Masraff's
Masraff's on Post Oak Blvd is a casually elegant upscale restaurant owned and operated by Houston restaurateurs, Tony and Russell Masraff. The restaurant has quickly become a local favorite with it's unique American cuisine and contemporary ambiance. Best described as American cuisine with a touch of Southern Europe, the seafood, fowl, homemade pastas, lamb, beef and seasonal game will satisfy the most discriminating diner. Soon after opening, Masraff's received stellar early reviews, including the prestigious three-star rating from the Houston Chronicle Dining Guide, as well as being named among the ten new restaurants on the culinary cutting edge in the US by The Wall Street Journal. For a delightful culinary experience, dine at the Chef's Table, where the Chef prepares a gourmet six -course dinner of his choosing. The Restaurant, which has recently moved to 1753 Post Oak Blvd from its former location at 1025 S.Post Oak Lane, seats over 200 for lunch and dinner.

"Our server was excellent. Food was very good. But we suffered from a typical problem for us in Houston: too noisy to have a conversation without a lot of effort. Do restaurant designers and owners really think that noisy makes for a better experience because they believe it induces a sense of energy and enthusiasm? How about allowing that some diners like to feel they enjoyed conversation? Especially in this case where it was for a business meal. Overall ok but not great value considering as well the price."

"this is one of my favorite places to dine!! Here you can never go wrong we often venture out and try different menu options and have never been unsatisfied!! We will keep coming back and even if we return just to sit at the bar with Ryan!! What a great bartender/mixoligist!! Great drinks...I love that there was a jalapeno in our beverage!! VERY tasty!!

"My wife & I chose Mazraff's to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I made a special request to be accomodated with prime seating & where they sat us was perfect for the evening & gift presentation I had planned. I arrived early & was attended to very well. Once my wife arrived, I asked if we could spend some time in the bar so that she could decompress from her very hectic day. It was not an issue. I had coat checked her anniversary gift & about halfway thru dinner, the waiter brought her gift at my request. The pace, ambience & graciousness of the staff was impeccable. When a member of the Mazraff's came to our table & introduced himself to us, that was a considerate gesture. The Bison Ribeye? Out of this world."

"A fabulous experience for our party of 4. Service was stellar and the food was of highest quality in every way. One of us requested an item that was not on the menu and the chef graciously provided a special meal for her. The Bone-In Pork Chop with red cabbage and mashed potatoes was a perfect meal. The marinated pineapple flavor complimented the pork perfectly for a memorable dish that I will order again in teh future. The Friend Banana Split was fun and delicious. Service could not have been better."

"It was our first visit to Masraff's and we enjoyed it to the fullest. The food was great, service - impeccable. At first when I heard all the folks in the bar area - i thought that is was way too loud. But then the restaurant was much quieter and even when full - noise was not a problem. Wine selection is impressive, desserts are pretty good, even if not to die for :) From our experience - which is quire subjective - Le Mistral had desserts a bit better, while the food was on par or even better than that at the Le Mistral (Eldridge location). Out daughter enjoyed herself and was unusually polite when the restaurant's owner stopped by our table to talk to us briefly :)"

"My husband and I had never been here before, but immediately we were very impressed. The staff treated us like royalty the entire night and we had one of our best meals ever here. The grilled calamari is outstanding with a light, beautiful sauce that we couldn't get enough of. The seared tuna was also so amazing. Excellent salads as well. "The food was very good. The salad dressing on the Herb Crusted Ahi Tuna is to die for. The Oven Roasted Nova Scotia Halibut was dry and unmemorable. The wine rooms are nice and much quieter than the main room near the kitchen, which leans towards noisy. Service was sub-par at best. The waiter was not friendly AT ALL. I felt it was due to our race as he chatted up other guests quite well. We will not be returning."

"We had Easter brunch at Masraff's. We ate at the last shift of the day. They had a set menu for $48 pp. You could choose one appetizer, one main course and one dessert. They offered a good variety of options. Our waiter was superb. He was prompt, made excellent recommendations and was great at knowing when to approach us/leave us alone. The food was just OK- Nothing stood out. The flavors were rather one note. They sounded complex but lacked a POP. We are foodies and have high standards however, when I go for a $48 brunch, I expect more (especially with a limited menu where the expectation is that they have totally mastered the dishes). Presentation was lovely. With so many great choices in Houston why return for mediocre?"

"Normally we would not bring our 11 and 16 year old children here but did for Easter lunch. There was a nice crowd, the prix fixed lunch menu featured interesting and good selections and pairings from one course to the other. The food was excellent, the dessert was really good and our service was fabulous. We were so pleased with everything, Masraff's really made our Easter lunch special."

"Best meal I have had in a very long time! We had an excellent experience all around.The pace was perfect. My wife and I were dining with another couple. They seated us promptly, got us our drinks and then let us sit and talk. After a while they offered us menus. The waiter had great suggestions without being pushy or selling. Everyone’s appetizers were excellent. In the right amount of time dinner came. I had the tuna, it was perfect and just the right amount. We all had deserts.We ended up spending several hours, sharing two bottles of fine red wine and full meals. The staff was there when we needed them, but didn’t rush us. We will go back."

"The chef was not cooking the food he was not there, the potatoes on my plate were black or real dark purple and tasted like they were cook a long time ago, and the fish that my wife had no flavor she told me, Customer are expected to have there food cooked by a real chef instead of having there complete meal cooked by a sul chef when they they go out to a fine dinning resturant, the chef wasn't there but the price was not ajusted."

"We really enjoyed our first visit to Masraff's. I had the Hawaiian monchong and my wife had the duck breast. Both were excellent. Service was attentive and our server had a thorough knowledge of the wines by the glass, which was nice. Price for quality of food, service, location, and ambience is very reasonable. Would highly recommend."

Amidst the power-lunchers & deal-makers sat a contingency of "the real housewives of Houston," (or some such group of perfumed & powdered beauty pageant alumnae) who added extra color to the cleanly-designed interior with soaring ceilings."
