V. Mertz offers our guests a progressive, contemporary American menu with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients. We offer an award-winning wine list of over 400 selections. The restaurant is located in Omaha’s historic and picturesque Old Market Passageway, within walking distance from the Century Link Convention Center, The Holland Performing Arts Center, the Orpheum, and all major downtown hotels.

"My wife and I went to V. Mertz to celebrate her birthday. It was the first time we'd been there and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere; you feel like you're dining in a wine cellar. Excellent wine list ranging from high $30s all the way up. Enlist the help of the sommelier; he didn't push toward an expensive bottle; he took our ques and made a great, reasonable recommendation. Charuterie was awesome - duck breast, pork rillette, raw cured bacon, and came with a seedy country loaf. I ordered the waygu beef, and my wife had the "BLT" Farfalle dish, which had fried bacon, pork shoulder, and loin, along with preserved tomato. All of the locally sourced ingredients were incredible. Top the night off with dessert and french press coffee."

"The best bang for your buck! My girlfriend and I have ordered this twice with the wine pairings an it's an incredible value for what you pay for. By far the best two dates we've been on. Very romantic and gives you a chance to try things on the menu you normally wouldn't try! I'd say this is one of the best and one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha."

"I have lived in Nebraska for 2 years and used to enjoy fine dining before Moved here. Haven't found anything great yet.... UNTIL.. I came across V.Mertz.. The sevice was phenomenal, the food was a dance for your taste buds - I truly get credit to the chefs ingredient paring, and the environment was quaint! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars 100% already made reservations for next week when moms in town! Price is a above average but you get what you pay for!"

"After reading mostly great reviews, I decided to reserve a table at V Mertz for our anniversary dinner. From the moment when we arrived and the manager asking if we had reservations and then taking us to our table which was already set up, he then made sure to wish my fiancee' a Happy Anniversary. Very nice personal touch! The waiter was extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of our dining experience and being as it was our first time there, really made sure to walk us through every aspect of the menu. From our cocktails to the appetizer to the entrees to the wine pairing to the deserts, EVERYTHING was amazing to say the least!"

"We went here for a special occasion and it was very delightful. We had the oyster soup to start which was VERY good and served nicely so that you could see the ingredients before the actual broth was poured into it which we thought was neat. We both had the peppercorn steak and it was very good. We finished with the creme brulee which was amazing! I would definitely come back for a special occasion."

"Always been a favorite, but disappointed on this visit. Early Friday evening. Service fair. Wagyu beef was tough and awful. Will never order it again. Stringy and chewie even though ordered medium rare. Was expecting something tender. Guess I'll order the salmon next time.

"Absolutely fantastic! We did the 5 course w/ wine pairings and it was wonderful! The wine selection was delicious. I found my new favorite Chardonnay thanks to our server's suggestion. We had cocktails before dinner at the bar and I had their specialty strawberry gin drink an it was the best drink I've ever had. The head chef even delivered a few of our courses. This made us feel so special! We went for our 1 year anniversary and were completely blown away by our experience. We want to go back every year if not more! We live about an hour away and I would make the trip any night for dinner at this restaurant. Our server was fabulous and so knowledgable on the menu and the wines. Best eating experience all around we've ever had. Thank You!!"

"V. Mertz is a phenomenal venue located in the 'Hidden Passageway' in the Old Market of Omaha. The wait staff is wholly educated the menu and above that, on any items their guests may want that aren't on the menu. We asked for a drink we have had in only one other location and the waiter was able to describe the drink we wanted and make it for us. You are greeted as you enter with someone to take your coat and the chefs create delicious art work that appeases to your taste, site and smell. It is a warm, softly light cove that makes you feel like you found a 'hidden' restaurant. They have a full wine list where the waiter provides you with excellent suggestions that pair well with their selection of duck, lamb or steaks. Overall, Perfect!"

"Noticed that V.Mertz is using Top Sirloin instead of a NY Strip for their peppercorn steak selection. You get alot of meat but the top sirloin is a little tough in texture. A little pricy considering it is just top sirloin. The duck selection that my wife had was average. The dark meat was good but the white meat was a little over-cooked. The chocolate sauce all over the plate did not add anything wonderful to the plate. Recommend more of a traditional duck gravy or something else. Overall we had a nice evening and dinner experience. Would like to see a few more beef and seafood selections on the menu."

"The service was well paced and the environment was calm and romantic. The acoustics weren't the best as it was easy to overhear others' conversations. The food was good and the little extras before and after the meal were as well. The service was well paced, however, the server seemed unwilling to try and help us find a palatable wine. For the price, I don't think I will return, however, it is definitely a must have one-time experience."

"Appetizers were incredible. Main course. Salmon was good. Duck was dry and salty; "porridge" underneath was a couple of minutes away from too sticky to eat. Carrots that came with; the larger ones were not cooked through. Creme brulee was not outstanding and the carmelized sugar on top tasted almost burnt. The strawberry sorbet was delicious, however the chocolate cake that was part of the desert had a jello like texture. Could not be "cut" by spoon and even when cut was not at all tasty.
Wine pairings were incredible.
Would not go there again."

"Excellent meal with my wife and daughter. Sweet potato soup served uniquely over home made marshmallows was delicious! Gnocchi appetizer great as well. Would highly recommend the salmon and pepper steak entrees. Service was delightful - engaging but not intrusive. Clearly one of Omaha's finest restaurants. We will be back to try the weekday prix fixe menu. Almost forgot to mention the desserts are grand. The warm apricots in White Chocolate Winter could have been served as a fruit dessert on their own. Creme brûlée a classic."
