"The food was good but the Service is at best non responsive. We arrived at 6PM and for the first 30 minutes we had no issues. However as soon as the restaurant started to fill up it became a challenge to get the attention of our waiter. We still ended up leaving a good tip as we realized that having tables assigned all over the restaurant floor was not clearly by his choice but by management and thus we did not want to penalize him when he was trying his best. Unfortunately, while the food and presentation were good, they were not able to compensate the missing of an essential element of a pleasurable dining experience: a minimally good service.

"The appetizers were great: risotto was terrific, the halibut seviche was very good. The main courses (duck, bolognese, monkfish, papardelle) were all pretty good, not outstanding. The noise level (from people speaking) was unacceptable -- I couldn't even hear the person next to me."

"Our group had a great meal until the bill came. The surprise? In addition to our alcoholic beverages we were all charged $4.50 each fit water. Not Pellegrino, not Perrier. Just plain old still table water. And with a large party, that adds up quickly. Sure, charge me for water when I don't order a drink. But if I order a $10 cocktail perhaps water should be gratis. Especially when the service charge is added on top of the extra charge for water."

"We have eaten here several times and have not been disappointed with our dining experience. The duck dish is a favorite of ours. The pasta dishes are also very good. We like the child's menu, too. Wait staff is always very attentive. Will be going back soon."

"As noted (by others) a very nice space with a pleasant and accommodating wait staff. The food was interesting in composition and description. Portions are smallish but interiesting. Some dishes such as gnocchi were a bit bland but otherwise OK. Prices are up there but not out of keeping with the neighborhood"

"This is the place to go if you are looking for a non-chain restaurant that can serve you great food at a great price. Lucca works well for a couple or a group. If you let ehm know what you want, they will make their effort o deliver . Visited for a wine tasting event and it was superb."

"Food was outstanding, seated on time and were forgiving of one late in our party on a very busy Saturday night. Service would have been 5 star if they hadn't forgotten us at the beginning to get the wine order, but was attentive as soon as the food arrived. "The entire evening was memorable. From the minute we walked in the door, the service was tremendous. When our wine selection was not available, we were offered a better wine at the same price as the bottle originally requested. The appetizers and entrees were outstanding. Dessert was also delicious.
We were going to the Symphony and had valeted our car when we arrived for our 5:30 reservation. We mentioned the symphony. When we returned to retrieve our car at 10:30, it was parked right at the front door waiting for us. This is the height of fine service!"

"This is the best restaurant withing a reasonable walk for most folks from Symphony or Jordan Hall. It's not so good that I would go there otherwise, but it is good enough to enjoy once one is there. On this particular occasion, my date was late, and phoned the restaurant to report she would be, and the staff was quite solicitous both before and after she arrived."

"Food was excellent. Our party of 4 all had delicious meals. We shared appetizers. The calamari was very tasty. All of our entrees were wonderful (scallops, gnocchi with rabbit, duck and paparadelle pasta). We shared 2 desserts, pane cotta and flourless chocolate cake. We would recommend both. Very nice atmosphere. The service was a tad slow, but we were no in a rush so we didn't mind waiting a bit."

"We went to Lucca prior to the symphony last week. We are intense foodies and dine out at least 4 times a week. Our initial service was a little strange and one of my companions thought that it was possible that our waitress had a fight with her boyfriend before the shift. I have to say she did turn into a very good waitress. My distress came when we got the bill and I realized that we had paid $4.50 a bottle for water they carbonated on site. The serving staff liberally refilled our glasses whenever they were empty and we without any knowledge of the charge just nodded our heads and thanked them profusely. I have been to many restaurants lately who give you the option of sparkling or still at no charge. The pasta was great."

"We arrived early for several reasons and were told that the Symphony patrons finishing and we would be sequenced. However, we were seated almost immediately and drink orders were taken, no menus provided.
We were fine with waiting and eventually received menus and orders taken. There was a woman from reception who at one point came by to ask how things were and I mentioned that the waiter was very late delivering one of our appetizers. She took action immediately and from that point forward she ensured that everything worked like clockwork, she was unbelievable and made the experience Very Good."

"We dined on a Saturday night and were informed that they were extending Boston Restaurant week so our menu was limited. We had dined at this restaurant before and were extremely pleased with the service and food - not so this time. All of our entrees were disappointing to be kind. With so many other choices in Boston, we won't be back."

"There was very little choice for vegetarians and desserts even though it was fixed price menu for restaurant week. Our waiter was not friendly. Most items had an additional charge over fixed price for week. It cost us more more then if we had gone during non restaurant week as we wouldn't have ordered dessert or possible some appetizers. Unfortunately we would not go back."
