"We arrived early (11:30 AM) - shortly after opening and were seated immediately. All the food we had was very good. Food was on the spicy side for my wife but perfect for me. A couple of the dishes weren't labeled - a minor point. They had a server at the appetizer bar who could advise on the spiciness of the dishes and describe what each were. Tandoori chicken and the curry dishes were excellent.
Definitely will go there again and would not hesitate to recommend to it to our friends who like spicy Indian food."

"Excellent food. Service was attentive, but mechanical & almost intrustive. There were so many people serving our table, I had two or three servers try to remove my plates before I was even through, often reaching in over my shoulder out of nowhere. It made the experience feel hectic / rushed, and when they took the order & checked in, it was with that same rushed feel, without any smiles or friendly interaction. It felt like their sole interest was in getting us fed & out of there, even though we were clearly enjoying lingering over the conversation. However, the enviornment was comfortable & the food great, so we will definitely return."

"Amber is the real deal. We had an excellent meal presented by friendly but unobtrusive staff. There was a large group near us, but noise does not echo around because of the nice furnishings. If you're looking for well-prepared, authentic Indian fare, Amber is the place. You will pay a little more than other places, but the value is worth it. I only wish they had some vindaloo!"

"The food was excellent, the service was excellent. The strange thing is that they allowed someone to come in to do a "magic show for the kids" that turned out to be a demonstration of a mobile phone's ability to keep a signal underwater. I don't like sales pitches when I go out for dinner, especially when the prices are on the high side. This put my husband and I off so much that we decided not to return. By the end of the meal though, the food was so good that we changed our minds."

"THe food here is amazing, the best Indian food I've had in the bay area. I have eaten several times. This visit I went with a party of 6 for a birthday dinner. They added in tip on our party, i guess because of the size? Neither the open table reservation process nor restaurant made mention of this policy. I would have given a better tip, but they decided to tip themselves a lesser amount. This policy should be noted during the reservation process."

"The food was disappointing, cooking careless, sauces tasted tired and much the same and pre-cooked, instead of being properly married to the meat or fish, the quality has plummeted since my last visit a year ago. The first course of siskh kebabs was excellent, as it was clearly individually and freshly cooked. The restaurant was full and the service distracted."

"We have never tasted more delicious Indian food than at Amber India. The only negative comment I would have is that the place could use some sprucing up. (The ambiance is rather tired looking). However, in order to refurbish, management and staff would have to move out and find another location because I don't believe the restaurant's devoted following could tolerate an even temporary closing."

"I come regularly for lunch buffet and butter chicken. Most recently, I ordered the butter chicken for dinner and it tasted even better then the lunch offering of the same dish! Amazing, considering how delicious the lunch buffet tastes!"
