"There was a vibrant happy hour going on and the music was turned up throughout the restaurant. We could not hear each other and we won't go back as a consequence. They should separate the noise level between the bar and the restaurant. I guess the young generation just texts back and forth, because you sure couldn't talk. Also the fire alarm went off so for half the dinner there were lights flashing and fire alarm sounds. Very uncomfortable. Food was good so it's too bad. It's near STC so it used to be a good pre theatre venue."

"The ceviche was good and the Cobb salad was very good and beautifully presented, but the Tiras de Pollo (roasted chicken salad) was awful, and had clearly been made with day old, overcooked and dry chicken. I would have sent it back if the service wasn't so poor."

"I'm from Chicago, so when it comes to restaurants I can be pretty picky. My family and I came after my brother graduated from GW, it was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely go here again when I come back to visit."

"I always love it here. The guacamole and the frozen pomegranate margaritas says it all!!! It's a little pricey for Mexican fare but its so much fun I don't even mind the prices. My most recent visit was for brunch and it was great! We got french toast which was topped with crispy sweet plantains and they were so good. We also got the carnitas hash with fried eggs on top and it was great...slightly salty with shredded potatoes and onions mixed in and the runny eggs on top brought it all together. I highly recommend it. The espresso flan is sweet and creamy too."

"We weren't originally planning to get guacamole (I'm not normally a fan of avocados). But we decided to try it anyway. What a great choice! Being made table-side, it was very fresh -- we ate almost all of it! One tip, though. Some of the pieces were a bit large (too big to be picked up by the chips) so you have to use your fork and smash them down a bit. But the flavor was worth it. The margaritas, however, were pretty small. Good but small. I wouldn't order them again as they were also a bit pricy (but isn't all alcohol in the city?)."

"We went before a Caps game to Rosa Mexicano because it was the only reservation time doable. I was under-impressed. It was very pricey, the food itself was just ok. I had fish tacos, the waiter tried to upsell me and actualy said, "the ones you're choosing are average, but this other one...". Really? He's going to downplay something on the menu? We had their famous guac (it was pretty good) but $12?? It wasn't to die for, and the fact that you make it at the table doesn't change the fact that it is incredably overpriced for what you get. In all, we each had an alcoholic drink, the fish tacos and the enchaldas, & the guac... our total was just shy of $80. Way over priced for so-so food. Jen"

"We dined at Rosa Mexicano for Mothers Day. The food was outstanding. My husband isn't big on guacamole. But we devoured the guacamole made table side - it had just the right balance of flavors. My husband had the Carnitas Huevos at the recommendation of our server and raved about them. I enjoyed the Beef Mole enchiladas and was thrilled with the flavor of the mole. Our daughter enjoyed the couch chicken nachos (appetizer) as her meal and it was for than plenty for her. We can't wait for our next opportunity to return."

"Food was excellent. Nice atmosphere, since it is right across from Verizon Center in downtown DC. We went there right after the Washington Capitals beat the NY Rangers in a playoff game. So great location to go to after a game and let traffic die down.
Everyone was very friendly. Energy in the restaurant. Very nice bar area, and plenty of tables for the dinner crowd.

"We were at Rosa Mexicano on Cinco de Mayo and it was even better than usual. The service was stellar, unfortunately, I can't remember the woman's name. We had the guacamole, which you don't want to miss. The table side preparation means it's fresh and they modified it a bit because of my low sodium diet. I had the carne asada which was fabulous! Served with their black beans and rice it was amazing. My sister had the chicken similarly prepared and said it was great too and it must have been since I wasn't offered a bite. We always go to Rosa Mexicano when she's in town. It's fun, the house marguerita is great and the food excellent. Expensive for Mexican food but never disappointing for a special ocassion."

"What kind of "Mexican" restaurant screws up a chicken enchilada? Shouldn't that be a staple? I don't usually write bad reviews, but the food here was not good. Flavors did not match well in my crab enchilada and my wife's enchilada was just bad. Not sure how else to describe it without being rude. While our service was amazing, the food will keep me away."

"This is my fourth visit to this location and the least favorite - not sure if it was just an off day or what. It was a Sunday after a Nats game. The first time I've ever been when it wasn't busy. Our server seemed spacey and we had to call her attention to place our order. I always have chicken tortilla pie and for the first time it was, well, just pretty bland and lacked the usual flavor. Also the rice was cold and not cooked long enough. Will give them another try but if its the same I'll tart staying home and making my own giuac for a fifth of the price."

"This used to be one of our favorite places to go in DC but this time it really missed the mark. We are hoping that it was just an off night. The service was slow, we waited some time for our order to be taken, we frequently had empty water glasses, etc. The menu has been changed fairly recently and a bit disappointed in the changes. Because it has always been one of our favorite's, we will go back again with the hope that this is not the new normal."

"Both the server and the manager asked for our drink order that our guacamole order we were using the brunch Gilt coupon. We did not get our drinks which would be a picture of sangria until after our food arrived at the table and only because the manager noticed we did not have our drinks."
