Set in the heart of Westchester Country, the "Farmhouse" at Bedford Post provides the perfect backdrop for a first class dining experience. A Contemporary American menu highlighting local seasonal ingredients, matched by an exceptional wine list. Reservations are taken up to one month in advance.
The entire Bedford Post property is home to two distinct restaurants - the "Barn" and the more formal "Farmhouse" - as well as an eight-room luxury Relais & Chateaux Inn.
"We went there on Mother's day so it was a bit hectic. Service was good but not great. Food was very good but have found it better when the restaurant wasn't as full. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and add to the charm of the inn/restaurant. I would make it a regular if it was easier to get a reservation in the Barn."

"We dined at The Farmhouse on a Friday night and the place was definitely hopping. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. The ambience is very tasteful and the food -- from appetizer to dessert - was excellent! The menu is a little pricey, so probably more of a special occasion place, but well worth it!
I can't wait to return as the weather warms up and dine outdoors @ The Farmhouse."

"Higly recommend this place! The ingredients in the food have obvious farm fresh qualities. Great wine selection and cocktails as well. The menu changes too often to make recommendations, but if you have the opportunity, try the tasting menu. I've had the tasting menu and have ordered a la carte, both experiences were flawless. If you are looking for a quiet night away from NYC, this is the perfect spot for you (and if you spend the night at the Inn, check out the yoga classes in the morning)."

"It was our first visit. Our reservation was 9:00pm. we could have sat at 09:35pm. They apologized and they gave us complimentary dishes. I was impressed their attitude and mostly their manager. Personally, he came and said sorry and made us to forgive them from this late acceptance to dinner. Ambiance was so so. Delicious food but cold pasta!. We sat inside but I am sure that out dining was more charming and pleasant. Over all we were happy. I am thinking to visit there for lunch next time.

"We were looking forward to going to this restaurant. The table we got was great. The menu was great except that they advertise the pasta entrees with an appetizer price and you think you are paying $16 for an entree of pasta and it turns out to be $32. The ambience is good, the food good but what really takes away from everything is the service. It is poor. There are a lot of service people running around but they are not coordinated. You have to ask for everything including bread and drinks.. I saw a customer get up frustrated and poured his own wine..so the service does not match the expectations of the restaurant. Having said that, since it is a local restaurant with good ambience and food I would give it another try. But only one more"

"Let's start with the good part: fabulous food. Everything we ordered was outstanding. We were there for a special prix fix (only choice) Easter brunch. It was our first time there. We went because we had a terrific brunch at The Barn, their more casual restaurant (and would return there). Beyond that and what was surprising was the service. We have been to Relais & Chateaux restaurants and Inns around the country and the service at this one was surprisingly "can't do" rather than "can do" and just not up to par. Perhaps it was our waiter or the management of The Farmhouse."

"We really enjoyed our experience at the Farmhouse. Given that the reviews tended to be either really good or really mediocre, we went expecting anything. Two of us had the tasting menu, which was fantastic. The ricotta and pear first course was especially delicate and delicious. The other courses were all very tasty as well but the beef short rib really stood out. The caramelization on the ribs was almost like candy - incredibly rich and worth waiting for. The other two in our party had the 30oz ribeye to share and it blew everyone at the table away. The quality of the meat was spectacular and they smoked and dry aged the beef on the premises. The service was also excellent and the wine selection by the sommelier was stellar."

"The food was, as always, exquisite. (The exception was, as always, the aggressively crude and rustic bread; I have not fathomed The Farmhouse's dedication to these doggie treats.) I ate the tartare appetizer followed by a medium-rare steak; in a rare service error, the main course steak was delivered tartare as well. I asked that it be cooked and returned to me, and the final product was superb."

"Upscale menu, would not appeal to diners at large. Dining room was dark making it difficult to see the menu and our meal. Waitress was not knowledgable about the menu. Could not answer questions. Dessert menu was disappointing."

"Ambiance is lovely. We've had several pleasant brunch/lunch experiences at the Barn but were disappointed by the Farmhouse. Our party was enticed by the tasting menu, which did not meet expectations. The dishes (beet salad, scallop, short rib, and meringue-based dessert) were humdrum, uninspired, and lacking seasoning; nothing stood out as flavorful. We regretted ordering what seemed to be leftovers from Valentine's Day rather than our original menu choices and felt the quality of the meal was not at all commensurate with its cost. Timing out of the kitchen seemed inconsistent, and there were some service mistakes. We debated sharing our feedback at the end of the evening and are only responding since OpenTable requested the commentary."

"Very disappointing! We expected Richard Gere's place would be excellent. We drove 45 min to get there. It was as regular as a neighborhood restaurant. Nothing extraordinary and nothing to write home about.
Disappointing that the wine menu had great selections and varieties.....except, no Malbec. What great restaurants won't include Malbec? Malbec is the most popular wine these days.....
The dinner selection was so impressive that I don't even remember what I had. Anyway, our ride home was talk of overrated restaurant.
The Ecuadorean server was outstanding. Thanks to him at least it was pleasant! But, we won't be returning as Bedford Post is not worth the driving."

"We came on Valentine's Day - but for us we were celebrating our daughter's 18th birthday. We wanted something special she'd remember always and certainly got that. Every course was just outstanding - the service impeccable and well paced and the restaurant - our first time there - was lovely. The meal - a special prix fix for V-Day was expensive - but we had no issues paying for it since the evening was just wonderful. I look forward to returning."

"Great service, great food, good portion sizes-we left full and satisfied. Only possible complaint was that the service was maybe too fast? We were seated at 5:30 and done by 6:30."
