"I ordered a bone-in rib-eye steak, rare. It was a big disappointment, especially given the heft price of $47. The steak was flavorless, obviously not dry aged, which one would expect given the price. The caesar salad was unremarkable, as well -- bland dressing and the salad greens hadn't been properly dried before dressed, so it was watery. When speaking to other friends who work downtown about Morton's, they unanimously agreed that the food is lousy at downtown Morton's. Service wasn't that great either. I won't be going back."

I took two girlfriends to lunch to celebrate one of their new jobs. The waiter was exceptionally inattentive Even though the dining room was 85% empty, he kept disappearing for 10 to 15-min periods. We explained we were on a tight time table, and asked for one more minute to review the menu; he didn't come back for nearly 10. Though the orders were simple (soup, crab cake BLT, sandwiches) our food took a while... maybe 25 minutes. One friend had to have her meal boxed immediately so she wouldn't exceed her lunch hour. A manager came to our table to inquire about the boxed meal... but no apology or comp."

"Service was relaxed, which was great. We were in no rush. When we were ready to order, we tried to our order the $49 special menu which was advertised on the website. We had checked before going to make sure downtown DC was participating. When we tried to order, we were informed that downtown DC did not participate, despite what was on the website. Instead we were able to order the $59 steak and seafood menu with a glass each of complimentary wine. That made it okay, but there were some menu items we were really interested in trying from the special menu.
Additionally, when we asked about validated parking, we were told there was a dispute with the parking company and were unable to have the discounted rate advertised on the website."

"I love great a steak. I have dinned at great restaurants from the west coast to the east coast. I don't remember the last time our steak were prepared this wrong. I asked for medium well steak and I recieved almost rare a steak. So the waiter took back the order and the manager brought it back blacked dried steak. Shame on the manager for bring back the steake wrong for the second time!!!!

"While typically one of my favorite steak restaurants for business and pleasure, this Morton's location clearly struggled the night we went. The food was very mediocre, unseasoned and the escargot and one of the steaks were very overcooked. When replacements were offered (which I should say they were quickly) it was clearly food from the window and not a recooked item. The server in training was actually nicer than the main server assigned to our table and as the matriarch of my family, I expect my chair to be held out for me when seated, which is was not. Of the 5 or 6 Morton's I've been to in the US, this isn't my favorite..."

"Morton's is nationally famous for its steaks, especially the Cowboy Ribeye and NY Strips, and this location is like the rest in that department -- it won't disappoint. But this location is unique for its cigar-friendly enclosed porch, which has become a political meeting spot. It turns out that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on good meat, good drinks and good cigars, even if they cannot agree on much else. When Congress is in session, it's rare not to see at least one Member of the House or Senate on the porch. Sometimes a TV newsperson or two. And it's not all men, either. It's almost like a club, with a roster of regulars."

"We'd heard wonderful reviews of Morton's, especially the one in DC, so we decide to give it a try. They weren't very busy, yet we still waited almost an hour for our food to be served. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the wait or the money we paid for it. The steak was tender, but not very flavorful, and the hash brown potatoes were cold and overcooked. Needless to say, we won't be going back to Morton's, in DC or otherwise - especially since there are so many other great restaurants with similar menus."

"I usually visit Morton's Georgetown, but made a lunch reservation for Morton's Downtown because they offered an exceptional Prime Lunch menu in observance of Administrative Professiona's Day. We were greeted, and seated nicely, but our waiter lacked attentiveness. He did not make eye contact with me and seemed to avoid walking by our table. I had to raise my hand to flag him down to let him know we were ready to order, and to ask for the check at the end of our meal. I had a 1:00 pm lunch reservation, and did not get served the main course until 1:55 pm! When I inquired what was taking so long, he said "the kitchen is busy because of secretary's day". Once the food arrived it was not hot, but I was done at this point. Probably wont return"

"I was entertaining a client and the food was far below Morton's standards. I took 40 minutes to bring out the steak taco appetizer. Once the food arrived, (both ordered the beef brisket and scallops); my food was cold the brisket was served with mashed potatoes instead of noodles and our other side item (fries) was not sent out with our meals and once arrived…surprise they were also cold. I sent my meal back and to my dismay instead of being made over fresh; it was reheated and served on a bed of barley warm noodles. As you can image, I was highly embarrassed considering this was a business dinner.
The drinks were excellent; however, I have no desire to revisit anytime in the near future given this experience."

"Very good steak (we had fillet). The experience could have been better. The wine list was not up to date so (of course) the wine I ordered was out of stock. The steak is served a la carte so you would think the server would at least offer a sauce, béarnaise perhaps? When I asked about it I was told he'd bring some right away. As I waited I realized the serving plate was only lukewarm so my fillet was getting colder by the second. The waiter never did return with an answer. I flagged down a busboy and he too went to find out. He returned to say they were out! So, while the food was good, I think I'll take my steak Dollars somewhere else."

"I have already been to Morton's before in Chicago and decided to try the one in DC while I was in town. The ambiance is very nice. The service was good, but I wasn't sure who our waiter was. They had a steak and seafood special for $59.99, but when we asked about switching the meat option, we were given the wrong information. Also, the price they quoted for the wine was also wrong. In the end, we paid more than what we expected due to wrong information. That aside, the food was very good and we were very full. We would go back."

"Mprton's is always good but this was my first time at this location. I had a business meeting with two people I hadn't met and the host handled my lateness expertly by greeting and seating my guests and getting them drinks. The food was excellent and a real plus was getting to say hello to Rob Reiner who had attended Supreme Court hearings on Cali's Prop 8, and had been at a private function there. My guests were impressed with the venue, food and treatment which all combined for a successful meeting."

"Steaks weren't as good as I've come to expect from Morton's. Servers forgot several things like olives in my drink. At one point we all smelled cigar smoke. We were in the center of the restaurant and couldn't determine the souce of the odor."

"Don't like the new decor. The feel of the restaurant has lost it's intimate appeal. The lights were not dimmed enough. The food wasn't nearly as good as my first experience. Definitely not worth $165 with no liqueur!"

"We usually love Morton's. We've been once (Richmond location) since Landry's took over. I have to say, this was the worse visit....by far. Everything was ok, until we got our entrees. My veal chop was rare, when it was supposed to be medium. The server volunteered to bring a new one. 15 minutes later, I received the same one cooked more. Several others in our parties had issues with their food. It was a bad experience."

"I took my wife to Mortons to celebrate her passing her Securities license exam. From the moment the waiter, Chris, came to our table, he acknowledged that. It actually caught my wife off guard but in a good way. To recognize our celebration, the restaurant covered the cost of our dessert which was a very nice surprise.
We ordered filet mignon and both of us enjoy ours medium-well. Chris talked to us about the benefits of trying steak at a medium temp but wasn't pushy about it so we tried it at his suggestion and it was terrific. We also ordered the bacon mac & cheese and it was amazing!
The best part of our experience was our server Chris. He was fantastic! He talked & joked with us and made us feel incredibly welcomed!"

"It was a wonderful experience. They personalized the menu for the occasion we were celebrating. They took our photograph and emailed copies to us. And, of course, the food was outstanding and our server (Chris) was informative and solicitous. A lovely farewell lunch for a departing colleague was made even more special by Morton's."

"I went on Valentine’s Day so the restaurant was busy. The services was not the best but I guess because it was Vday it was ok. The food was amazing like always. I was just disappointed because I called earlier in the week to see if they had their prix fixe menu, I was told yes and additionally a steak and lobster option. When we got there that was not the case. They only had the steak and lobster option and nothing else came with it. Besides being mis-informed about the menu and the average service, it was good. Best steak I ever have is always from Morton's."
