"I arrived early for my reservation and waited in the bar. The bartender was very good and wonderfully friendly. When my friend arrived we went to our table right away. The food was fabulous! My friend had the rellenos and I had the carnitas. Both were wonderful. Very flavorful and generous servings. Unfortunately I had eaten wayyy too many chips (with three kinds of salsa) and just couldn't finish it all. We did, however, go for the flan and I had a bite. YUM!

"We were seated right away which was nice, but then we waited forever for a waiter. After 15 minutes of waiting someone walked up and took our order. I ordered a beer and a sprite and the beers came after a little while but I never got the sprite. We got our food and at that point I had asked two other people for the sprite and still hadn't gotten it. Finally after we had practically finished our meal and plates were already starting to get cleared I was brought my sprite. We then received the bill and they charged me 2$ for a canned sprite I couldn't even enjoy with my meal. All in all we would love to go back because the food was great... but they really have to get it together with the service before we can make that trip."

"What can I say. When all else fail. When your dinner date cancels. Call to cancel that table for 2 and make it for 1. Put on your headset, jam to your music and eat like there's no tomorrow. Take pictures for the darn people in your circle and assure them that you are one independent gal who can dine alone. The Sangria was a great buzz. Enough to make one hotter than the San Francisco weather we have been having."

"Tropisueño is a fun and bustling mexican restaurant in the heart of the Yerba Buena ctr., the food is good and the plates are huge, yay!!! It is the atmosphere is vibrant and noisy and very alive there, I'm sure that has something to do with, but not completely, the excellent bartenders there, and last but not least the prices are very reasonable, so Tropisueño is really a great value all the way around."

"The male host at Tropisueño on Monday evening completely ruined my experience at this restaurant. Because of his poor attitude, I plan on never returning to this establishment, which is a shame because I do enjoy the food here. I've been a frequent diner at Tropisueño, but when I was asked to be seated on Monday morning with my friend who was running late, the host became argumentative with me -- saying I never checked in (which I did) -- and finally ended the dialogue by ROLLING HIS EYES at me. I caught him performing this action, and I should have walked out on the spot. Unfortunately, my friend was visiting from out of town, and we needed a quick dinner spot so I couldn't leave in protest of this host's behavior and attitude."

"We've been here for dinner 4 times. We enjoy the food. For some reason the heat was on and it was very uncomfortable in the restaurant - we felt like leaving but sat through the meal. This effected our experience. We didn't ask for the heat to be turned down though for some reason. Plantanos Fritos were excellent as an appetizer. House Margarita wasn't as great as the other reviews say-but the salt on the rim was outstanding. Chile Relleno/Picadillo was good but not great. Tampiqueno was well when I asked for medium- I'm afraid of what it would have looked like if I ordered well. Wasn't that tasty but was a huge hunk of meat. Service was good. Tables for 2 are too close together - also makes for uncomfotable situation."

"I've been to Tropisueno several times and have never been dissappointed with the food. The place is noisy and feels packed/crowded all the time, so don't go expecting a quiet romantic experience. Fun if you're looking for a boistrous atmosphere. The chicken mole is fine - not outstanding but tasty enough. The dish that has three kinds of pork on these sort of bread "sandals" (I think that's how they described them in the menu) was DELICIOUS! They also serve a very nice fresh strawberry lemonade. Can't remember what I ordered in the past, but it was always pretty tasty."

"Always delicious, another good Friday night amongst the hustle & bustle of Tropisueno. We had a late reservation following an art opening over at Yerba Buena -- arrived a tad bit early for our 9pm table and went straight in despite the busy crowd. Food was tasty (love that chicken tinga!), drinks were good (yay pepino!), service was well-tuned, company was great. Only complaint was that it felt as hot as Mexico inside despite being a brisk city night... not sure if it was just that crowded or if they were suffering from an HVAC challenge but even us ladies who are frequently cold were uncomfortably warm. The guys were sweating and therefore, eager to move on with our night. Regardless, I know we'll be back."

"Manager is very rude. We had a party of 2 and a party of 3 walked in about 2 minutes after us. Neither of us had reservations. He say the party of 3 and told us there would be a 45 minute wait. That's not ok. We decide to find another place to eat. We had been there before and everything was great. But I guess this time the manager decided that he would rather pick and choose who he has in the restruant. I don't think we will return."

"My boyfriend and I went for valentines day and even though it isn't the most romantic restaurant, we had an amazing time! "Initially I booked for four people, and then decided to add one more guest. I went to change the reservation via OpenTable and there were no other 5 person tables available within 3 hours of when we wanted to be there. I received a call from Tropisueno, had amazing customer service and they added another seat for us! On the night of the reservation, two members of the party showed up and were rudely turned away, then I arrived 6 minutes before my reservation and was also rudely turned away and talked to like a child. Nevertheless, were seated and happy, enjoy my mother's birthday. As we sat enjoying our dessert cocktails, CONSIDERING the dessert menu, we were asked to leave to make room for other guests. UNBELIEVABLE!"

"I have eaten at Tropisueno many times for lunch but this was my first time for dinner. My friend and I started with drinks in the bar before dinner and the server helped us get a seat in the busy bar and was very attentive. Having complimentary chips and delicious salsa with our drinks was perfect. Once we were seated for dinner, the waiter was just attentive enough, making suggestions and taking our order with perfect timing. The food was outstanding (my friend and I both had the chile verde) and way more than we could eat eat as the portions are very generous. I will be coming back for lunch and dinner again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious, fresh Mexican food."

"This was our fourth visit to Tropisueno and we were disappointed. Their signature marguaritas we TERRIBLE . . . the worst combination of strong tequilla yet watery and tasteless at the same time. The food is good, particularly the flat steak! Additionally, the temperature in the restaurant is always stifflingly HOT. A little ventilation would be a welcome treat!"

"The food was not bad but it wasn't great. The guacamole
I ordered was a little flavorless. Restaurant could use better
tasting tortilla chips that are not quite so thin and crumbly.
I was also annoyed at how many times different
waitstaff came to ask whether they could clear plates when it was obvious
that we were still working on the food but when it came time
to pay the bill, we could not locate our waiter at all."

"I went here with a few friends on a Friday night, and had a great time - the atmosphere is lively, the food is delicious, and the long list of cocktails was great. Try the camarones tropisueno and a fresh mango mojito!"

"We arrived early for our reservation as we were very hungery and were seated right away, which was very kind of them as there were a few people waiting for a table.
We tried the special margaritas on the waiter's suggestion and didn't regret it at all. We loved all of it. Looking back, I would have followed my first instinct, which was to order all the lovely sides instead of an entree. I had the pollo en mole, which was almost half a chicken. My brother in law had carnitas; outstanding! Whatever my husband had, I wanted to lick his plate."
