, and it's a rare spot in Chinatown that takes reservations and serves dim sum by order in the evening."

"service is still slow. not as attentive for a restaurant that looks and feels out of the norm for chinatown. if I'm paying more for dim sum, I expect better service. food has always been consistently great."

"Terrible ambience- no music played until 45 minutes into our dinner and only then, was the music played in the front of the restaurant and the back was neglected. Lighting was too bright almost as if they were "cleaning up" and food was not amazing. Service was not bad but the overall experience ruined it for me. Don't recommend!"

"The place makes up for what it lacks in decor with character. Old style place with an intriquing menu. I LOVE peruvian chinese (i'm peruvian) and it's really hard to get it in the US. This place totally delivered. I'd recommend it."

"I am from Hong Kong and have been eating dim sum in Chinatown and Flushing for many years. This is by far my favorite dim sum place because of its yummy food and spacious seating."
