A visit to our house is a unique way to relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures as well as our treasures from the sea. The word Bagatelle comes from the French and means "a trifle or a little nothing", often referring to a light, fun, yet not too serious spring time romance. The French brought their history of fine cuisine and their love of wine to the Caribbean Islands. It is in this tradition that we have combined our French heritage, southern hospitality and the indigenous tastes of the Florida Keys into the meals we prepare today. Our chefs blend the best of our locally caught fresh seafood, fresh produce and delicious tropical fruits for our tropical seafood dishes.
"our waiter was cliff he was fantastic. We had a very nice table out on the terrace. Cliff suggested the pork belly as an appetizer, it came with a molasses reduction it was delicious. If you like pork belly do not hesitate to order it. Our waiter also suggested lobster Mac and cheese which we also order. Our table order grouper which came on top of a crab cake with a bier blac sauce and we also ordered filet w a sherry wine sauce. To top off the meal key lime pie very creamy with cappuccinos. Our evening was memorable. We will be back."

"While the food was good, almost everything else was mediocre. The establishment has a great outdoor dining facility that is essentially ruined by loud music from a neighboring Tee Shirt-type shop; effectively destroying what would otherwise be a great experience. We found our waiter to be overly opinionated and shallow when it came to wine - selling on price versus real knowledge. Three different wine selections turned out to be the wrong year when presented, for example."

"Don't bother going to Bagatelle while in Key West. It is directly on Duval St., across from a very noisy biker bar. No atmosphere. Most importantly, the food was terrible. I ordered a steak (for $30), and it was overcooked and fatty and chewy. My beans were undercooked. The tuna my husband ordered wasn't too bad, but just don't bother. There are many nice restaurants in Key West, so no need to visit this one."

"The quality of the food was only eclipsed by the quality of service. Our waiter was on top of his game. He was informative and knew everything about the menu. He was attentive, entertaining, well-versed and made the whole dining experience a pleasure. It's too bad we don't live closer to Key West. This place is a must dine. Have the Snapper!!!!"

"I tried getting a reservation for 7 but the system said no tables were available so I made it for 5. When we arrived at 7pm the place was practically empty and they had some very large tables that never filled so I dont know whats up with that. Other than that a great place. My fiance and I both had the swordfish which was outstanding. My son had shrimp and pasta which was also outstanding. The mojito was good but a little weak. We ate outside and were able to watch the happenings on Duval."

"Bagatelle is a beautiful little restaurant tucked away at the north end of Duval Street. Despite the location on Key West's famous bar scene street, you step into a serene and quiet restored old house and feel a million miles away from Margaritas, beer and nachos. Try sitting on the porch and you can have an excellent dinner and people watch at the same time. The food is based on locally caught and locally grown foods and is marvelous. Our waiter was experienced, friendly and helpful. A real gem!"

"Party of 4, reservations were made but not necessary as the restaurant was not full even on a Saturday night during spring break (March 23) Ordered bar drinks which were good and the tuna tataki appetizer which was also good. Bread was brought out and it was nice and hot. Our entree of swordfish was a nice large fillet, but on the dry side. The lobster tail was overcooked and chewy. The grouper was well prepared, but the substitution for the vegetable didn't come out until we were almost finished with dinner. The only dessert that looked worth ordering was no longer available that night which was the white chocolate creme brulee."

"We come to Bagatelle each year when we are in Key West. Dining on the outside wrap-around porches overlooking Duval is fabulous, so the ambience is one of the best in Key West. However, this year the menu was somewhat average,and the food was good but not anything special."

"Excellent food and attentive service. Great spot for more mature diners in a youth oriented area of town. Broad spectrum menu of creative offerings with "right-sized" portions. Wine list was superb. Staff very understated in their presence, but efficient in their work. Just as I like."

"After a few days in the Keys and some great outdoor venues, we looked at Bagatelle and almost cancelled our reservations.....an unassuming place right on Duval St....what a mistake that would have been. Our meal, and the waitstaff, was everthing you would want in a fine dining meal We started with the pork belly....melt in your mouth tender and flavorful. The tuna with udon noodles was beautifully rare and tasty and the duck with citrus(!)potatos an unexpected mouth treat. Go There!"

"From the outside, this looked like a great place to get some good seafood in Key West. We were dissapointed from the beginning. Our server was unattentive, and everyone else around us seemed to get their food and drinks before we did, even though we were sat first. I ordered the conch chowder, which was great, and the grouper dinner. My friend ordered the shrimp scampi. Mine came out cold/lukewarm and the fish was dry. I asked for it to be sent back and warmed up. She did tell me the chef didn't want to dry out the fish (too late for that) and remade the plate. It was ok, nothing great, but at least hot. My friend's scampi was just ok. Neither were worth the steep prices."

"Dined on the front porch overlooking Duval Street which added slightly to the noise factor, but is great for people watching! Service was superb. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals - including the duck, shrimp linquine, and the lobster tail. Cucumber Cooler cocktail was a favorite - very refreshing on a warm evening in the Keys."

"We really enjoyed our meal at Bagatelle. The food was outstanding and sitting on the upstairs porch was fun. We could see all of the action on Duval St. I particularly enjoyed the swordfish. It was one of the most tender ones I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. The chocolate dessert was pretty special as well. The service was excellent."

"Food was great. Nice selection of sipping rum and scotch. I dont like having waiters at my table every 5 seconds so I appreciated the space, but they were too hard to get ahold of to take our order, refill drinks, ask for dessert, and ask for the check. Overall it wasnt bad enough to keep me from returning in the future."

"Unfortunately it poured when we were there and we were seated on the upstairs porch. It would have been nicer on a pretty night. The food and service were excellent and we would go back in a minute the next time we go to Key West. The grouper was really the best I have ever eaten."

"Nice downtown restaurant set in a historic home. The only thing i would have changed about my dinner would to have had the swordfish NOT overcooked and dry. Otherwise, all was a treat."
