Tuscan born Chef Cesare Casella, who is also Dean of Italian Studies at the International Culinary Center, collaborates with the Rosi family, renowned in Italy for their family-owned and operated company Parmacotto to bring New York’s Upper West Side Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto. The 25-seat space was designed by Italian Oscar-winning set designer Dante Ferretti and draws inspiration from a traditional Italian salumeria in modern scenery. They have brought to New York the experience found in traditional salumeria throughout Italy; guests can purchase the highest-quality cured or cooked meats to take home, or enjoy time with friends over a glass of wine and a selection of small plates. The menu consists of assaggi, or tastings, available for lunch and dinner. These assaggi allow everyone to taste a variety of items and experience the spirit of Tuscan flavors to the fullest. Using only the finest and freshest ingredients, Chef Casella offers the best of classic Tuscan cuisine.
"I have walked by many times always making note to try this place but it is usually full as it is tiny. I made a lunch date and it was a great treat. The portions are very small but I actually enjoyed everything and walked away quite satisfied. I had the Cher's special salad with the scrambled eggs and it was quite yummy. My friend had the skirt steak which was also delicious. I will defiantly go back and splurge on more dishes as every description was enticing."

"A small salad, and I mean small, with escarole, a couple anchovies and a few croutons is a bit pricey at $12. The same for a small plate of gnocchi for $14. You get double or three times as much at many of the Italian trattorias in the neighborhood for the same price. The food is very good though and the service too."

"The flavors are unique. The small plates make tasting many dishes possible. The wine list is good and extremely affordable. It is a great place to go as a wine bar or for a meal. Would definitely go back."

"I am of Italian heritage and always long for authentic dishes...a rare find where I live. My recent trip to New York City brought us to Salumeria Rosi and it did not disappoint. The entire meal was delicious and the tapas style allowed us to have numerous tastes, all of which were pure joy. Thank you!!"

"This is one of my favorite restaurants. Really nice small touches such as a sprig of rosemary in your napkin, a small container of really good bread, and small plates which are the perfect size. It's a small restaurant with big tastes and I eat there whenever I can."

"The menu was a bit overwhelming since it was our first time dining. Our server asked if we would like her to order for us. She asked what foods we didn't like and she went from there. It was wonderful! The plates are small and they recommend sharing. Between three of us we had the chef's plate (a selection of meats) and four other plates. We will be returning. This might be our new "go to" place in the Upper West Side."

"Small portions but tremendous flavor. Attention is paid to every detail. Tables are a bit close together and small but overall a wonderful experience."

"My favorite restaurant in New York. I love the sprig of rosemary in each napkin, I love the menu, I love the way the food is served, I love the size of the portions. I wish it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, but I guess other people feel the same way that I do!"

"Good prosciutto, other dishes were hit or miss, with portions being quite small for the price. The sweet potato gnocchi I enjoyed, while the lasagna was lackluster as the cheese on top seemed a bit burnt."

"My wife and I had to wait 15 minutes after the time of our reservation, due to the small size of the resturant it can become very crowded. The staff was very apolegetic and offered us both a free cocktail. The staff here is extremely professional and welcoming. The food is always excellent. One of our favorite places."

"I have been here a number of times and last night was by far the worst experience that I have had. Going forward, I will only do take-out from here. Prior to the start of dinner(just a few hours before), I got a phone call from the restaurant asking me if I could change my reservation to an hour later. I was not able to so I declined. I have to admit, this shocked me since I made the reservation nearly a month ago and I have NEVER had this happen before. Then, they made us feel rushed the entire time. it wasn't our waiter as much as it was a different table's waiter and the hostess. It was only at the end that they stopped rushing us when they were nearly empty. Overall, the food is here is delicious so I will just get take out."

"The torta was exceptional the flavors were just right. The lasgna was pefect it just melted in your mouth. They were very accommodating for my daughter and put the sauce on the side for the pasta that she ordered. The desserts that we ordered were all wonderful."

"This time the food was still basically just as goodas the last. The service on this Valentines day left much to be desired. First, before we had even sat down and we were 15 minutes early we were told we only had 1.5 hours to dine that there was a table booked right behind us. Second, once we had ordered 5 of our small plates came out all at once. Only after we had this did our amuse bouche show up. Then we overheard the waitress next to us tell a table that sat after us about the specials and the Valentines day Prix fixe menu. I would have ordered a special for sure. Nearing the end of our meal after I had ordered dessert did we again overhear a table next to us get offered the dessert specials. Poor service and very disappointed!"

"The concept seemed terrific, but the food was disappointing. My husband ordered a salad, which was one of the more expensive items on the menu, but it wasn't as nice as something we could have picked up at Fairway. It's difficult to make an entire meal out of cold cuts with nothing for contrast."
