Come for food that's "so good, so natural, so close to the earth," writes Citysearch.com, "that it doesn't need much augmentation."
The Good Earth, however, receives plenty of adulation --- from critics impressed with our commitment to top ingredients, to a loyal clientele that make the Good Earth their first choice for hearty, healthy eating. Both locations offer a diverse menu ranging from comfort food classics to fiery curries. Yet it's not just the cooking that earns accolades...
"Good things come in the attitude of the servers, who know the menu and do everything they can to enhance your dining experience; and the airy, pleasant feel of these spaces that were smoke-free long before it became PC." -Citysearch.com
"I usually love and recommend the Good Earth but this time the food was not all that good. I hope the friends we brought will give it another try sometime and hopefully it will regain its usual charm and high level of quality and flavour."

"We chose the Good Earth because we could make a reservation; nice to know that a group of 7 could show up and be seated right away. The table was ready, the food was delicious, and the coffee cups were kept full.
I ordered the vegetarian Joe's Eggs -- it was OUTSTANDING. Most of all, it was nice to leave breakfast feeling full, but not so full that I was sick for the rest of the day. Can't wait to return."

"I have to say that when asking for a large booth and the hostess said there weren't any available was not true. They were opening up all around us. Maybe if I had asked for one on my reservation, I just might have been lucky enough to get one. BUT, I should not have had to ask since I watched booth's sit empty around us.
The food was less than satisfactory. The Tilapia was so small you could find it on the plate. The soup looked like mush. Presentation was very poor.
I used to love your restaurant. Not so much anymore.
Waitrss was very nice."

"Lemon sauce on grilled salmon overpowered the salmon AND potatoes. Trout was excellent but bed of greens and green beans was SO spicey I couldn't eat it. Artichoke dip was too spicey, but tolerable for the rest of my group. Had trouble eating the bruschetta -- piled four inches high with a bland concoction of mashed beans and goat cheese. Looked great taste was only mediocre and hated that it smeared my face tryihng to eat it. Carrot cake was good, but strawberry shortcake was more like ice cream with strawberries-VERY disappointing! Our server, Mary, was phenominal though!!!!! Thank you for the great job, Mary!!!!"

"I had soup and a sandwich, which had such excellent flavors. I like the seasonal menu with featured items, sampling the spring asparagus myself. My friend's plates looked yummy too. And I felt healthy AFTER dinner, which is often not the case after eating greasy, large servings at other restaurants. When can I go back? I'll make a reservation when I do, since many others appreciate this gem and are competing for tables."

"So this was our 2nd visit in as many weeks - I couldn't get enough of the Bison Sugo!! However, the gal waiting our table was pretty disappointing. I understand busy, but other tables were clearly getting better service than our 4-top was. Took forever to get drinks, took forever to get apps, and then not 5 min after we finally go apps, the food was there. Then it took forever to get refills and our check. Service was disappointing, but everyone really enjoyed the food!"

"Went there for my birthday, got dessert to share with my family (carrot cake - yum). I tried the Hoisin Chicken Stir Fry for the first time and it was super delicious. I will get it again. If you like peanut-type sauces you will like this one.
As many reviewers state, this restuarant could use a remodel."

"I love the Good Earth and wish I lived closer. Great food for vegans, vegetarians and meat eating folks. The food is consistently fresh, properly prepared with great flavors and consistent production, i.e. if you order Huevos for breasfast today and you order it again in a month, you will get the same tasting food. I appreciate this but if you want surprises you won't be able to eat through this restaurant in a year and get the same thing twice. This is my favorite restaurant I have been too and I have traveled widely for work for a number of years. Now that you can make reservations, you can avoid the inevitable wait."

"We are regulars at Good Earth so we know what to expect, great service and awesome food. Well today's visit fell short. Don't know if there are new cooks or what? I ordered the just right combo, soup or salad main course and a dessert. The soup was great but the main course which I ordered salmon was dry and over cooked so was the lentils it rested on. The whipped cream on the lemon cake was so old tasting that my son wouldn't even eat it. The cake itself was dry and tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for days. My husband ordered the buffalo burger. He said it tasted fine but lacked in size and condiments, lettuce, and such. The queso my daughter ordered was fine."

"The only other time that I was at Good Earth was for breakfast, and I honestly don't remember much about what I ate. This time, I can pretty much guarantee that I will remember the burger! I had the Good Earth burger, or something like that, and it was very yummy - hamburger was cooked just as requested and come on an interesting multigrain bun, with cheese, sprouts, avocado and lots of other goodies. I was visiting with a friend, and we were quite leisurely in getting around to ordering - our waitress was patient, and gave us the space to take our time. All in all, a good experience and one place I gladly recommend."

"I've been here a couple of times and the food has always been delicious. The patio is beautiful in the suppertime. The service is usually good though sometime a little slow. This time it was really slow and the server was pretty inattentive. Still suggest the restaurant though - especially if you're looking for good clean food."

"Seven at our table, in the middle of the room, and it was remarkabley quiet for being a busy Thursday evening. That is one of our dinner group's requirements, that we can HEAR each other. All of us enjoyed our different dishes. We'll be back."

"Food and service are always great. We appreciate being able to take our time, start with a glass of wine, and not be rushed into ordering dinner. The 10 for $10 wine special is a hit, especially being able to take the bottle home. It's a nice addition to enjoying box of leftovers."

"I've been wanting to try Good Earth for a while...once there, I couldn't decide on what to order, so I ordered a lot! The Good Earth burger, sub bison patty was incredible! The flavors of caramelized onions, gruyere, and mushrooms complimented the bison wonderfully. The chicken masala with sticky rice and mango chutney had a mild flavor; not too spicy, not too sweet. It was heavy on the peppers and onions, but an overall lovely dish. My favorite of the night was the wild mushroom risotto. I would order this again in a heartbeat! Macadamia nuts added unexpected crunch and flavor, kale added to the earthiness and was a lovely splash of color in an otherwise muted dish. Everything was perfectly balanced and comforting. I want more now!"

"I love this restaurant! I am a vegetarian and this place has many choices for me. Not just a salad! The quality of the food is always on point along with the service. The staff is friendly and accomadating. It was easy to reservation. At least with a reservation you don't have to wait for two hours to get a table like at other restaurants. I highly recommend this place."

"The Good Earth has been one of my favorite places to eat, but our breakfast experience was disappointing. Though the service was very good, the food was uninspiring, and simply not delicious. Our party of 6 reported the food as (hesitantly) good, ok, to not the best. My own breakfast was not hot, and tasted fair. I was surprised with all the typically wonderful breads served, that there wasn't a breakfast bread basket with our meal. Even the coffee was not up to par on this day. I'm hoping this was just a fluke."

"Sorry to say I had a poor experience. I really like the Roseville location but had a very bad experience in Edina. Food was bad -overcooked potatoes, dry french toast, dry egg whites. Poor seating - right in the middle of entry way so everytime someone with a wheelchair or oversized person came through they bumped the chairs or asked us to get up out of our chairs to pass. Terrible service, a server actually yelled across our table to say hi to a patron that she knew and continued to have a conversation while my group had to wait to continue our own conversation until they ended their conversation."

"The menu had so many delectable sounding items it was hard to pick just one. I finally chose the salmon with vegetable hash and was very happy I did. I completely cleaned my plate. The eggs were poached perfectly (and traditionally might I add) which is hard to come by these days. The coffee was dark and rich. Our waitress was very attentive but not overly so. She asked from the beginning if we would like separate checks so it made paying a breeze. I would definitely go back again - no question.
One item to note: We were late and lost our reservation, and the host was not very nice to my friend who arrived before I did. From the sounds of it, they were very condescending stating that "they were very busy on the weekends.""

"We were in Edina visiting friends, who had been to Good Earth a few other times- they were not sure whether it was kid-friendly or not (we have a 3 1/2 year old), and it was a WONDERFUL spot. The waitress brought out fruit immediately for our daughter, which she loved. The food was incredible, fresh, and healthy (if you wanted it to be :) )"

"Great food (risotto) but our service wasn't dry good. Our server was ditzy and dropped off our check as we were eating. She then continued to walk back and forth looking at the check to see if we had paid. If was annoying and rude. I get it, I work in the industry, so either pass off your table or sit tight. I also didn't enjoy the hostess vacuuming near our table. If you have a check list before you are done for the night, then have someone else do it after we leave. Not that great of an experience."

"This is still one of my favorite places for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love the salmon hash for brunch. However, almost every time I order it, the eggs are never quite the way I like them. They are always very nice about recooking them, so they are not runny, and not too hard. I appreciate that. The waitresses and waiters are always friendly and accomodating. The prices are good, and the food selection is great."

"My husband ordered a short stack of buttermilk pancakes, and a full stack of the brioche french toast and kindly shared some of it with me. Both were delicious! He loved the pancakes the best, while I was a bigger fan of the brioche french toast. You can tell the bread is made fresh; it was light and fluffy, not to mention nice, thick slices!
I also ordered the organic egg stir fry omelette with egg whites and no cheese. It seemed a bit oily, but that could have also been because of all the delicious veggies in the omelette. I also had it with the country roasted potatoes. They were pretty good, but nothing special.
Overall, we enjoyed our first time at the Good Earth, and plan to return in the near future!"
