David Burke Townhouse is the masterpiece of Award-winning Executive Chef David Burke, whose reputation for wildly creative takes on American ingredients is unsurpassed. Since 2003, David Burke has been serving provocative Modern American Cuisine in an elegantly refurbished Upper East Side space. The restaurant's design is inspired by the bold colors and lacquered surfaces on the 1930's, yet it has decidedly contemporary aesthetic. Upon entering David Burke Townhouse, guests will feel the glamour and sense of fun in the lounge with its sleek white gloss, stone bar and whimsical art installations. The volume of color and drama is turned up for the main event, the dining room, where a striking color palette of chocolate, vanilla and lipstick colors prevails.
"Really enjoyed our dinner. Staff was very attentive without being intrusive and they even offered us some cheese cake lollipops for desert since we did not order a desert. Will recommend to all my friends and colleagues."

"WOW! The setting is so fabulous. Your feet sink into the carpet and you really do feel as if you are in someone's home. The food is delicious and different. And the cheesecake lollipops? Good gried. Worth the calories."

"In one word: Disapointed. We had great great expectations as we previously had wonderful dining experiences at David Burke's restaurant at the James Hotel in Chicago, unfortunately this was not the case at the DB Townhouse. Most of our issues are with the the service,The staff seemed in a rush (9:15pm reservation) despite a less than half full house, the waiter forgot our wine order. The food in general was ok but no more and one of the day's specials was VERY salty."

"Our party thoroughly enjoyed the food, sampling the Peas and Carrots and Angry Lobster appetizers, and the Crispy Chicken for the main course. The apple tart dessert was passable, but not memorable. The disappointing part of the evening was the service. Once dessert was served, we were ignored for the remainder of the evening. After waiting 30 minutes for someone to come to our table, I waved down the lead waiter who never apologized, but simply said he "thought his partner was taking care of our table." I spoke to the Manager who promised to look into the issue and call me to follow-up, but that never happened either, leaving an overall less-than-stellar dining memory. This restaurant was not able to meld great food AND great service."

"Pleasant enough, very quiet and serene; I guess it is very Upper East Side. There is not a thing I would really want to say that is negative about the place as there are many occasions where this would be ideal. Being from the southern end of the island I guess I am spoiled by all the new and innovative things going on downtown so this was a bit like a stroll down memory lane from the heydays of Carrie Bradshaw which could be a very positive thing for people just as long as you know that is where you are headed. Food is nice, service is very professional and the room is comfortable and quite."

"From start to finish everything was great. The staff was very accomodating and pleasant. It was great to see Mr. Burke there on a Monday night checking in on his restaurant. Only negative i can think of was my Bronz Veal was under cooked to medium rare instead of medium as ordered, I did not send it back. All other courses were terrific, especially the Escargot risotto my wife and I shared. One of my favorite places to dine in the city."

"Had dinner at David Burke Townhouse and enjoyed every minute. The decor is fun and eclectic, but very comfortable. The bar area is cozy and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The server was glad to accomodate a few special requests and was very helpful in explaining the dishes and ingredients. The food was wonderful - veal was especially delicious and the appetizers were creative and prepared in an innovative way. Although the restaurant was crowded, the noise level was fine and it was easy to carry on a pleasant conversation. Nice chocolate treat for later was also a nice touch. I will look forward to returning soon."

"Fabulous Food and Excellent Value. Delicious lunch menus at $27 + $39 alternative menu selections, always freshly prepared and fine value. Wine by the glass is also a broad selection and priced to sell. Highly recommended."

"Have been here for lunch at several times. They have a great prix-fixe menu which offers appetizers, entree and dessert at two different prices ranges. I've done both and both choices are excellent! The atmosphere is elegant without being 'stiff' and the service is 10-stars!! My fav is the Veal Saltimbocca...the ravioli is to die for!!"

"Continuously outdoing itself as one of the very best Manhattan kitchens for quality food expertly prepared each time. It doesn't get much better than this anywhere ... at reasonable to moderate prices. We are fortunate to have it as a neighborhood restaurant that we go to as often as possible."

"Food is amazing. The restaurant pays such attention to detail (details that I never even thought of before) that really enhance the dining experience. Definitely worth the money, since it's pricey, and very nice portions. Amazing cocktails as well. The only downside is that the dining room is a bit small so the tables are close together and it gets rather loud."

"David Burke is an under rated chef. His food is always high quality and innovative. The complementary popovers are very good. I had Davids signature swordfish collar in green pea puree with little fried gnocchi and it was a rare treat (not literally the fish was perfectly done). This is a great place to have lunch and the room is beautiful."

"Beautiful place. Great ambiance. Great Food. We had brunch and the food was eclectic but delicious.
The only negatives I have are the food was rather expensive. Its an easy to spend a $150 on a 2 person brunch (without us having champagne or cocktails). Were not from New York so maybe our expectations are different in regard to brunch pricing.
Also, the seating was a little cramped making it somewhat uncomfortable. Definitely try to reserve a table in the middle of the floor. I'm sure its a great place for dinner."

"I was hosting my family and thought this would be a great place to have a fun meal after a whirlwind tour of the city - this was exactly the case and it proved to be a wonderful way to decompress. The staff was extremely accommodating and there are lots of special little touches, such as amuse bouche, a cute bread "bowl" and petit fours. Half of our party ordered off of the vegetarian menu, which is much better than any other non-specific vegetarian restaurant. Everyone was raving about their meals, even the 12-year-old in our party and my picky mother who loved her seaweed brined chicken. Our server was wonderful and made sure that we enjoyed our food, yet still managed to get out of there in time for the theater. Highly recommend!"

"We went to David Burke Townhouse for Brunch. We had a good time. I had asked for a table near a window, with light, and they gave us the only table near the window. The restaurant was almost empty. The service was very nice and attentive. The food was good but not excelent. We both asked for a main course dish that contained lobster and a poached egg. My wife´s dish was perfect, but in my case the egg was extremely overcooked. The dish contained too much bread, too little lobster. I am not sure if I would go back for brunch, even though its location is very convenient to our new home."

"Wonderful food and terrific service. David Burke never disappoints, mixing whimsy with warmth, creating magical high-end comfort foods that you'll be thinking about and comparing your other meals to the rest of the week. The Crispy & Angry Lobster is a must-eat dish that's deliciousness is off the charts! It has just the right amount of lingering spice to complement the butteriness of the lobster. The Dorade with artichoke hearts, forbidden rice and coconut sauce was perfectly balanced— and cooked. Even the side dishes at Townhouse are extraordinary. The brussels sprouts, made with bacon, scallions and apple have a fireworks of flavor. I'll be counting the days to my next reservation!"

"I tend to enjoy David Burke's establishment so I went for Easter brunch. Perhaps I expected too much since it was double the price of their standard brunch and was thus disappointed when there was nothing different or special about this holiday brunch. In short, food was good, but don't go when you have to choose from the holiday prix fixe."

"Great and exciting food as always. A nice happy place for a date. I love David's restaurants and eat here 3 or 4 times a month. This used to have a great prefix lunch although they upped the price recently. While its still a good deal if you have never tried DB, for some reason that increase (although small) made it feel a little less of a gem for me. I'll be coming back but less often and giving other places in the area a shot."

"I love DBT...I really do. The service, atmosphere and (usually) food are all fabulous. That being said on my last visit something about the kitchen was just a tad off. From the lack of chili oil on the bar snacks to the omission of the wonderful bread and relish "pail" to the fatty rib eye.
When this restaurant is at the top of it's game it has few peers."

"Despite having a reservation from Open Table and an unbusy evening at the restaurant, we were seated in the passageway between the bar and the dining room. It took awhile for anyone to acknowledge our presence, and we were mostly ignored all evening. Lamb chops were underdone, and the waitress never returned to check on us after serving them. I gave them to the water server to return to the kitchen for a few minutes extra cooking. They were returned to me on the same crumb-covered bread plate I sent them back on. Artichoke salad was good. Overall disappointing for the price and former reputation."

"The David Burke Townhouse is all about "potential".....and "disappointment". Certainly based on our evening. Which is to say, don't be too hasty to say "no" to DBT, but do check around. Our night, wherein the biggest disappointment was the food, might well have been the exception. Indeed, with such a good reputation, the odds are that this WAS an "off" night for the kitchen! Everything else hit expectations...and the expectations were high! The ambience is beautiful! The main dining room is spacious, full of colour and adventure to the eyes....and soft on the ears! Enough room for quiet conversation, but lighting balances beautifully between intimate and yet bright enough to read the menus and see smiling faces all around. So...read around!"
