"Was disappointed with the dining experience. Had chosen this place based on previous experience a couple of years ago. If you are looking for a good Indian lunch buffet this is definitely not the place anymore. Very limited options and definitely not worth the price you pay. It used to be way better..."

"Amber India and Santana Row is my wife's favorite restaurant. I took her there for Mother's Day and it didn't disappoint. One of our favorite restaurants in the bay area, absolutely love their entire menu!"

"We took a couple friends to Amber India -- it was our first dinner at a really nice Indian Restaurant. The food was good -- we would have appreciated more suggestions from the waiter, but I think he may have been respecting our conversation, which I also appreciate. It took quite awhile to get the food, but the food was excellent and the restaurant provided a good venue for conversation."

"Last time I was there, I had a traditional Indian dish, and the other 7 guests at my table ordered the lamb. This time I ordered the lamb to see what the fuss was. There are several lamb dishes; I had lamb kebab. It was delicious and tender. I'm not even sure it was an Indian dish, but it is the best thing I've eaten there in about 5 trips."

"Food was good as usual, although it looks like they hiked their prices quite a bit. We got a slow, slow server. She was also not that involved. Usually we get the same waiter and he's phenomenal"

"We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday buffet where we got to try so many different items. The naan and roti baskets were kept filled with hot , just made breads. Water glasses were continually filled. A great experience."

"We were there on Sunday for lunch. Food was really cold and servers were kind of hovering over to clean the table and felt like rushing us. Taste wise food was OK..but in total reality it was not worth the price. We were at this restaurant before for dinner and it was totally a different experience."

"I took my Mom and family out for a early Mother's Day present. I really enjoyed the food and the variety. But unfortunately my family did not. I thought because it was a buffet and that there would be many choices, my family (who has little experience with Indian food) might enjoy it and find a dish they like. Unfortunately, most of their comments were that the dishes were way too spicy or hot for them or they did not like the taste of the dishes. So, I would only recommend this restaurant to people who really love Indian food and are familiar with the cuisine, not for new comers or people you want to introduce it to. Also, the noise level was loud - need more sound proofing/acoustics. The service was very good & accommodating."

"Disappointing Indian food. Sauce dominated , overwhelmed .Every dish we ordered, the sauce was the main ingredient , very little meat or other stuffs.Even the vegetable dish we ordered had just a few pieces of vegetable, but mainly sauce."

"Amber 'suffers' from it's location. It is very busy and that is mostly because of the food but, partly due to the high traffic location. It is certainly one of the better Indian cuisine locations in the bay area and I've eaten there many times. The food is inventive, if not adventurous. If you're looking for authentic cuisine you will be disappointed. However, if you're looking for something a little different with the emphasis on quality and a cohesive taste experience, this is a great place. Of particular note is their treatment of fish. In almost every Indian restaurant, fish is over cooked. Not at Amber. What ever fish I've eaten there, either from the tandoor, as part of a mixed dish or 'curry' the fish is perfect!"

"This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay. The food is delicious and innovative. There is a wide range of vegetarian and fish dishes, so it is easy to find something I like. The wine list is also very good. I go frequently, and always enjoy it."

"The food was very disappointing given it was in the top 100 restaurants. The lamb shank was not melting off the bone and the sauce was not that tasty. The fish appetizer didn't taste fresh and the sauce was so so. The salmon was over cooked. The eggplant and dessert were good. But overall the experience was one we would have preferred to miss. Additionally the prices were very high for the caliber of food. Very uninspired. We brought friends from out of town and were embarrassed by the quality of the meal. At least it was our treat."

"We used to enjoy going here for a peaceful relaxed dinner when we could visit with our company. Our dinner on Tuesday night was not a pleasant experience. We were seated next to an extremely loud group with a guy with an obnoxious horse laugh. It really spoiled our dinner. I noticed that there is now a TV installed neat the entry. Does everywhere have to be a sports bar?? There were a number of what looked like business dinner groups of loud men, so, I guess this formerly couples restaurant is now a popular another business dinner joint. Our waiter was very distracted and hurried our dinner. We didnt have time to eat our appetizer before the entrees arrived. I think he had too many tables. Food is still great!"

"It was Valentines Day, so buyer beware. With the gratuity already included the service tends to get a bit slower and not as responsive. The food was awesome though and I would definitely be going back."

"Attractive, spacious restaurant with an interesting wine list, but the food was sadly average. Kidney beans in the daal? Cold naan? Hard rice? Come on..."

"We were very disappointed in the food, hoping we had finally found a good Indian restaurant in San Jose. Both our entrees were bland, without the wonderful taste of Indian spice. While the server asked us how our food was, he didn't care that we were disappointed.
We were also served a corked glass of wine. Yes, it was replaced, but that took a while.
We left with an overwhelming sense that they really didn't care what their patrons thought of the restaurant."
