"The restaurant was pretty good in general. The servers were pretty courteous. The only thing that was lacking was class. The restaurant is clearly targeting a higher end patronage, but servers were comparable to cactus club or the keg. Would have been much better if they took the professionalism up a notch."

"Servers and waitress seemed inexperienced. When the waitress was clearing our appetizer plates, she had her hand out, not trying to reach out for my plate but expecting me to pass her my plate. Something I didn't expect from a somewhat high-end restaurant. Our table was small and even the inside seats were in a reachable distance. Would have been nicer if she could at least ask if I can pass her my plate. We're sitting at one of the corner tables, when the server was walking by with plates in his hands, the plate almost hit one of my guests' head. When the waitress asked how's the food, we haven't even answered, she already replied good and turned away.
Prime rib is still good, onion rings were overcooked, seafood chowder was so-so."

"May 18, 2013 @ late night. My family decided to have late dinner and since the place look nice we decided to dine in. When we got there, there was nobody at the front desk. I have to go in the resto and find someone to talk to us. Food was bland and the steaks were not cooked properly. Terrible service we got from our waitress. She seem like she lacks energy. She ignored our table, didn't bother refilling our water glasses. We tried to get her attention to ask for our bill, but she walked right by us without stopping even though we called her 3x. It seem like she heard us but she ignored us. To top it off when we finally got our bill, she printed the receipt and threw it on our table and walked away. Rude waitress. Def not coming back!!!"

"Had a party of 9 for dinner. It took a while for our server so we ended up ordering our dinners at the same time as our drink orders. It took about 30mins for our appies to come - soup and salads. Only 3 of us had appies and you would think soup and salads should be pretty easy and fast to put together, but nope. Then we waited another 40 mins before our mains arrived. Our guests who didn't order appies waited 1 hour and 20 mins before they had anything to eat. No apologies from the staff. They just said they're busy tonight, but there were empty tables every where. Burgers were dry, soups were cold, lobster pasta wasn't good. Steaks were ok though. Overall a disappointing night. Won't be going back. I'd rather have a steak at the Keg."

"Don't ever go to the chop without confirm your request and reservation.
Bad experience every time I go to the CHOP. I am too nice to give them chances but that's it. No More. I won't / recommend to anyone to this reservation; no matter how great the food is. I prefer paying similar price to other restaurant, at least, I can get the service and more delicious food."

The restarant was busy. It was difficult to get a hold of a server.
We asked for more napkins that were never brought over. Our prime ribs were over cooked and we waited for a long time before we could tell someone about the problem.

"I'm always weary about Mother's Day at restaurants. The brunch menu is often very limited, the prices raised, and the service not on because they're busy, etc.
We had reservations with special requests (wheelchair access and high chair/booster). They got them all right, which impressed me because often we have issues with that for whatever reason. The brunch menu had a good selection, priced right for the restaurant. The servings were a good size and everyone loved the taste of their meal. Our waitress was attentive, but not too much. There were three Moms at our table and we all got lovely pots of herbs wrapped up as a parting gift. It was a nice touch.
I'm very happy with hout it all turned out!"

"The service was really great. Hostess was very kind and welcoming! Our server was the best. She was so friendly! I took my family out for dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday and when she found out, she quickly rushed away somewhere to give him a card! The whole experience was amazing. I am definitely going back again! I also had to leave her with a big tip because she deserved it! Chop was pretty yum. I loved the prime rib and crab tacos!"

"The seafood chowder was not too tasty, but the French onion soup was good. I ordered a large piece of prime rib with less fat and it was given to me just as I requested (last time one-fifth of my prime rib was fat). My wife's teriyaki top sirloin was a bit smaller than expected. The lobster tails were delicious except that they were both too salty. The server was very polite and helpful."

Every thing was superb from start to finish.. a great gesture was the birthday card with best wishes.. Three of the girls had BD's , we were offered complimentary deserts, ( as everyone was so full we opted for sharing one cake) all of this done in a very classy way,, no singing or applause, just a simple act of kindness.
This is not our first experience at Chop , we often come, we have never been disappointed.

"The food was good and the service fine. Unfortunately, we were a party of six and were jammed into a booth barely large enough for all of us (and we are not large people)...upscale dining in cafeteria style seating. And the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, but we were seated right beside the only other occupied table."

"Atmosphere at Chop is modern, clean and elegant. The service is outstanding: friendly but professional and attentive without being intrusive. Steaks were cooked exactly as ordered; fish was fresh and cooked gently and the vegetables were perfectly tender-crisp. The wine list is good, with a number of selections available by the glass. The only negative was that one of our party found the sauce for the fish quite salty (other dishes seemed to be appropriately seasoned). Definitely would recommend this restaurant to others, and we will dine here again."

"We love the Chop and normally go to the Chop in Kelowna, however this one is great but we had the experience of being placed in the first booth in the restaurant and the traffic flow of waiters delivering food was ridiculous. Also the temperature in the restaurant was freezing I wore my coat throughout the whole meal and notice a couple of other ladies doing the same.
Love the food and this brand but this was not a good night."

"We were a challenging group! Of the four of us, three have nasty food allergies, and one with deadly effect.

"The atmosphere was very romantic, i find the food was not what i expect for the price i paid. My steak was blue rare almost when i orders it med. rare. I ordered filet mignon but i find it was tough to chew. I made a special request twice, once on open table and the other time with the hostes. It was my birtday and i ask if they serve cake with a candle, the host said they will do something for me. So we didn't order cake or bring a candle with us. Nothing was done. I was very disappointed. I won't be going back, not worth for what we pay."

"We came often, and just been here 3 days ago with another friend! This was the time I show my friends from Beijing and New Zealand first visited Chop.. Mostly I bring my friends to Boathouse before! The service was the worst over the last two years, the hot water is not hot enough, and the salmon was very bad that day, so disappointed! The prime rib and steak, lobster were good and in standard as before, we love them.. Desserts always feel good too !
I don't know why we need to ask for steak knife in every single time ! I wish it's only this time and I live to going back in my coming birthday in March ! The Manager are great and helpful at that night :)

"We are fairly frequent diners at Chop and get a good consistent experience. This time however the experience was spoiled right off the bat. Had made the resevation weeks before, and the restaurant was not crowded. Despite that the hostess led us to a table right outside the servers station. Noisy, busy, and terrible ambience. When I asked the hostess to give us another table she looked at me like I had two heads. When I insisted she grudgingly walked us back to perhaps the 2nd worst 2 top, right by the entrance. This despite many other better tables (that stayed empty for the duaration of our stay. Would make me reconsider going back."

"I was incredibly disappointed with our experience at Chop, from what I had read I was expecting a romantic Valentines day dinner, I had made a reservation online and everything went through without a hitch. Once we arrived they took us away from the restaurant to the lounge because the restaurant was booked up... I did not book the lounge, nor did I want our romantic valentines day dinner to be in a pub like atmosphere with high tables and giant tv's in front of us, we didn't even get a booth. After that disappointment the food was average, the service was average and the overall Valentines day experience was poor. I won't be heading back soon."

"Booked lunch for 7 on dine out, was seated in a private room which was a nice touch. Food was good value, the soup was a bit colder than expected but still good. Everyone ordered prime rib and appeared to enjoy it. This place is on par with the Keg and open for lunch weekdays, which isn't the case for the Keg in Richmond."

Start with butternutt squash soup, which was excellant. The appi of crab cakes was so/so. not very tasty. Main of stuffed chicken breast was also only so/so/ Girlfriend had the salmon which was much better. Dessert of chocolate cake was good.
Would not say it was a great meal but just okay. Good atmosphere, very nice place. Would go back but hope the chef's are little better next time . with two glasses of wine $100."

"The food was great, my only negative on the food was the New York strip loin wasn't as juicy as it should be and I did order it med. Not a huge disappointment but just not up to the standard I felt it should be. I did not complain, as the waiter was great in the very beginning with appetizers, place was dead as we arrived at 4:20 about 10 minutes earlier than our reservation. The service was terrible after the meal came and it was like he had too many tables and the worst part was he never came around to even flag him down. Our food dried out waiting to flag him for a take home container."

"I been there for my friend's birthday last year. Overall i will rated them for 4 stars restaurent then i went back for dine out this year. I was order salmon for main course & choclate cake with ice cream for dessert but the salmon & the dessert came at the same time?? I couldn' t get it. That is my experience for dine in Chop!!"

"We found the service at Chop to be painfully slow. Obviously the kitchen was not prepared to handle the crowds associated with Dine Out. Waitress was friendly but apologized to us about a hundred times for having to wait so long for our food to arrive. We arrived on time but were informed we would have to wait 15 minutes for our table. We were eventually seated in the lounge because the dining room was full.
Quality of food was ok, but certainly not worth the $38.00 set price. Perhaps $28.00 and even then only maybe.
Definitely not the fine dining experience we had anticipated."

"The food at Chop was very good, but the overall service was very disappointing. Problems: (1) We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, because the hostesses were unorganized. Their excuse for us and other diners, who made reservations, was the servers had to prepare the tables. In reality, the hostesses were fixing a reservation that was 3 evenings later. (2) The service was unbelievably slow. We had to wait a long time whenever we wanted to ask our server something. I've noticed that this was the same for other diners, but the dining room was not packed. Food took a while to be served. Dinner took 2 hours (from arrival time to paying the bill). (3) One of the hostess was discourteous by not making room for diners in the hallways. Shocking!"

"servers very pleasant & attentive. Excellent butternut soup! Portion size & quality of food excellent for the price/value. Prime rib cooked to the right doneness. However for a steakhouse, you would think that if you order the prime rib or steak that a steak knife would automatically given without asking for one. Very nice that there is complimentary bread basket however, again, it would be nice to have a side plate to eat off of. Also it's very rare to see a manager is involved in bringing the food or clearing the tables. Nice touch!! A little bit chintzy on the creme brulee though. All in all a very good experience & will definitely be back!"

"Food was good but the service was awful. Did the 4-course fixed menu. They brought out the soup and appie at the same time. One person only ordered soup for dinner...which proceeded to come 15 minutes before everyone else's entrees. Mother found a date sticker in the mashed potatoes...at least it said Thurs. (the day we were there) we hope it was not the LAST Thursday. Didn't offer the gratis bread...which other tables had. Didn't bring water....no follow up. We waited more than 30 minutes between entrees and desserts. Good food bad service. Too bad...service ruined the whole experience."
